Mrs. Gail Patrick Denton, 60, of 1819 Elliott Farm Road died Sunday in her home.

Mrs. Denton was an accountant at Fort Bragg before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Harnett County.

Mrs. Denton is survived by her husband, Cecil R. ‘‘Randy’’ Denton of the home; two sons, Steven Bullard of Fayetteville and Randall Bullard of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Jean Willey of Omaha, Neb., and Mildred Kirkner of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Pat Patrick of Little Rock, Ark.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Willie R. Dixon
(Dated Tuesday, December 28, 1999)
CLINTON -- Willie R. Dixon, 77, of 353 Isaac Weeks Road died Friday in Guardian Care of Kenansville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lisbon Street Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. H.R. Cogdell. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.

Mr. Dixon is survived by two daughters, Mary Moore and Jeanette Bryant, both of Clinton; five sons, Herbert Dixon, James Dixon, Norman Dixon and Willie Dixon Jr., all of Clinton, and Dallas Dixon of Dudley; a sister, Minnie Simpson of Turkey; three brothers, Charlie Watson of Jersey City, N.J., Eddie Watson of Orlando, Fla., and Tony Watson of Clinton; 32 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from noon to 6 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

Gloria N. Dawson
(Dated Tuesday, December 28, 1999)
Mrs. Gloria Jean Nichols Dawson, 48, of 6095 N.C. 87 South, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Dawson was a teacher for the Cumberland County School system.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sherwood Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David Bush. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by her husband, John Dawson of the home; a daughter, Heather D. Stevenson of Hope Mills; a son, Brian Dawson of Fayetteville; her parents, Napoleon and Minnie Nichols of Fayetteville; a sister, Marilyn Jackson of Hope Mills; and a brother, Norman Nichols of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McNeill Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mavis C. Dial

WADE -- Mrs. Mavis Crumpler Dial, 80, of 4322 Goldsboro Road died Monday in Bethesda Nursing Home.

Mrs. Dial was the owner and operator of Dial's Store in Wade. She was a member and pianist at McMillan Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McMillan Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Ray Lammers and Billy Herring. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dial is survived by her husband, James R. Dial of the home; two sons, James L. Dial and William L. Dial, both of Wade; a sister, Theresa Stone of Autryville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Arthur B. Cook
(Dated Tuesday, December 28, 1999)
CLINTON -- Arthur Bernard Cook, 73, of 5360 Reedsford Road died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Cook was a member of Holly Grove Holiness Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Cook was the founder of Cook Tire Co. before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holly Grove Holiness Church by the Revs. Randy Simmons and Tony Moore. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Josephine M. Cook; three daughters, Jean Maldonado and Susan Woodcock, both of Clinton, and Kathy Williams of Greensboro, Md.; two sons, William Cook of Covington, Va., and Bernard Cook of Goldsboro; two sisters, Virgie Reedy and Eula Meadows, both of Rural Retreat, Va.; two brothers, Ervin Cook of Rural Retreat and Frank Cook of Midlothian, Texas; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

Joshua P. Cadet
(Dated Tuesday, December 28, 1999)
Joshua Paul Cadet, infant son of Command Sgt. Maj. Eusebius P. Cadet and Florence Cadet, of 104 Seay St., Fort Bragg, died Wednesday in Womack Army Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by Chaplain McGregor. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville.

In addition to his parents, Joshua is survived by two brothers, Eusebius Cadet II and Casime Cadet; two sisters, Keedalyn Cadet and Elia Cadet; his maternal grandparents, Thomas Galloway and Beatrice Meade; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph W. and Martha Cadet.

The family will receive friends at the home.

McCOLL, S.C. -- Robert E. Blanton Sr., 83, of McColl died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McColl Church of God. Burial will be in McLaurin Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers Funeral Home.

Among Mr. Blanton’s survivors are a son, Robert E. Blanton Jr. of Wagram, N.C.; and a daughter, Patsy B. Ivey of Laurinburg, N.C.

SHANNON -- Mrs. Vivian Black, 83, of 619 Lumbardie Village Road died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in New Bethel missionary Baptist Church in Rex by Dr. Harry McGhee. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Red Springs. Arrangements are being handled by McKoy & Sons Mortuary of St. Pauls.

Mrs. Black is survived by her husband, Maxcell Black of the home; a daughter, Linda Williams of the home; three brothers, Willie P. Johnson, David Johnson and James G. Johnson, all of Rex; three sisters, Katie Lesame, Letha Mae Cromartie and Melvan Childers, all of Rex; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at New Bethel Church.

Beverly A. Barr

Mrs. Beverly Ann Barr, 65, of 4225 Sussex Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gardner’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Davis. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Barr is survived by her husband, Richard Barr of the home; a son, James H. Barr of Boston; three daughters, Deborah-Ann Denton of Fullerton, Calif., Donna L. Tabor of Fayetteville and Dorris L. Flynn of Shrewsbury, Mass.; three brothers, Howard Waterman of Santa Rosa, Calif., Henry Waterman of Marlboro, Mass., and Charles Waterman of Lillington; two sisters, Deanna Antalek of Natick, Mass., and Elaine Thivierge of Hudson, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Ada R. Brady

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Mrs. Ada Royal Brady, 89, of Newport News, formerly of Benson, N.C., died Thursday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Benson City Cemetery in Benson by the Rev. Kendell Cameron. Arrangements are being handled by Rose & Graham Funeral Home of Benson.

Mrs. Brady is survived by two daughters, Callie L. Henderson of Newport News and Jean Croswell of Melbourne, Fla.; four sisters, Aline Talley of Norfolk, Mildred Miesel of Greensboro, N.C., Louise Johnson of Orlando, Fla., and Katherine Farless of Hartsville, S.C.; a brother, Jerry D. Ennis of Benson; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hilton Baptist Church Marching into the Millennium fund, 101 Main St., Newport News, Va. 23601; or to the charity of one’s choice.

LAURINBURG -- Cedric Donte’ David, infant son of Ronald and Aggie David, of Laurinburg died Wednesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Hillside Memorial Park by the Rev. George T. Ellis. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

In addition to his parents, Cedric is survived by three brothers, Andre’ Ellerbe of Charlotte, Gary Prince of Connecticut and Ronald David Jr. of the home; a sister, Miranda Strong of Laurel Hill; his maternal grandmother, Annie P. McLean of Laurinburg; his paternal grandmother, Mamie E. David of Washington; his paternal grandfather, Joseph David of Laurinburg; and his maternal great-grandmother, Aggie McLean of Laurinburg.

Mr. Sturdivant is survived by his wife, Bobbyette Sturdivant of Southern Pines; three sons, Jeffrey Sturdivant of Carthage, Shawn Sturdivant of Centerville, Va., and Dannie Sturdivant III of Pinehurst; a daughter, Lakita Corley of Southern Pines; two brothers, John Sturdivant and Michael Sturdivant, both of Southern Pines; a sister, Linda Cameron of Johnsonville; and nine grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home.
