Florabel S. Hancock

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Ms. Florabel Snipes Hancock, 98, of 1704 Greenwood St. died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Ms. Hancock was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. David Wade. Arrangements are being handled by Kinlaw Funeral Home.
Ms. Hancock is survived by a son, Tom Hancock of Elizabethtown; a brother, Dr. R.D. ‘‘Dick’’ Snipes of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the home.

HOPE MILLS -- Cody Wayne Sheets, infant son of Gerald W. and Stephanie D. Sheets, of 3430 Legion Road died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville by the Rev. Wally Beardon. Burial will be in Fayetteville Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Carolyn B. Dickerson of Hope Mills; his paternal grandparents, Stephen and Diana E. Sheets of South Bend, Ind.; his maternal great-grandparents, Ben and Janie Brame and Eva K. Dickerson, all of Henderson; and his paternal great-grandmother, Elaine B. Groth of Las Vegas.

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Jessie Mae Wilkerson, 61, of Lillington died Friday in Harnett Manor Nursing Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Lillington Grove Church by the Rev. Linwood Randolph. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.
Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by three daughters, Malinda Strickland of Dunn and Janet Hurst and Robin Hurst, both of New Orleans; three sons, Percy Black, Martin Black and Eric Black, all of New Orleans; her mother, Hallie Strickland of Lillington; a sister, Corene Phillips of Lillington; and a brother, Willie Strickland of Youngstown, Ohio.

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Lillie Cummings Jacobs, 82, of 1201 Hoke Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in United Pentecostal Holiness Church by Brothers Weymon Oxendine and Donald Oxendine. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by four daughters, Ellen R. Clark and Fannie Clark, both of Red Springs, Barbara Locklear of Pembroke and Elouise Locklear of Maxton; four brothers, James R. Wynne and Elton Cummings, both of Lumberton, Amos Locklear of St. Pauls and Renner Cummings of Red Springs; a sister, Siller Cummings of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

BLADENBORO -- Lewis Hester, 44, of Bladenboro died Friday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Mr. Hester is survived by three brothers, Dewey Hester and Jerry Hester, both of Bladenboro, and Herbert Hester of Whiteville; and a sister, Myra ‘‘Carolyn’’ Standifer of Atlanta.
James W. Creswell

BENSON -- James Wilson ‘‘Jim’’ Creswell, 66, of 4567 Benson-Hardee Road died Sunday in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
Mr. Creswell retired from the Army and the Postal Service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Creswell was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Banner Post No. 109.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Don Williams and Ken Castor. Burial with military honors will be in Devotional Gardens.
Mr. Creswell is survived by his wife, Sarah D. Creswell; three daughters, Joanne J. Creswell of Benson, Terry C. Darling of Erwin and Cherylene C. Creech of Benson; two sons, Thomas W. Creswell of Benson and Walter O. Creswell of Newton Grove; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Hamilton of the home; a sister, Betty Milstead of Twinsburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
