RED SPRINGS -- James Lowery, 70, of 101 Providence Place, Apt. 4 died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Freedom Assembly of God by the Revs. Montana Locklear, Mitchell Oxendine and Mitchell Tyler. Burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Lowery is survived by two daughters, Gearline Brooks of Shannon and Eileen Locklear of Red Springs; three brothers, Harvey Lowery of Red Springs, Bobby Lowery of Lumber Bridge and Willie Lowery of Pembroke; six sisters, Mary A. Tyler and Margie R. Bell, both of Shannon, Shelby J. Revels of Lumberton and Katherine McLeod, Angelene Lowery and Alice G. Oxendine, all of Red Springs; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Red Springs Funeral Home.

WHITE OAK -- Frank Lewis, 79, of 5442 N.C. 53 West died Wednesday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Thomas AME Zion Church by the Rev. Gliston Morrisey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lewis is survived by a sister, Maggie L. McKoy of Elizabethtown; a brother, Isham Lewis of White Oak; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland.
Burnes L. Ivey Sr.

LUMBERTON -- Burnes Leamon Ivey Sr., 88, of 5361 Smith Mill Road died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife, Hazel Ivey of the home; two sons, Burnes Ivey Jr. of Durham and John D. Ivey Sr. of Lumberton; a stepson, Samuel Smith of Lumberton; a daughter, Betty J. Cross of Charlotte; four stepdaughters, Flora Todd, Darlene Shook and Priscilla Barnes, all of Lumberton, and Kathy Meares of Bladenboro; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Billy W. Huntsinger

EASTOVER -- Billy William Huntsinger, 80, of Eastover died Thursday in N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville by the Rev. Wayne Chandler and Ronald D. Hayes. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Mr. Huntsinger is survived by his wife, Beulah F. Huntsinger of the home; four daughters, Mary S. Nave of Rockingham, Brenda Cyrus of Wade and Linda Medeiros and Deborah Secrist, both of Eastover; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Crandall is survived by three sisters, Erma Ellis of Fayetteville, Christel Evans of Savannah, Ga., and Renate Buhnemann of Hanan, Germany; and a brother, Fritz Prywer of Hanan.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Martha Wilkes Furr, 87, of Southern Pines died Friday in Convalescent Center of Lee County in Sanford.
Mrs. Furr worked for Carter Cleaners before retiring.

Mrs. Furr is survived by two sons, Robert F. Furr of Hartsville, S.C., and Charles A. Furr of Holden Beach; three daughters, Josephine Starnes of Richmond, Va., Pauline Lloyd of Olivia and Gladys Burrows of Randleman; 27 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Conaway served 23 years in the Air Force before retiring. He was the owner and operator of Conaway’s Upholstery.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia, Ga.
Mr. Conaway is survived by his wife, Betty N. Conaway of Fayetteville; a daughter, Patti A. Fowler of Hilton Head, S.C.; three sons, Foy E. Conaway III of Savannah, Ga., and Russell G. Conaway and James E. Conaway, both of Fayetteville; his mother, Iretha C. Conaway of Vidalia; and two grandchildren.
