LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Hallie Cannady Strickland, 93, of 206 S. Washington St. died Saturday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Lillington Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Linwood Randolph. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by a daughter, Corene Phillips of Lillington; a son, Willie Strickland of Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Allene Monroe of Lillington; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Howard Spraggins

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Howard Spraggins, 74, of 609 McLamb Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Spraggins formerly worked for the post office.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Cumberland Christian Center by Pastor E.B. Herman. Burial with military honors will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.
Mr. Spraggins is survived by a son, Scherrell Spraggins of Fayetteville; two brothers, Clarence Spraggins of Keysville, Va., and Timothy Spraggins of Chesapeake, Va.; three sisters, Annie Scott and Hazel Spraggins, both of Keysville, and Yvonne Winlock of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Wiseman Mortuary.
Johnnie Smith

DUNN -- Johnnie Smith, 45, of 910 E. Harnett St. died Monday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Dafford Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Alexander Lockamy. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Smith is survived by his mother, Mable Smith of Dunn; eight sisters, Mae P. Blue, Tilda M. Cousar, Shirley Brown and Lillie Campbell, all of Dunn, Geraldine Harris of Clinton, Carolyn Leake of Benson, Barbara Cohen of Fayetteville and Lillie Bowie of Washington, D.C.; and four brothers, James Smith of Fayetteville, Neil Smith of Dunn and Brooker T. McNeill and Fred Smith, both of Erwin.

Darryl Cornelius Smith, 34, of 1214 Coley Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Second Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Eugenia E. Johnson. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Donta Smith and Lamar B. Bass, both of Fayetteville; a daughter, Triangela Smith of Fayetteville; and a brother, Michael Black of Fayetteville.

Johnsie Tillman

RAEFORD -- Ms. Johnsie Tillman of 609 Haire Road died Sunday in Autumn Care Nursing Center. She was 103.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Shady Grove Baptist Church by Bishop Lynn Kiniel. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Tillman is survived by six grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great- great-grandchildren.

Justino Santiago-Vega

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Justino Sergio Santiago-Vega, 73, of 406 Virginia Ave. died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Santiago-Vega was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Father Edward J. Kita. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Santiago-Vega is survived by his wife, Ursula A. Santiago-Vega of the home; four daughters, Anna D. Santiago-Perez and Isabella R. Santiago-Vega, both of Fayetteville, Ursula T. Jurgens of Japan and Ramona H. Santiago-Vega of Sterling, Va.; a son, Justino R. Santiago-Vega of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and several brothers and sisters of Salinas, Puerto Rico.
The rosary will be recited tonight at 7 at the funeral home.

Breeze of Goldsboro, Elizabeth Walker of Washington, D.C., and Glenda McEachin of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Alice V. Jones of St. Pauls, Anna B. Lane of Tar Heel and Louvenia Lane of Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
