LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Hallie Cannady Strickland, 93, of 206 S. Washington St. died Saturday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Lillington Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Linwood Randolph. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by a daughter, Corene Phillips of Lillington; a son, Willie Strickland of Youngstown, Ohio; a sister, Allene Monroe of Lillington; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Howard Spraggins
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Howard Spraggins, 74, of 609 McLamb Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Spraggins formerly worked for the post office.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Cumberland Christian Center by Pastor E.B. Herman. Burial with military honors will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.

Mr. Spraggins is survived by a son, Scherrell Spraggins of Fayetteville; two brothers, Clarence Spraggins of Keysville, Va., and Timothy Spraggins of Chesapeake, Va.; three sisters, Annie Scott and Hazel Spraggins, both of Keysville, and Yvonne Winlock of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Wiseman Mortuary.

Johnnie Smith
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
DUNN -- Johnnie Smith, 45, of 910 E. Harnett St. died Monday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Dafford Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Alexander Lockamy. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Smith is survived by his mother, Mable Smith of Dunn; eight sisters, Mae P. Blue, Tilda M. Cousar, Shirley Brown and Lillie Campbell, all of Dunn, Geraldine Harris of Clinton, Carolyn Leake of Benson, Barbara Cohen of Fayetteville and Lillie Bowie of Washington, D.C.; and four brothers, James Smith of Fayetteville, Neil Smith of Dunn and Brooker T. McNeill and Fred Smith, both of Erwin.

The public will be received today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Darryl C. Smith

Darryl Cornelius Smith, 34, of 1214 Coley Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Second Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Eugenia E. Johnson. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Donta Smith and Lamar B. Bass, both of Fayetteville; a daughter, Triangela Smith of Fayetteville; and a brother, Michael Black of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Johnsie Tillman
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
RAEFORD -- Ms. Johnsie Tillman of 609 Haire Road died Sunday in Autumn Care Nursing Center. She was 103.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Shady Grove Baptist Church by Bishop Lynn Kiniel. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Tillman is survived by six grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great- great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Justino Santiago-Vega
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Justino Sergio Santiago-Vega, 73, of 406 Virginia Ave. died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Santiago-Vega was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

The funeral will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Father Edward J. Kita. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Santiago-Vega is survived by his wife, Ursula A. Santiago-Vega of the home; four daughters, Anna D. Santiago-Perez and Isabella R. Santiago-Vega, both of Fayetteville, Ursula T. Jurgens of Japan and Ramona H. Santiago-Vega of Sterling, Va.; a son, Justino R. Santiago-Vega of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and several brothers and sisters of Salinas, Puerto Rico.

The rosary will be recited tonight at 7 at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Zeb S. Regan
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
TAR HEEL -- Zeb Stuart Regan, 85, of 10587 N.C. 87 West died Tuesday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Bakers Creek AME Zion Church in Dublin by the Revs. Ned Graham and F.W. Hough. Burial will be in Regan Cemetery.

Mr. Regan is survived by his wife, Beulah Regan of Tar Heel; two sons, Col. Zeb S. Regan of Goldsboro and Stanley J. Regan of Coaropolis, Pa.; four sisters, Olivia Davis of Bladenboro, Alice V. Breeze of Goldsboro, Elizabeth Walker of Washington, D.C., and Glenda McEachin of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Alice V. Jones of St. Pauls, Anna B. Lane of Tar Heel and Louvenia Lane of Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. at F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary.

Catherine C. Monroe
(Dated Wednesday, December 22, 1999)
RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Catherine C. Monroe, 67, of 243 Springs Side Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Jackson Grove Holiness Church by Bishop Harry Lee. Burial will be in Community Rest.

Ms. Monroe is survived by three daughters, Irena McNeill, Mary H. Campbell and Brenda D. Monroe, all of Red Springs; two sons, Wade E. Monroe and James A. Campbell, both of Red Springs; five brothers, Neal Campbell of Queens, N.Y., Lacy E. Campbell, Bennie Campbell and James F. Campbell, all of Red Springs, and Charlie Campbell of Washington, D.C.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home.

Eunice McLaurin

Ms. Eunice McLaurin, 83, of Fayetteville died Monday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Lebanon Baptist Church by the Revs. A.C. Tatum and Wray Wheelos. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Ms. McLaurin is survived by a sister, Audrey Gower of Wilmington.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Lebanon Baptist Church.

Willie Lambert

MAXTON -- Willie Lambert, 79, of 4680 Preston Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sycamore Hill Free Will Holiness Church by the Revs. Billy D. Clark, Johnnie Chavis and Bobby D. Locklear. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Lambert is survived by six sons, Willie R. Lambert, Bill Lambert, Harvey L. Lambert and David E. Lambert, all of Maxton, Vernon Lambert of Hamlet and Micheal W. Lambert of McColl, S.C.; seven daughters, Mary C. Tyler, Dorothy Woods, Betty L. Clark, Virginia Strickland and Marie Lewellen, all of Maxton, Myrtle Brewer of Red Springs and Fannie J. Lockhart of Hillsborough; two brothers, James Lambert of Baltimore and Vernon Lambert of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Maggie L. Henderson and Alice Chavis, both of Maxton; 38 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Nathaniel Lamar

Nathaniel Lamar, 68, of 2106-B Arthur St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted in Plant City, Fla.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

Robert A. Kozma

Robert A. ‘‘Mr. Bob’’ Kozma, 63, of 1818 Dewsberry Place, Fayetteville, died Thursday.

Mr. Kozma was in the insurance business for 30 years throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Michael the Archangel Maronite Catholic Church by Father Jack Morrison. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 3.

Mr. Kozma is survived by his wife, Julia Kozma of Fayetteville; a daughter, Jan M. Lambert of Newport News, Va.; two sons, Robert A. ‘‘Tony’’ Ciszkowski of Fayetteville and Timothy K. Kozma of Parkton; a stepdaughter, Susan S. Rosell of Randolph, N.J.; three stepsons, James R. Sutton of Fayetteville and Kenneth B. Sutton and Curtis B. Sutton, both of Atlanta; two sisters, Gedelle M. Fry of Buffton, S.C., and Jo Anne K. De’Angelis of Colonial Heights, Va.; a brother, Solomon A. Kozma Jr. of Dunn; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The rosary will be recited tonight from 7 to 7:30 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, P.O. Box 2000, Fayetteville, N.C.
