BALTIMORE -- Mrs. Mary Helen Collien, 54, of Baltimore, formerly of Whiteville, N.C., died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Brunswick-Waccamaw Association Building in Whiteville by the Rev. Isaac B. Horton. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery in Whiteville.

Mrs. Collien is survived by a daughter, Deborah C. Bailey of Orlando, Fla.; four sons, Ronald McNeil and Greg Collien, both of Baltimore, and Fredrick Collien and Cedric Collien, both of Whiteville; her mother, Mary A. McNeil of Whiteville; four sisters, Betty M. George and Ola J. McNeil, both of Baltimore, Alice F. Buford of Orlando and Sandra Willis of Whiteville; and six brothers, Billy McNeil of Deland, Fla., Jimmy McNeil of Jacksonville, Fla., Larry McNeill of Orlando, Jerry McNeil and Alton McLean, both of Whiteville, and Neil R. Alford of Lexington, Ky.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville.

Inez M. McNeil

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Inez M. McNeil, 99, of 1303 Martin Luther died Wednesday in Woodhaven Nursing Center.

Arrangements will be announced by McMillan Funeral Home.

Ethel P. McLean

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Ethel Poe McLean, 88, of 1102 S. Caledonia Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Franklin Chapel AME Zion Church by Dr. Otis T. McMillan. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. McLean is survived by eight daughters, Elizabeth Allen of Virginia, Ruby Ware and Joann Oates, both of Laurinburg, Gwendolyn Loftin of Fayetteville, Irene Graham of Aberdeen, Mary McNeill of New York, Minnie McLean and Sarah Douglas, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lizzie Boyd of Baltimore; three sons, John McLean of Virginia, Daniel McLean of Baltimore and Roscoe McLean of Brooklyn; and a sister, Morisha Malloy of Laurinburg.

The family will receive friends at the homes of Ruby Ware, 12781 Debra Drive, and Joann Oates, 105 N. Caledonia Road.

Agnes M. ‘Nan’ Lucas

GODWIN -- Agnes Montgomery ‘‘Nan’’ Lucas, 73, of 63 Cypress Lane died Tuesday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Culbreth Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Falcon by the Rev. Danny Nelson. Burial will be in Falcon Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucas is survived by a daughter, Astrid Brown of Portsmouth, England; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home in Dunn.

Carl D. Locklear

LAURINBURG -- Carl D. Locklear, 71, of Laurinburg died Tuesday.

Mr. Locklear was the owner and operator of Carl’s Garage and Welding. He was a founding member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillside Memorial Park by the Rev. Howard Hardin.

Mr. Locklear is survived by two sons, John C. Locklear of Long Beach and Timothy D. Locklear of Key West, Fla.; four daughters, Debra L. Locklear of St. Cloud, Fla., Sharon L. Garnett of St. Pauls, Karen L. Elledge of Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Z. Burroughs of Laurinburg; three brothers, Earl Lockear of Laurinburg, Harold Locklear of Riverside, Calif., and Cardenous Locklear of Hamer, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Butler Funeral Service.

Gene Lee

Gene Lee, 82, of 921 Fiske Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Good Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Samuel McDonald Jr. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Louise Lee of the home; two daughters, Linda Shelton of Fayetteville and Lois Grimsley of Enterprise, Ala.; three sons, Donald Lee and Gregory Lee, both of Fayetteville, and James Lee of Stafford Springs, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Spring Lake Community Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Alfred J. Knight Jr.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Alfred James Knight Jr., 34, of 1040 W. Illinois Ave. died Saturday.

Elder Ricky Smith will conduct the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Peters Deliverance Church of God. Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery in Pinebluff.

Mr. Knight is survived by his parents, Alfred Knight Sr. and Jacquelyn K. Nealy, both of Southern Pines; two brothers, Alfonzo Knight and Brandon Knight, both of Southern Pines; and two sisters, Anita Miller of Panama City, Fla., and Gail Knight of Southern Pines.

The public will be received Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Simon Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 106 Dean Ave., Greenmont Apartments, Southern Pines.

Barney P. ‘Pack’ King

WILLOW SPRING -- Barney Paschal ‘‘Pack’’ King, 81, of 900 White Memorial Church Road died Wednesday in Britthaven of Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in White Memorial Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Kenneth Haines. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Overby Johnson Funeral Home of Angier.

Among Mr. King’s survivors is a sister, Clara Allen of Princeton.

Mildred M. Herthel

Ms. Mildred Marjorie Herthel, 88, of Village Green Care Center, Fayetteville, died Tuesday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, Mass. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home and Brown & Sons Funeral Home of Belmont.

Ms. Herthel is survived by two nieces.

Sarah S. Eubanks

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Sarah S. Eubanks, 75, of 107 N. Sixth St. died Tuesday.

Mrs. Eubanks was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a crossing guard before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg.

Mrs. Eubanks is survived by a daughter, Susan S. Powers of Deland, Fla.; three sons, Bruce Eubanks and Wayne A. Eubanks, both of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., and Ralph E. Eubanks of Spring Lake; a brother, Ray Sewell of Atlanta; two sisters, Nancy Hughes of Melbourne, Fla., and Kate Holden of Spring Lake; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was the former owner and operator of Thomas Brown Service Station.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Martin Groover. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Brown is survived by two daughters, Sharon B. Patterson of Broadway and Audrey S. Brown of Cleveland; a son, Rodney T. Brown of Mamers; a sister, Loraine B. Lowry of Mamers; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington and at other times at the home of Rodney Brown.
