Hattie T. Newkirk
Mrs. Hattie Mae Taylor Newkirk, 88, of 7019 Kittridge Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Magnolia by the Rev. T.L. Duren. Burial will be in the Newkirk family cemetery in Magnolia.
Mrs. Newkirk is survived by a son, Joe T. Newkirk of Warsaw; two daughters, Darnetta Anthony of Fayetteville and Patricia Turner of Magnolia; a stepson, Excell Wilson of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home chapel.

Fred B. Monroe Sr.
PINEHURST -- Fred Bethune Monroe Sr., 98, of Carolina House, formerly of West End, died Monday.
Mr. Monroe was the founder of Monroe Distribution Co. and the West End Theater. He was a member of West End United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in West End United Methodist Church by the Revs. Ron Dietrich and Dudley Crawford. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.
Mr. Monroe is survived by two sons, Fred B. Monroe Jr. of Carthage and Dr. John L. Monroe of West End; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes.

Mavis J. Moore
HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Mavis Johnson Moore, 64, of 6322 Brettonwood Drive died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Starling Cemetery by the Rev. Norwood Tadlock. Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Robert Moore of the home; a daughter, Deborah Basile of Gray’s Creek; two brothers, Jerry Johnson of Linden and W.G. Johnson of Fayetteville; three sisters, Vera Jackson of Long Beach, Lucille Sessoms of Fayetteville and Louise Baer of Fresno, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.

PINEBLUFF -- Ms. Frances Dunn Lopp, 88, of Pinebluff died Tuesday in St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Page Memorial United Methodist Church in Aberdeen by the Revs. Robert Bundy and Julian Scott. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Ms. Lopp is survived by several nieces and nephews.

BENSON -- Mrs. Ruth Moore Lee, 77, of 144 Helms-Dogwood Road died Tuesday.
Mrs. Lee was a member of Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She worked for Block Industries for 37 years before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. James Gurkins and Bobby Caudle. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee is survived by two sisters, Dorothy M. Ryals of Angier and Katie M. Tart of Benson; and four brothers, L. Gerald Moore of Belhaven, Tommy Moore of Angier, Mack Moore Jr. of Benson and Kenneth Moore of Coats.

Davis of Orlando, Fla., James Davis of Lumberton, Wayne Davis of Fayetteville and Cecil Davis of Holden Beach; three sisters, Bonnie Fuller of Lumberton, Pat Davis of Garner and Wanda Bullard of Beaver Dam; and eight grandchildren.

Ms. Keslar is survived by two daughters, Donna Aldridge of Brandon, Fla., and Diana Stevens of Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, Mary Wilson of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Kathy Ruf of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Kenneth K. Keslar II of Fayetteville; a brother, Maurice Mitchelle of Elkhart, Texas; a sister, Linda Rogers of Hope Mills; a granddaughter; and six step-grandchildren.

PEMBROKE -- David Freeman, 20, of Candy Park Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his parents, Bruce and Lea Freeman of Pembroke; three sisters, Shealean Freeman and Tiffany Scott, both of Pembroke, and Loria Blackburn of St. Pauls; his paternal grandparents, Bowman and Annie L. Freeman of Pembroke; and his maternal grandmother, Evie Hammonds of Lake View, S.C.

CLINTON -- Ms. Chellie H. Crumpler, 87, of 103 West Road died Monday.
Ms. Crumpler was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Crumpler is survived by a brother, Jeff Honeycutt of Clinton; and two sisters, Burleen Spell and Estelle Haddock, both of Clinton.

ROCKINGHAM -- Ms. Carrie Bernice Wallace Covington, 73, of 495 Hamer Mill Road died Friday in her home.

Ms. Covington is survived by four sons, Daniel Covington of Rockingham, Ulysses Covington and Leak Covington Jr., both of Washington, D.C., and Boyd Covington of Suitland, Md.; four daughters, Deloris Brance of Brandywine, Md., Lavana David of Hamlet and Carolyn Covington and Diane Jackson, both of Washington; and a sister, Cleo Johnson of Washington.
