SANFORD -- Ms. Nancy Bishop King, 70, of 312 Cool Springs Road died Thursday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 7 tonight in Rogers Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Tom Loftis. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in South Hill, Va.
Ms. King is survived by a daughter; two sisters, three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight after the service at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thelma T. Jones (Dated Friday, July 2, 1999)
DUNN -- Mrs. Thelma Tart Jones, 86, of Dunn died Wednesday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church cemetery in Benson by the Rev. Phil Davis. Arrangements are being handled by Rose & Graham Funeral Home of Benson.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Clara J. Weaver of Dunn and Sue J. Johnson of Benson; a sister, Murdell T. McLamb of Dunn; a brother, Jarvis Tart of Four Oaks; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Clara J. and P.D. Weaver, 2145 Erwin Chapel Road, Dunn.
Louis Jeffreys (Dated Friday, July 2, 1999)
DUNN -- Louis Jeffreys of Dunn died Thursday in Durham Veterans Affairs Hospital.

Lonnie P. Hubbard (Dated Friday, July 2, 1999)
Retired Army Master Sgt. Lonnie Proctor Hubbard, 80, of 123 Starhill Ave., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Veterans State Nursing Home.
Mr. Hubbard was a member of the Phoenix Lodge No. 8, Long Leaf Pine Order of the Eastern Star, the Newbern Scottish Rites-White Shrine and the American Ex-Prisoners of War Inc. He worked at the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department before retiring. He was a prisoner of war during World War II in Germany.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Larry Patrick. Entombment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by two sons, Doyle W. Hubbard and Samuel P. Hubbard, both of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Brandon A. Hill (Dated Friday, July 2, 1999)
BROADWAY -- Brandon Allen Hill, 6, of Steven Luke Lane died Wednesday.
Brandon was a 1st grade student at Boone Trail Elementary School.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Leaflet Presbyterian Church by Dr. Jerry Vuncannon. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Methodist Church cemetery.
Brandon is survived by his father and stepmother, Brent and Wendy Hill of Broadway; his mother and stepfather, Sandra B. and Robert Antlitz of Sanford; a stepbrother, Nicholas W. Taylor of Broadway; three stepsisters, Tiffany A. Taylor of Broadway and Brittany D. Brown and Danillie M. Antlitz, both of Sanford; his maternal grandfather, Dale Brown of Lillington; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Hollman of Broadway; his paternal grandfather, Larry Hill of Broadway; his maternal step-grandparents, William and Frances Maynard of Mamers; and his paternal step-grandfather, Buddy Smith of High Point.

ERWIN -- Andrew Hoover Haire, 70, of 102 N. Fourth St. died Wednesday in Good Hope Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Dunn Church of God by the Revs. J.T. Honeycutt and Jerome Edwards. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.
Mr. Haire is survived by his wife, Nina G. Haire of the home; a stepson, Gary L. Riddle of Erwin; two sisters, Annie L. Weaver of Chapel Hill and Irene Howard of Taylorsville; and five grandchildren.
Ms. Mary S. Gurley (Dated Friday, July 2, 1999)
SANFORD -- Ms. Mary Scott Gurley, 85, of 706 N. Vance St. died Thursday in her home.
Ms. Gurley was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was a librarian before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Revs. Tom Loftis and Judy Drye. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Buffalo Cemetery.
Ms. Gurley is survived by a nephew and three nieces.

Retired Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Grimes Jr., 49, of 1908 Partridge Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Grimes worked for the Cumberland County School System.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tucker and Sons Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Joseph Dunham. Burial with military honors will be in LaFayette Memorial Park West.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Emily Grimes of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Grimes of the home; his mother, Etta S. Grimes; two brothers, Roscoe Grimes and Willie Grimes, both of Cleveland; and three sisters, Bevelyn Grimes, Evelyn Grimes and Eileen Grimes, all of Cleveland.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Lula Gillis, 94, of 604 Genesis St. died Tuesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hatcher’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Parkton by the Rev. Boyd Johnson Jr. Burial will be in Mount Hebrew Church cemetery in Parkton.
Mrs. Gillis is survived by two sons, William T. Gillis of Greenville and James A. Gillis of Hope Mills; three daughters, Mary F. Williams, Jannie Glass and Bertha G. Snow, all of Fayetteville; four sisters, Annie L. Benjamin, Frances Thompson, Annie M. Bazemore and Rosa L. Reid, all of Fayetteville; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Dickens is survived by her husband, Deas Dickens; two sons, Billy G. Dickens of Broadway and Randy Dickens of Sanford; a daughter, Judy D. Martin of Broadway; a sister, Beulah McNeill of Broadway; a brother, Hal Stewart of Broadway; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

ROCKINGHAM -- Vivian Lenwood Covington, 74, of 110 Hillview Circle died Monday in Richmond Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband, W. Felton Byrd of Dunn; two sons, Billy R. Godwin of Dunn and Bobby D. Godwin of Bennettsville, S.C.; a foster daughter, Alice Kenton of Willow Springs; a sister, Doris Twyford of Dunn; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
