LINDEN -- Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer August George Snyder, 62, of 408 Anderson Road died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham
During Mr. Snyder’s career, he received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the intervention in the Dominican Republic.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville. Burial with military honors will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Snyder is survived by a daughter, Gail P. Flowers of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, John Snyder of Linden; a sister, Geraldine Snyder of Larksville, Pa.; and three grandsons.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Betty Thomas

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Brenda Kay Foeller, 53, of 427 Marlboro Ave. died Monday in her home.
Mrs. Foeller was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Westside Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Wallace Jr. Burial will be in Alloway Cemetery.
Mrs. Foeller is survived by her husband, Pete Foeller of Red Springs; a son, Kenneth W. Locklear of Red Springs; a daughter, Melissa Oxendine of Lumberton; a stepdaughter, Anne Marie Scotto of New York; four sisters, Shirley B. Brigman and Faye B. Coley, both of Fayetteville, Nancy B. Smith of Lumberton and Elanie Brock of Red Springs; and three grandchildren.

Leacy V. McKoy

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Leacy Virginia McKoy, 92, of 2894 Blossom Road died Saturday in Cape Fear valley medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Gray’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. L.R. Gibson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. McKoy is survived by four daughters, Mary M. Bryant, Retha B. Blossom and Leacy E. Blossom, all of Hope Mills, and Mamie L. Montgomery of Fayetteville; five sons, Charles H. McKoy and Calvin McKoy, both of Fayetteville, Eddie M. McKoy Jr. and Sylvester McKoy, both of Hope Mills, and Willie L. McKoy of Long Island, N.Y.; 42 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Marie F. Simpson

Mrs. Marie F. Simpson, 81, of 3612 Drayton Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her husband, Claude F. Simpson of the home; three daughters, Darlene Welcker of Raleigh, Donna Simpson of Amelia Isle, Fla., and Deborah Nimocks of Fayetteville; two sisters, Juanita Tucker of Pilot Mountain and Pearl Brown of Rural Hall; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Warren Jr. of Raleigh; five sisters, Lillian Melvin and Peggy Chisolm, both of Fayetteville, Beatrice Thompson and Callie Taylor, both of Lumberton, and Minnie Spates of Clinton; three brothers, Herbert Warren of Hartford, Conn., Harold Warren of Miami and Jessie Warren of Clinton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Lelan ‘Buddy’ Stewart

ERWIN -- Lelan ‘‘Buddy’’ Stewart, 74, of 803 S. 12th St. died Monday in Good Hope Hospital.
Mr. Stewart worked for Burlington Industries before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Williams family cemetery by the Rev. Wesley Hamilton.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Ruby T. Stewart; a son, Harry D. Stewart of Clayton; a sister, Grace S. Jackson of Goldsboro; and a grandson.

Benjamin A. Blagg

TURKEY -- Benjamin Augustus Blagg, 73, of 44 Moore St. died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
Mr. Blagg was a member of Full Gospel Chapel Church. He was an Army veteran and a retired minister.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Full Gospel Chapel Church by the Revs. Robert Kivett and Newton Tyndall. Burial will be in the Holland family cemetery.
Mr. Blagg is survived by his wife, Norma J. Blagg; three daughters, Deborah J. Blagg of Turkey, Sheila L. Blagg of Clinton and Helen R. Blagg of Warsaw; four sons, W.C. Blagg of Germany, Charles A. Blagg and Roger D. Blagg, both of Clinton, and Robert W. Blagg of Faison; two sisters, Betty A. Baker of Farmer City, Ill., and Martha Blagg of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Norris is survived by six daughters, Lena I. James of Red Springs, Ola Priest and Deloise McKoy, both of New York, Eula Mitchell of Tennessee, Juanita Wynters of Virginia and Betty Sanders of Fayetteville; five sons, James W. Norris, William E. Norris and Ray Norris, all of Red Springs, John W. Norris of Laurinburg and Jimmy L. Norris of Lumberton; two brothers, Jim Norris of Carthage and Samuel Norris of Maryland; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Mary Turner, 87, of 8651 Clark St. died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Turner is survived by a brother, Alvin Turner of Southern Pines; and three sisters, Lillie Watkins of Durham and Maggie Turner and Vernell Turner, both of Southern Pines.
Earl E. Strickland

LUMBERTON -- Earl Evie Strickland, 85, of Glen Flora Nursing Home, formerly of Fairmont, died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Strickland was a member of New Bethel Holiness Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in New Bethel Holiness Methodist Church in Fairmont by the Revs. James Woods, James E. Jones and Bruce Sweat. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Strickland is survived by an adopted daughter, Shirley S. Dial of Lumberton; an adopted son, Howard C. Strickland of Greensboro; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
