Mrs. Hattie Cameron (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Hattie Cameron, 79, of 304 E. Globe St. died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Jonesboro Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Andre Green. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Cameron is survived by two daughters, Barbara McPhatter of Carrboro and Gwendolyn Marshall of Sanford; two sisters, Greta Jones of New York and Elizabeth Yarborough of Flushing, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Horton Funeral Home chapel.

Joe K. Brayboy (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

LAURINBURG -- Joe Kelly Brayboy, 50, of 110 Second St. died Wednesday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in White Hill Holiness Church by the Revs. Carson Smiling, Wiley Shepperd and Clarence Quick Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Brayboy is survived by his wife, Patsy D. Brayboy; three stepsons, Benjamin Locklear of Maxton, Gregory Smith of the home and Edward L. Smith Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters, Sonya M. Locklear of Maxton and Brittina Brayboy of Raeford; two stepdaughters, Wendy Dial of Laurinburg and Tammy Locklear of Stanfield; his mother, Esther Chavis of Pembroke; two brothers, Iron Brayboy Jr. of California and William Brayboy of Maxton; two sisters, Mary Munger of Laurinburg and Ruth Romano of Pembroke; three half sisters, Alice Hunt of Tabor City, Delphie Dial of Dillon, S.C., and Allie M. Haggins of Maxton; and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service.

Ralph Beatty (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

JACKONSVILLE -- Ralph Beatty, 54, of 107 Meadow View Court, formerly of Harrells, died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Beatty was a Marine Corps veteran.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Summerville-Boykin Mortuary chapel in Garland by the Rev. Johnny B. Murphy. Burial with military honors will be in the Beatty family cemetery.

Mr. Beatty is survived by his wife, Catherine C. Beatty of the home; two daughters, Pretrinina B. Arnold of Raleigh and Sonja R. Beatty of Jacksonville; three sons, Reginald Beatty, Ralph Beatty Jr. and Tyrone Beatty, all of Jacksonville; a brother, Odell Beatty of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Lucille Newkirk, 5898 Tomahawk Highway, Harrells.

James E. Bailey (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- James Edward Bailey, 37, of 2808 Old Whiteville Road died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Meadows. Burial will be in Speights Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Frances C. Bailey of the home; two sons, Joshua E. Bailey and Samuel D. Bailey, both of the home; his parents, James H. and Frances T. Bailey of Lumberton; and a brother, Anthony L. Bailey of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory and at other times at the home.

Sally Brooks (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Sally Brooks, 94, of 404 Cherokee died Sunday in her home.

Mrs. Brooks was an educator before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pembroke Gospel Chapel by the Revs. Charles Oxendine, Ted Brooks and Bruce Swett. Burial will be in Berea Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by two sons, Dr. Sherman Brooks of Pembroke and Tony Brooks of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, L. Cynthia Brooks of the home; three brothers, Brisco Johnson and Gary Johnson, both of California, and J.W. Johnson of Michigan; three sisters, Clara Johnson and Ann Gage, both of California, and Maggie Oxendine of Pembroke; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home.

Thomas D. Vetrosky (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

PINEHURST -- Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Thomas D. Vetrosky, 79, of Pinehurst died Wednesday in St. Joseph Nursing Center.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be Nov. 4 in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mr. Vetrosky is survived by his wife, Margaret E. Vetrosky; a son, Daniel T. Vetrosky of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy S. Harmon of Aberdeen and Margaret A. Hast of Langley Air Force Base, Va.; a sister, Mary Pleva of Sunnydale, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216.

Tommy A. Quick Jr. (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

Tommy Artis Quick Jr., 29, of 1895 Elliot Farm Road, Fayetteville, died Friday.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in Hair’s Chapel Church in Linden by the Revs. Earl Swinson and Ronald Saxon. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.

Mr. Quick is survived by a son, Ledford A. Quick of Laurinburg; his father, Tommy A. Quick Sr. of Laurinburg; his mother, Larue Carter of Stedman; four sisters, Marilyn Jackson of Salemburg, Connie Hunt of Stedman, Linda Hunt of Fairmont and Cynthia Jackson of Florida; and three brothers, Ledford Deal of Fairmont, Lonnie Deal of Whiteville and Benny R. Deal of Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to Hair’s Chapel Church, Duck Pond Road, Linden, N.C.

Dennis C. Priest (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

RALEIGH -- Dennis Craig Priest, 59, of Raleigh, formerly of Hope Mills, died Tuesday.

Mr. Priest formerly worked for Sol Rose and Associates in Fayetteville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.

Mr. Priest is survived by his wife, Donna R. Priest; a son, Alex Priest; a daughter, Adrianne Priest; and two brothers, Charles E. Priest of Fayetteville and Larry M. Priest of Pinehurst.

Charles Powell (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

DUNN -- Charles Powell, 79, of 3000 Benson Highway died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home.

Tommie L. Peterson (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

ATLANTA -- Tommie Lee Peterson, 63, of Atlanta died Saturday.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Murray Brothers Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. A.O. Smith. Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery. Local arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville, N.C.

Among Mr. Peterson’s survivors is a daughter, Deborah P. Cunningham of Fayetteville.

Margaret McGill (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Margaret McGill, 75, of 3605 Bolt Drive died Monday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home.

Wadis McCoy (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

LILLINGTON -- Wadis McCoy, 73, of 843 Moore Chapel Church Road died Monday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

John R. Lally (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

PINEHURST -- John R. Lally, 80, of Pinehurst died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Mr. Lally was an Army veteran.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Monsignor Frank J. Hendrick. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home.

Mr. Lally is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Lally; five sons, J. Richard Lally of Richmond, Va., Timothy Lally of San Francisco, Thomas Lally of Atlanta, James M. Lally of Winston-Salem and Brian ‘‘Wally’’ Lally of Seattle; three daughters, Patricia Dowling of Crystal Lake, Ill., Catherine Lally of Blacksburg, Va., and Susan Kuphall of LaGrange, Ill.; a sister, Catherine O’Connor of South Bend, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren.

Varser Kinlaw (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Varser Kinlaw, 85, of Lumberton died Tuesday in Beverly Health Care.

Faulk Hunt (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

ROWLAND -- Faulk Hunt, 89, of 4385 S. Robeson St. died Monday in Pemberton Place Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Benson Chapel Baptist Church by the Revs. Chalmers Kerns and David Locklear. Burial will be in Benson Chapel cemetery.

Mr. Hunt is survived by two sons, Vardell Hunt of Lumberton and Cornelius Hunt of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three daughters, Lettie M. Jacobs of Lumberton, Clara D. Brayboy of Maxton and Dora L. Hunt of the home; four sisters, Sophronie Locklear, Luecellars Evans, Nellie J. Oxendine and Fodie L. Hunt; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Robert A. Hoose (Dated Wednesday, October 27, 1999)

BENSON -- Robert A. Hoose, 75, of 212 Banner Elk Road died Saturday in N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home.

A private memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the home. Burial will be in New Cumberland, Pa. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Mr. Hoose is survived by his wife, LaVera Hoose of the home; four sons; two daughters; a brother; four sisters; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
