Mrs. Chrissie G. White (Dated Monday, Jan. 11, 1999)

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Chrissie Goins White, 83, of 4625 Smyrna Road died Sunday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smyrna Baptist Church by the Revs. Oscar Holland and Merle Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. White is survived by three daughters, Dr. Georgia H. Shurr of Fearington Village, Donnis P. Kureck of Charlotte and Alexis J. Prease of Whiteville; a son, James A. Hooks of Lumberton; three sisters, Eileen Gore of Whiteville, Iris P. Stephens of Elizabethtown and Maxine Jordan of Clarkton; a brother, A.G. Goins of Whiteville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at McKenzie Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or to Chrissie White Floral Fund of Smyrna Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lizzie T. Cashwell (Dated Monday, Jan. 11, 1999)

AUTRYVILLE -- Mrs. Lizzie Tanner Cashwell, 82, of Route 3, Box 194, died Saturday in Rest Haven Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Funeral Home by the Revs. Frank Davis and Roger Jackson. Burial will be in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Cashwell is survived by three daughters, Merlene Howell, Jean Tanner and Brenda Tanner, all of Autryville; a son, Reuben Cashwell Sr. of Autryville; a sister, Mary Tanner of Autryville; a brother, James Tanner of Autryville; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

William A. Blue (Dated Monday, Jan. 11, 1999)

William A. Blue, 99, of 1013 Albert St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. S. Lee Downing. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mr. Blue is survived by two stepsons; a daughter, Maxine Carter of the home; a stepdaughter; three sisters, Elizabeth Hayworth of Brooklyn, N.Y., Annie Leach of Portsmouth, Va., and Hazel Coltrane of Wade; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Joseph E. Lilly Jr. (Dated Monday, Jan. 11, 1999)

Joseph Ervin Lilly Jr., 20, of 6802 Radial Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Reilly Road Church of God of Prophecy by the Rev. James Shepherd. Burial will be in Mount Hebrew Cemetery in Parkton.

Mr. Lilly is survived by his parents, Joseph and Trene Lilly of the home; a sister, Amanda A. Lilly of the home; his grandmother, Ethel McNair of Oakfield, N.Y.; his grandfathers, Albert McNair of Red Springs and Charles E. Lilly of Parkton; and his great-great-grandmother, Vasteen Rich of Parkton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Wiseman Mortuary.

Martha H. Walters (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Martha Herring Walters, 75, of Bladenboro died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Cook Funeral Home chapel in Lake View, S.C. Burial will be in the Elvington family cemetery near Lake View.

Mrs. Walters is survived by five sons, Rocky Bailey of Montville, N.J., Larry Bailey and Autry Walters, both of Lumberton, and Bobby Walters and Charles Walters, both of Bladenboro; four daughters, Betty Wicker of Fairmont, Martha Velliex of Lumberton, Ann Long of Bladenboro and Donna Moffett of Lumberton; three brothers, E.G. Herring of Stedman, J.W. Herring of Fayetteville and Rufus Herring of Booton, N.J.; a sister, Judy Rogers of Lumberton; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Hazel N. Thomas (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Hazel N. Thomas, 56, of 699 Mockingbird Hill Road died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Rockfish Grove Freewill Baptist Church by Bishop R.L. Douglas. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by three sisters, Mary Thomas of Fayetteville and Maggie Virgil and Annie Thomas, both of Raeford; and four brothers, James E. Thomas of Fayetteville, Robert E. Thomas and Gregory Thomas, both of Raeford, and Vertis L. Thomas of San Jose, Calif.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends at the home of Robert Thomas, 422 Cumberland Ave.

Bun Sturdivant Jr. (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Bun Sturdivant Jr., 58, of Rowan Mobile Home Park died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Revels Funeral Home.

Delia D. Pate (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

PEMBROKE -- Ms. Delia Deese Pate, 70, of 10463 Deep Branch Road died Tuesday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Revels Funeral Home.

Claude Morton (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

PINEHURST -- Claude Morton, 74, of 15 Lakeshore Court died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Mr. Morton was an Army veteran of World War II. He received a Purple Heart. He retired as a senior executive with Equitable Life Assurance, Columbia University’s Office of Investment and Citibank.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bole Funeral Home & Crematory chapel by Dr. Richard Leaptrott.

Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Emily C. Morton of the home; three sons, Claude C. ‘‘Camm’’ Morton of Raleigh, Richard A. Morton of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Phillip G. Morton of New York; two sisters, Caroline M. Raughley and Virginia M. McCormick, both of Birmingham, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1229 Greenwood Cliff No. 109, Charlotte, N.C. 28204.

Ruth McMillan (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ms. Ruth McMillan, 71, of 2101 New Hampshire Ave., formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Sunday in Washington Hospice Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in St. Pauls by the Rev. Bobby McKay. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. McMillan is survived by four sisters, Grace L. Humphrey of Coatsville, Pa., Louvenia McCrimmon and Faye Johnson, both of Fayetteville, N.C., and Katie Sinclair of Tar Heel, N.C.; and seven brothers, David McMillan, Lonnie McMillan, Daniel McMillan and Kizah McMillan, all of New Jersey, Sandy McMillan of Tar Heel, Bobby McMillan of St. Louis and Leroy McMillan of Raleigh, N.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Alma W. Love (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

CARTHAGE -- Ms. Alma Williamson Love, 86, of Carthage died Wednesday in her home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Culdee Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Christopher Bobo. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home of Pinehurst.

Ms. Love is survived by four brothers, B.H. Williamson and Pastor L.M. Williamson, both of Carthage, Alfred W. Williamson of Shallotte and H.A. Williamson of Southern Pines.

The family will receive friends at the home of L.M. Williamson, 161 Brinkley Road.

Lois H. King (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

GREENSBORO -- Ms. Lois Helen King, 45, of 604-C Dewitt St., formerly of Fayetteville, died Saturday in Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville by Bishop Melvin Lambert. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Ms. King is survived by Aubie Daye of the home; a daughter, Jacqueline N. King-Daye of the home; four sisters, Gertrude Robinson, Rosetta Burgess, Velma Harrison and Josephine King, all of Fayetteville; and a brother, William King of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Josephine King, 4325 Forrestview Drive, Fayetteville.

Ethel L. Hunt (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Ethel Lee Hunt, 92, of 517 Peden St. died Wednesday in Edwin Morgan Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Crumpler Funeral Home of Red Springs.

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Mildred Hall, 65, of 206 Rosewood Drive died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Gloria Fisher (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

HAMLET -- Ms. Gloria Fisher, 59, of 819 Pine St. died Thursday in Richmond County Hospital in Rockingham.

Arrangements will be announced by Nelson Funeral Home.

Matt B. Evans (Dated Friday, October 8, 1999)

DUNN -- Matt Bradford Evans, 19, of 875 Troy Parker Lane died Wednesday.

Mr. Evans was a graduate of Triton High School.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lee’s Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Hubert Morgan, Gardner Altman and Billy Hall. Burial will be in Hodges Chapel Church cemetery.

Mr. Evans is survived by his parents, Terry D. and Carolyn W. Evans of the home; a brother, Terry M. Evans of the home; and his paternal grandmother, Nora Evans of Central Lake, Mich.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.
