RAEFORD -- Mrs. Blanche Ella McRae Purcell, 70, of 306 Cole Ave. died Friday in Autumn Care Nursing.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bowmore Tabernacle Holiness Church by Bishop William McArn. Burial will be in Platt Cemetery.
Mrs. Purcell is survived by nine sons, John Purcell and Isiah Purcell, both of Long Island, N.Y., Phillip Purcell of Detroit, Neal Purcell and Daniel Purcell, both of Durham, Douglas Purcell of Cary, Nathaniel Purcell, Paul Purcell and Timothy Purcell, all of Raeford; two daughters, Mary Little and Flossie Purcell, both of Raeford; and three sisters, Sally Sims and Texieanner McRae, both of Raeford and Beatrice Moll of St. Louis.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 7 at Buie Funeral Home.
Luther D. Lowery

Carolyn C. Currie

LAUREL HILL -- Mrs. Carolyn Coble Currie, 49, of 7741 Old Wire Road died Sunday.
Mrs. Currie was an accounts receivable manager at Rostra Precision Control. She was a member of Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Douglass Key. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Currie is survived by her husband, Dennis W. Currie Sr. of Laurel Hill; a son, Dennis W. Currie Jr. of Laurel Hill; her mother, Reba L. Coble of Laurinburg; two sisters, Patricia A. Caulder of Hamlet and Brenda J. Brazelton of Laurinburg; three brothers, Thomas W. Coble of Rockingham, William T. Coble of Charlotte and Harry Coble of Rockingham; and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.

BOLTON -- Mrs. Mary Lou Boone, 75, of 96 Cypress Ave. died Saturday in LCF Hospice Care Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Walter’s Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Florence Brown. Burial will be in Restwell Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.
Mrs. Boone is survived by six daughters, Helen Freeman and Berdie Boone, both of Wilmington, Gwendolyn Joy and Marie Boone, both of Bolton, Clara Harris of Jacksonville and Yvonne Young of Hempstead, N.Y.; a son, Henry Boone of Bolton; and a brother, Cephas Duncan of Bolton.

ST. PAULS -- Chapel Buie, 58, of 1758 Britt Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Lumberton by the Rev. Bobby McKoy. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Church cemetery.
Mr. Buie is survived by a daughter, Arlene Melvin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two brothers, James R. Buie of St. Pauls and Edward Buie of Chesapeake, Va.
William Breen

BISCOE -- William Breen, 91, of 183 White Oak Farm Lane died Monday in Autumn Care Nursing Home.
Mr. Breen was a retired maintenance worker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boles Funeral Home chapel in Southern Pines by the Rev. Charles Garrison. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Memorial in Raeford.
Mr. Breen is survived by his wife, Nellie L. Breen of the home.

CLARKTON -- Mrs. Velma Naomia Martin, 82, of 1185 Mitchell Ford Road died Monday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Mrs. Martin is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Martin of Bronx, N.Y.; a son, Grant L. Martin of Clarkton; and a brother, Contey L. Hobbs of Clarkton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.
Arthur S. Norris

SANFORD -- Arthur Sherrill Norris, 80, of 2525 Buffalo Church Road died Monday.
Mr. Norris was a roadmaster with Seaboard/CSX Railroad before retiring. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Gum Neck Freewill Baptist Church in Columbia. Arrangements are being handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Christine Norris; two sons; four daughters; a stepson; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Cooke Sr. of Warsaw; two brothers, Doug Cooke of Fayetteville and Curtis Cooke of Aberdeen; and two sisters, Connie C. Hayes of Fayetteville and Glenda D. Anthonson of Sanford.

Mr. McCormick is survived by two brothers, Hezekiah McCormick Jr. and John D. McCormick, both of Fayetteville.

WAGRAM -- Joseph McPhatter of 21781 Center St. died Sunday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg. He was 101.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Spring Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Letaz Jones Sr. Burial will be in McGill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. McPhatter is survived by a daughter, Lillian McZorn of Newark, N.J.; four sons, Duckery McPhatter and Mason McPhatter, both of Newark, and J.C. McPhatter and Johnny McPhatter, both of Wagram; three sisters, Willor McNair of Raeford, Gertrude McCaskell of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Annie Mae Harris; 106 grandchildren; and 81 great-grandchildren.

FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Katherine Johnson Page, 82, of 3885 Old Stage Road died Monday in Wesley Pines Nursing Center in Lumberton.
Mrs. Page was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a school teacher with Robeson County Schools before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark E. Gaskins and Dr. Thomas L. Rich. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Page is survived by a son, Bob Page of Fairmont; three daughters, Margaret P. Inman of Fairmont, Susan Baker of Raleigh and Cora Burke of Albuquerque, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

Lee H. Mitchell

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Staff Sgt. Lee H. Mitchell, 74, of 203 Sandclay Drive died Monday in his home.
Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4542.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Union United Methodist Church in Harnett County by the Rev. James Caviness. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Mae E. Mitchell of Spring Lake; three sons, Donald L. Mitchell of Hickory, James W. Mitchell of Fayetteville and Larry W. Mitchell of Erwin; a brother, Joe Mitchell of Durham; a sister, Ella M. Holbrook of Gastonia; and three grandchildren.
