The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Rev. George Connor. Burial will be in Old Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by a son, David E. Prevatte of Lumberton; two daughters, Annette B. Clark of Fayetteville and Thelma L. Hunt of Lumberton; a brother, Russell Ashworth; three sisters, Dolly F. Martin, Ernestine Goodman and Helen Wilkins, all of Lumberton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.
Nelmae Pegues

WINSTON-SALEM -- Ms. Nelmae Pegues, 81, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Lumberton, died Saturday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Hilly Branch Baptist Church in Lumberton by the Rev. J.M. Dunham. Burial will be in Moore’s Landing. Arrangements are being handled by Central Funeral Home.
Ms. Pegues is survived by five daughters, Bettie L. Benjamin of Chadbourn, Geneva A. Morgan, Juliette Pegues and Julie Pegues, all of Wintson-Salem, and Sarah McCullum of Dillon, S.C.; three sons, Eddie Pegues of Wintson-Salem, Joel Pegues of Sanford and James W. Pegues of Lumberton; five sisters, Mildred McLeod, Elsie McMillan and Hester Thompson, all of Lumberton, Sarah Jeffries of Petersburg, Fla., and Owena Wade of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Harvey Leonard Jr. of Lumberton; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

ROCKINGHAM -- Army Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Jerome Moore, 30, of 237 Lake View Trail died Friday.
Elder John Spruill and L.C. Ingram will conduct the funeral at 3 p.m. Sunday in Pemberton Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
Staff Sgt. Moore is survived by his wife, Vernell H. Moore of Rockingham; a daughter, Sebrena Moore of Hoffman; a son, Jeffrey Moore Jr. of Hoffman; his mother, Sylvia Moore of Hamlet; his father, Hal McLean of Laurel Hill; his maternal grandmother, Bridie Frazier of Hamlet; and his paternal grandmother, Carrie McLean of Laurel Hill.

Mrs. McKoy is survived by five daughters, Louise Thompson of Hope Mills, Doretha Smith of Lumberton and Ernestine Foster, Carolyn Roundtree and Ida Breeden, all of Fayetteville; a son, Carl ‘‘Tommy Tick’’ McKoy of Fayetteville; 32 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.
