WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Chrissie Goins White, 83, of 4625 Smyrna Road died Sunday in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smyrna Baptist Church by the Revs. Oscar Holland and Merle Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. White is survived by three daughters, Dr. Georgia H. Shurr of Fearington Village, Donnis P. Kureck of Charlotte and Alexis J. Prease of Whiteville; a son, James A. Hooks of Lumberton; three sisters, Eileen Gore of Whiteville, Iris P. Stephens of Elizabethtown and Maxine Jordan of Clarkton; a brother, A.G. Goins of Whiteville; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at McKenzie Mortuary.

Mrs. Lizzie T. Cashwell (Dated Monday, Jan. 11, 1999)
AUTRYVILLE -- Mrs. Lizzie Tanner Cashwell, 82, of Route 3, Box 194, died Saturday in Rest Haven Nursing Home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Funeral Home by the Revs. Frank Davis and Roger Jackson. Burial will be in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Cashwell is survived by three daughters, Merlene Howell, Jean Tanner and Brenda Tanner, all of Autryville; a son, Reuben Cashwell Sr. of Autryville; a sister, Mary Tanner of Autryville; a brother, James Tanner of Autryville; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

William A. Blue, 99, of 1013 Albert St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. S. Lee Downing. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.
Mr. Blue is survived by two stepsons; a daughter, Maxine Carter of the home; a stepdaughter; three sisters, Elizabeth Hayworth of Brooklyn, N.Y., Annie Leach of Portsmouth, Va., and Hazel Coltrane of Wade; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Joseph Ervin Lilly Jr., 20, of 6802 Radial Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday.

Mr. Lilly is survived by his parents, Joseph and Trene Lilly of the home; a sister, Amanda A. Lilly of the home; his grandmother, Ethel McNair of Oakfield, N.Y.; his grandfathers, Albert McNair of Red Springs and Charles E. Lilly of Parkton; and his great-great-grandmother, Vasteen Rich of Parkton.

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Martha Herring Walters, 75, of Bladenboro died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Cook Funeral Home chapel in Lake View, S.C. Burial will be in the Elvington family cemetery near Lake View.
Mrs. Walters is survived by five sons, Rocky Bailey of Montville, N.J., Larry Bailey and Autry Walters, both of Lumberton, and Bobby Walters and Charles Walters, both of Bladenboro; four daughters, Betty Wicker of Fairmont, Martha Velliex of Lumberton, Ann Long of Bladenboro and Donna Moffett of Lumberton; three brothers, E.G. Herring of Stedman, J.W. Herring of Fayetteville and Rufus Herring of Booton, N.J.; a sister, Judy Rogers of Lumberton; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Hazel N. Thomas, 56, of 699 Mockingbird Hill Road died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by three sisters, Mary Thomas of Fayetteville and Maggie Virgil and Annie Thomas, both of Raeford; and four brothers, James E. Thomas of Fayetteville, Robert E. Thomas and Gregory Thomas, both of Raeford, and Vertis L. Thomas of San Jose, Calif.

PINEHURST -- Claude Morton, 74, of 15 Lakeshore Court died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mr. Morton was an Army veteran of World War II. He received a Purple Heart. He retired as a senior executive with Equitable Life Assurance, Columbia University’s Office of Investment and Citibank.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bole Funeral Home & Crematory chapel by Dr. Richard Leaptrott.
Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Emily C. Morton of the home; three sons, Claude C. ‘‘Camm’’ Morton of Raleigh, Richard A. Morton of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Phillip G. Morton of New York; two sisters, Caroline M. Raughley and Virginia M. McCormick, both of Birmingham, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ms. Ruth McMillan, 71, of 2101 New Hampshire Ave., formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Sunday in Washington Hospice Center.

Ms. McMillan is survived by four sisters, Grace L. Humphrey of Coatsville, Pa., Louvenia McCrimmon and Faye Johnson, both of Fayetteville, N.C., and Katie Sinclair of Tar Heel, N.C.; and seven brothers, David McMillan, Lonnie McMillan, Daniel McMillan and Kizah McMillan, all of New Jersey, Sandy McMillan of Tar Heel, Bobby McMillan of St. Louis and Leroy McMillan of Raleigh, N.C.
