LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mary Etta Ashworth Phipps, 68, of E-7 Briarwood Apts. died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Rev. George Connor. Burial will be in Old Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Phipps is survived by a son, David E. Prevatte of Lumberton; two daughters, Annette B. Clark of Fayetteville and Thelma L. Hunt of Lumberton; a brother, Russell Ashworth; three sisters, Dolly F. Martin, Ernestine Goodman and Helen Wilkins, all of Lumberton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Nelmae Pegues

WINSTON-SALEM -- Ms. Nelmae Pegues, 81, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Lumberton, died Saturday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Hilly Branch Baptist Church in Lumberton by the Rev. J.M. Dunham. Burial will be in Moore’s Landing. Arrangements are being handled by Central Funeral Home.

Ms. Pegues is survived by five daughters, Bettie L. Benjamin of Chadbourn, Geneva A. Morgan, Juliette Pegues and Julie Pegues, all of Wintson-Salem, and Sarah McCullum of Dillon, S.C.; three sons, Eddie Pegues of Wintson-Salem, Joel Pegues of Sanford and James W. Pegues of Lumberton; five sisters, Mildred McLeod, Elsie McMillan and Hester Thompson, all of Lumberton, Sarah Jeffries of Petersburg, Fla., and Owena Wade of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Harvey Leonard Jr. of Lumberton; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Jeffrey J. Moore

ROCKINGHAM -- Army Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Jerome Moore, 30, of 237 Lake View Trail died Friday.

Elder John Spruill and L.C. Ingram will conduct the funeral at 3 p.m. Sunday in Pemberton Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Staff Sgt. Moore is survived by his wife, Vernell H. Moore of Rockingham; a daughter, Sebrena Moore of Hoffman; a son, Jeffrey Moore Jr. of Hoffman; his mother, Sylvia Moore of Hamlet; his father, Hal McLean of Laurel Hill; his maternal grandmother, Bridie Frazier of Hamlet; and his paternal grandmother, Carrie McLean of Laurel Hill.

The public will be received Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at McNeill Funerals.

Luke Monroe

BLADENBORO -- Luke Monroe, 66, of 500 Seaboard St. died Monday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Luke AME Zion Church by the Rev. Haywood Oliver. Burial will be in Brooklyn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Monroe is survived by his wife, Rita Monroe; two daughters, Lisa Monroe of East Orange, N.J., and Kim M. Jackson of Piscataway, N.J.; two sons, Kevin Monroe of New York and Gregory Monroe of East Orange; a brother, Roscoe Monroe of Baltimore; and a sister, Lucye Chancey of Bladenboro.

Vickie McKoy

LILLINGTON -- Miss Vickie McKoy, 30, of Route 6 died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Alberta McKoy

Mrs. Alberta McKoy, 82, of 664 Monagan St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Holy Mission Secure Holiness Church by Bishop N.J. Sellers. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mrs. McKoy is survived by five daughters, Louise Thompson of Hope Mills, Doretha Smith of Lumberton and Ernestine Foster, Carolyn Roundtree and Ida Breeden, all of Fayetteville; a son, Carl ‘‘Tommy Tick’’ McKoy of Fayetteville; 32 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Jessie Maniego, 95, of 615 Williams St. died Thursday in Mary Gran Nursing Home.

Luther W. Inman

DUBLIN -- Luther Wilton Inman, 74, of Old N.C. 87 died Sunday in his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Inman, 8104 N.C. 41, Bladenboro. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory of Fayetteville.

Mr. Inman is survived by two sons, John L. Inman of Germany and Richard D. Inman of Old Fort; three daughters, Kathleen Townsend of Autryville, Joyce A. Handyside of Fosston, Minn., and Regina Solomon of Plattesburg, N.Y.; three sisters, Irene Puryear of Clinton, Pauline Parker of Elizabethtown and Edith Blackburn of Ingold; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Diane Holt of Pinehurst; two sons, Jeffery M. Holt of Portsmouth, Va., and Brian D. Holt of Clemmons; a daughter, Andrea D. Burnham of Pinehurst; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Flowers is survived by two sons, James Flowers and Andrew Flowers, both of Baltimore; a daughter, Patricia Flowers of Baltimore; a stepson, Roosevelt Loyd Jr. of Hamlet; four stepdaughters, Johnnie M. Martin, Christine Gillespie, Rosa M. York and Annie R. Terry, all of Hamlet; his father, LeGrand Ingram Sr. of Baltimore; a sister, Devinger James of Santee, S.C.; and three brothers, Harry Gillespie and Ernest Gillespie, both of Hamlet, and LeGrand Ingram Jr. of Santee.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at McEachern Funeral Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Dafford Funeral Home chapel in Dunn by the Rev. Michael Fuller. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.

Mr. Currie is survived by three sons, Jessie W. Currie Jr. of Middletown, N.Y., Keith B. Currie of Selma and Wallace Currie of Newburgh, N.Y.; three daughters, Betty J. Currie of Middletown, Cloristine Wilson of Plattekill, N.Y., and Sharon Currie of Newburgh; his mother, Bessie Burrie of Godwin; five sisters, Lacey Chance of Dunn, Della Currie of Godwin, and Ella Williams, Rosey Lashley and Annie Jones, all of Fayetteville; an adopted sister, Mary Brown of Fayetteville; four brothers, James Currie of Four Oaks, Moses Currie of Syracuse, N.Y., Pascal Currie of Fayetteville and Bernard Currie of Godwin; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Britt and John R. ‘‘Dickie’’ Britt, both of Lumberton; five daughters, Fran Muckenfuss of Adams Run, S.C., Nina R. Ortega, Sandra Willoughby and Donna Willoughby, all of Lumberton, and Teresa A. Parker of Bladenboro; a sister, Alice Stone of Chapel Hill; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Felton Boykin

Mr. Boykin is survived by his wife, Beverly Hobb of the home; two daughters, Georgia Marsalis of Raleigh and Iola Owens of the home; a son, Milford R. Boykin of Clinton; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Willis G. Bell Jr.

GOLDSBORO -- Willis Gordon Bell Jr., 69, of Goldsboro, formerly of Dunn, died Tuesday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn by Dr. Samuel Simon. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mr. Bell is survived by two brothers, Larry Bell of Niceville, Fla., and Bob Bell of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.
