Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Fred D. Dumas. 78, of Pleasant Loop, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in his home.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in LaFayette Memorial Park by the Rev. Mike Davis.

Mr. Dumas is survived by a son, Donald Dumas of Fayetteville; a sister, Naomi Thrash of Montgomery, Ala.; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Lloyd E. Aiken of Fayetteville was vice president of the Pearce’s Mill Fire Department Board of Directors.

Robert McKinzie
(Dated Tuesday, November 23, 1999)
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Robert McKinzie, 72, of 908 M&M St. died Friday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Elder Alford Smith and the Rev. Florence Brown will conduct the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Zion AME Zion Church. Burial will be in First Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. McKinzie is survived by his wife, Edna McKinzie of Elizabethtown; three sons, Leroy McKinzie of Whiteville and Earnest Grimes and Kenneth Grimes, both of Elizabethtown; five daughters, Delores Richardson of College Park, Ga., and Alice Walls, Bertha McKinzie, Denise McKinzie and Donnelle McKinzie, all of Elizabethtown; three brothers, Fred McKinzie, Perry McKinzie and Ellis McKinzie; four sisters, Lois White, Robbie McBride, Louise Graham and Millie Howard; and 15 grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary.

Daniel Harden

LAURINBURG -- Daniel Harden, 68, of 1312 S. Caledonia Road died Friday in Century Care of Laurinburg.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Morris Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. William Rothwell. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Harden is survived by a daughter, Gloria J. Harden of Fayetteville; a sister, Mattie Harden of the home; two brothers, Levester Harden of Brooklyn, N.Y., and John C. Harden of Laurinburg; and three grandchildren.

Jason K. Branton

ANGIER -- Jason Keith Branton, 28, of 115 Wilbur Lane died Saturday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church in Cary. Burial will be n Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Mr. Branton is survived by his parents, Vernon and June Branton of Cary; a brother, Vance Branton of Roxboro; and his maternal grandmother, Virginia Wrenn of Roxboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Apex Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Vernon and June Branton, 415 Holtz Lane, Cary.

Fred C. Faulkner

PARKTON -- Fred C. Faulkner, 68, of 2614 Lake Upchurch Drive died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills by the Revs. Wayne Chandler and Kenny Richardson. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Mr. Faulkner is survived by his wife, Chris Faulkner; three sons, Gary Faulkner of Fayetteville, Danny Faulkner of Charlotte and Tommy Faulkner of Hope Mills; a daughter, Lisa Koontz of Fayetteville; a sister, Lois Madison of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at 5011 Steed Road, Fayetteville.

Thomas R. Bullard

PEMBROKE -- Thomas Ray Bullard, 49, of 8540 N.C. 72 West died Monday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Harpers Ferry Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles Oxendine and Gary Thompson. Burial will be in Sandcutt Cemetery.

Mr. Bullard is survived by his wife, Carolyn I. Bullard of the home; a daughter, Brooke A. Bullard of the home; a son, Austin L. Bullard of Maxton; his mother, Margaret Bullard of Pembroke; two brothers, Wilbert Bullard and Jeremy P. Bullard, both of Pembroke; and 10 sisters, Alceon Jones, Wanda Bullard, Carolyn Worriax, Connie Locklear and Martha Chavis, all of Pembroke, Elaine Clark of Rowland, Jane Smiling, Gladys Bullard and Sherry Oxendine, all of Maxton, and Deana Richardson of Charleston, S.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.

Agnes M. Smith

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Agnes Musselwhite Smith, 86, of 1631 E. Powerville Road died Monday in Woodhaven Nursing Center.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Barker’s United Methodist Church. She was a nurse at Southeastern Regional Medical Center for 16 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Barker's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stan Gallagher-Smith. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Robert A. Smith of Syracuse, N.Y.; two daughters, Alice Meares and Sandra Hursey, both of Lumberton; a sister, Virgie Willis of Lumberton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

James E. Handy

RED SPRINGS -- James Edward Handy, 85, of 57 Eastman Drive died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in L.E. Floyd Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Herbert Maynor. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Handy is survived by four sisters, Katie B. Fairley of New Jersey, Arletha McCollum and Argusta Goodyear, both of Red Springs, and Carrie Leatberwood of Michigan.

The public will be received today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara J. Leonard

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Barbara Jane Leonard, 53, of 10 Flint Court died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Leonard was a real estate broker with ReMax Prime Properties.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Village Chapel by Chaplain Glenn Miller. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Leonard is survived by her husband, David V. Leonard of the home; a son, David V. Leonard Jr. of Greenwich, Conn.; her parents, John and Martha Zimmerman of Sunbury, Pa.; and a sister, Sharon London of Sunbury.

Horace K. Beal

LILLINGTON -- Horace Kirby Beal, 63, of 222 Old Hundred Loop died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Mr. Beal is survived by his wife, Linda Beal of the home; a son, Donald R. Beal of Lillington; two sisters, Shirley Fowler of Clinton, S.C., and Rebecca Smith of Cedar Creek; two brothers, Anthony Beale and Gerald Beale, both of Cedar Creek; and a granddaughter.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Cunningham & Sons Mortuary in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Albert L. Griffin

Doralene Griffin of Fort Hood, Texas; two brothers, Ricky Griffin and Jerry Griffin, both of Orlando, Fla.; a half brother, Desmond Hassan of Fayetteville; and his grandmother, Otelia Griffin of Elizabeth City.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Helen Griffin, 7701 Spurge Drive, Fayetteville.

Charles O. Puryear

DUNN -- Charles O. Puryear, 52, of Dunn died Monday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.

A private service will be held.

Mr. Puryear is survived by his wife, Reba T. Puryear of Dunn; a daughter, Tammy P. Stewart of Dunn; a son, Charles O. Puryear II of Dunn; a brother, Paul Puryear of Dunn; three sisters, Ruth Denning, Rachel Jackson and Carolyn Smith, all of Dunn; and three grandchildren.
