The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Center Baptist Church by the Rev. Albert Singletary. Burial will be in Kelly Cemetery.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Rachel Collins of Bladenboro; a daughter, Virginia Wheeler of Hope Mills; a son, Alexander Bethea Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; and four sisters, Esther Shipman, Sadie Banks and Bernice Willis, all of Elizabethtown, and Daisy Williams of Pompano Beach, Fla.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home chapel.
Calvin L. Steele Jr.

SANFORD -- Calvin Lee Steele Jr., 19, of 225 North Ave. died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Works for Christ Bible Ministry by the Revs. Alice Hooker, Helen Cotton and Joe Mitchell. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Lee Free Will Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Watson Mortuary.
Mr. Steele is survived by his mother, Lillian C. Steele of Sanford; and two sisters, Angela L. Ingram of High Point and Pamela Steele of Sanford.
Mrs. Willow Wells

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Willow Wells, 89, of 2906 S. Old Wire Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McCormick’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Eddie Vines. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wells is survived by a sister, Charlee Porter of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church.

DUNN -- Lawrence Edward Norris Jr., 60, of 2085 Pope Road died Saturday in his home.
Mr. Norris was a retired carpenter.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jerome Pope. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Glenda S. Norris of the home; a son Johnny R. Norris of Dunn; two daughters, Debra L. Colville of Dunn and Stephanie S. Norris of the home; and four granddaughters.

WHITEVILLE -- Roscoe Burris Simmons, 76, of Whiteville died Friday in Columbus County Hospital.
Mr. Simmons was a retired farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Faulk.
Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Simmons of the home; a son, Danny Simmons of Whiteville; a sister, Pearl Clewis of Whiteville; a brother, Norwood Simmons of Whiteville; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Ellen S. Juberg

DUNN -- Mrs. Ellen S. Juberg, 73, of 1505 N. Ellis Ave. died Friday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joey Hester. Burial will be in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Skinner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Juberg is survived by her husband, Jerry Juberg of Dunn, a son, Dr. Rick Juberg of Dunn; a daughter, Carol Hutto of San Diego; a brother, Robert Skartvedt of San Diego; and five grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Penny Rosabell Robinson, 98, of 20 Indiantown Road died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by three daughters, Loretta Gavin of Camden, N.J., and LuEllen Kirby and Sarah Mason, both of Clinton; a son, Henry Robinson of New York; a brother, Charlie Underwood of New York; a sister, Annie Sinclair of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.

Mr. Clewis is survived by a son, Lewis H. Clewis of Sanford; three daughters, Patricia A. Thomas and Dale C. Spivey, both of Sanford, and Peggy Williams of New Hill; a brother, Rudolph Clewis of Charlotte; three sisters, Mildred Brown of West Point, Va., Bonnie Hunsucker of Richmond, Va., and Lois Childress of Rockingham; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Locklear was a painter for Robeson County public schools before retiring.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Sue L. Locklear of the home; five sons, Larry L. Locklear and Gerry L. Locklear, both of Lumberton, Gary W. Locklear of Maxton and Cody L. Locklear and Keith Smith, both of the home; five daughters, Betty Henderson of Shelby, Cora D. Brewington and Sherry A. Locklear, both of Lumberton, Mary Locklear of New York and Jeanette Locklear of Rowland; four brothers, James L. Locklear of Rowland, Lindberg Locklear and Carson Locklear, both of Pembroke, and Douglas Locklear of Greensboro; two sisters, Laney Hunt of Rowland and Mattie Stafford of Thomasville; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Persis Laslett

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Persis Laslett, 90, of Pinehurst died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Laslett was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Colonial Rowan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville by Dr. John Coker. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Mrs. Laslett is survived by two sons, William L. Laslett of Richmond, Va., and Basil F. Laslett Jr. of Sparks, Md.; a daughter, Lorraine L. Dinkel of Pinehurst; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.

LAURINBURG -- Louis James Essey, 81, of 1203 Charles Drive died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Essey was an Army veteran of World War II. He was the operator of Louis Essey Inc. and Essey Realty in Maxton for 45 years.
A Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Mary Catholic Church by Father Kevin Fahey. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mr. Essey is survived by two brothers, Albert Essey and Phillip Essey Sr., both of Laurinburg; and a sister, Pauline Nofal of Florence, S.C.

Ms. Moore is survived by two sons, Donald J. Moore Jr. of Cranbury, N.J., and Robert F. Moore of Cameron; a sister, Dorothy Kruger of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Irene Sykes

MAXTON -- Mrs. Irene ‘‘McNair’’ Sykes, 87, of 727 E. Wilmington St. died Thursday in Beverly Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton.
Mrs. Sykes was a member of St. George United Methodist Church. She worked at Carolina Power & Light Company for 30 years before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m today in St. George United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert A. Fairley. Burial will be in McLeod Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Carrie Hester Funeral Services.
Mrs. Sykes is survived by a son, Bernard Sykes Jr.; three daughters, Ethel Davis of Washington and Lillie A. McKoy and Linda Lynch, both of Maxton; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
