The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Worthington Funeral Home by Jack Harrison and David Butler. Burial will be in Evergreen United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Buffkin is survived by a daughter, Kim B. Blanton of Raleigh; a son, Daryle Buffkin of Cary; three sisters, Edna E. Williamson of Chadbourn, Rachel B. Bulliner of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Anne B. Gigure of Beaufort, S.C.; two brothers, Larry E. Buffkin of Elizabethtown and Clawson E. Buffkin of Chadbourn; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

COATS -- William Henry Parker, 79, of Russell Huggins Road died Friday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Collier’s Chapel Church in Linden by Dr. Ron Byrd. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Hazel Parker of Coats; a son, Richard ‘‘Dick’’ Parker; three sisters, Burline Thompson of Raleigh, Katherine Morrison of Erwin and Melba McLemore of Spring Lake; two brothers, Jimmy Parker and Kenneth Parker, both of Dunn; six sisters, Eloise Ammons of Benson, Esteline Honeycutt of Angier, Ruth Myers of Durham, Gail Toler of Roseville, Janice G. Bowden of Linden, Jean Ward of Willow Springs and Kay Addison of Warner Robins, Ga.; five grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step- great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barbara Hammond

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Barbara Jane Blanks Hammond, 53, of 1751 W.McDuffie Crossing Road died Saturday in her home.

Mrs. Hammond was a member of Saddletree Church of God. She was a seamstress.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Saddletree Church of God by Ronnie Sutton and the Revs. Millard Maynard, Ernie Hammonds. Burial will be in Oxendine Cemetery.

Mrs. Hammond is survived by her husband, Aubrey J. Hammond of the home, a daughter, Renee Hammond of High Point; her mother, Anne C. Blanks of St. Pauls; five brothers, James Blanks of Tar Heel, Buddy W. Blanks of Tampa, Fla., Harless Blanks and Woodrow Blanks, both of Lumberton, and Tommy ‘‘T.J.’’ Blanks of St. Pauls; and two sisters, Janice B. Pridgen of Lumberton and Hazel R. Walters of St. Pauls.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Martin F. Hearney

SANFORD -- Martin Francis Hearney, 79, of 293 Fairway Lane died Friday in his home.

Mr. Hearney was a veteran of World War II. He was a fire chief of Carolina Trace Fire Department.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Catholic Church by Father John Forbes. Inurnment will be in Buffalo Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mr. Hearney is survived by his wife, Polly P. Hearney of Sanford; a stepdaughter, Susan Wenzler of Williamsburg, Va.; two stepsons, James Brown of New Orleans and Buzz Brown of Keego Harbour, Mich.; a brother, Michael T. Hearney of Long Island, N.Y.; three sisters, Regena Barrett of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Betty Waltendorf of Fayetteville and Bernice Anklan of Highland Falls, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Billy W. Cummings

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Air Force Tech. Sgt. Billy Wood Cummings, 67, of 215 Cecil Ave. died Friday in his home.

Mr. Cummings was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a civil service employee on Fort Bragg before retiring. He was a Past Master of Fort Bragg Lodge No. 667. He was also a Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Spring Lake Chapter No. 333.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert A. Phipps and Jason Stone. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife, Mary E. Cummings of Spring Lake; two daughters, Janet E. Crain of Babson, Fla., and Rebecca A. Humphrey of Fayetteville; two sons, Billy W. Cummings Jr. of Autryville and James R. Cummings of Erie, Pa.; two brothers, Ivey R. Cummings and Robert B. Cummings, both of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Nancy J. Bettinger of Alexandria, VA.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Adcock Funeral Home.

Wilbert Woods

Wilbert Woods, 74, of 4200 Davis St., Apartment C, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl E. Brinkley Jr. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Woods is survived by a daughter, Gloria J. Woods of Detroit; a stepdaughter, Velma Davis of Hope Mills; a stepson, Allen Paul of Detroit; a sister, Worra Spears of Southbend, Ind.; two step-graddaughters; and four step-great-grandchildren.
