Willie B. Nicholson (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

RED SPRINGS -- Willie B. Nicholson, 70, of 3470 Old Maxton Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Revs. Samuel Norman Sr. and W.O. McCollough Sr. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Nicholson is survived by his wife, Donnetta W. Nicholson of Raeford; four daughters, Marcella N. Ervin of Raeford, and Pearlie Whitworth, Nettie Reid and Mable J. Nicholson, all of High Point; four sons, Donnie Nicholson, Artie Nicholson, and Connell Nicholson, all of High Point, and Willie A. Nicholson of Southern Pines; his mother, Phoebe C. Nicholson of Garner; five sisters, Lela McLean of Holly Springs, Connie McNeill and Ethel McNeill, both of Lillington, Pearlie Jones of Raleigh and Minnie Lockley of Garner; six brothers, George Nicholson of Raeford, Cleveland Nicholson of Houston, Neill Nicholson of Raleigh, Henry Nicholson and Chester Nicholson, both of Washington, D.C., and Arch Nicholson of Maryland; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Raeford.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Mary C. Mulhearn (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

PINEHURST -- Ms. Mary C. Mulhearn, 77, of 205 Rattlesnake Drive, formerly of Sanford, died Monday in Manor Care of Pinehurst.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen Catholic Church by Father Albert Jennemann. Burial will be in Raleigh National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

Ms. Mulhearn is survived by two daughters, Loretta Delamere and Carol Gray, both of Sanford; a son, Ronald Mulhearn of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research, P.O. Box 981, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Beverly C. Moore (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Beverly Carlyle Moore, 76, of 5448 Dodge Court, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in his home.

Mr. Moore was veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army after 26 years. He worked for Quick Stop for 20 years before retiring. Mr. Moore was a member of the Fayetteville American Legion.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Chaplain Harry Huey. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Florine L. Moore of Fayetteville; four sons, Benjamin Moore, James D. Moore and John W. Moore, all of Fayetteville, and Dickie E. Moore of Rome, N.Y.; a brother, George Moore of Hope Mills; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake.

Ms. Verdene Miller (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Ms. Verdene Miller, 72, of 1533 Paisely Ave., Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Ms. Miller was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars ladies auxiliary.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by Father Ryszard Kolodziej. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Miller is survived by four daughters, Jolene West of Fayetteville, Aleta L. Miller of Marshall, Catherine M. Miller of Buffalo, N.Y., and Laura P. Gorman of California; a son, Casper J. Miller of Buffalo; two sisters, Letarue Perkins of Montgomery, Ala., and LaVerta Lewis of Milford, N.H.; a brother, C.L. Smith of Eldorado, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The rosary will be recited tonight from 7 to 7:30 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2840 Village Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304.

Wade McEachern (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

ST. PAULS -- Wade McEachern, 67, of St. Pauls died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by McKoy & Sons Mortuary.

Steven Mack (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Steven Mack, 31, of 2920 Catalina Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in H.M. Colvin Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Adell Baldwin. Burial was in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mr. Mack is survived by a daughter, Michelle Mack of Fayetteville; his mother, Carol Kea of Fayetteville; his father, Willie Mack of Fayetteville; and a sister, Jennifer Mack of Fayetteville.

Ms. Sarah Lowery (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

PEMBROKE -- Ms. Sarah Lowery, 91, of Pembroke died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Revels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thelma B. Love (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

NEW YORK -- Mrs. Thelma J. Berry Love, 42, of New York, formerly of Lumber Bridge, N.C., died Tuesday.

Arrangements will be announced by Jackson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thelma Jacobs (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Thelma Jacobs, 81, of 800 E. Tenth St. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Malloy Grove Free Will Baptist Church in St. Pauls by elder J.T. Baker. Burial will be in McKinnon Cemetery in St. Pauls.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by two sons, Frank Jacobs and Ellis L. Jacobs; five daughters, Mildred J. Wright, Blanche J. Lewis, Johnnie J. Brown, Betty Miller and Sarah J. Singletary; a sister, Janie McDonald; and two brothers, Albert Luke and Lacy McCrowre.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Hoyle Hathcock (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

ALBEMARLE -- Hoyle Hathcock, 75, of 1807 Blanche St. died Tuesday in Stanly Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in North Albemarle Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Grady Taylor. Burial with military honors will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home.

Among Mr. Hathcock’s survivors are a son, Terry Hathcock of Sanford; and two daughters, Emily Pokemire of Sanford and Vera Campbell of Vass.

Johnny Grimes Jr. (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Retired Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Grimes Jr., 49, of 1908 Partridge Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Tucker & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nellie M. Gay (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Nellie M. Gay, 78, of 1443 Mack St. died Wednesday in Fayetteville Health Care.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Rev. Flora Ferguson (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

DUNN -- The Rev. Flora Ferguson, 95, of Parrish Nursing Center died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Dunn Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by Bishop D.W. Elliott and elder Alexander Lockamy. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

The Rev. Ferguson is survived by two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Dafford Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Elizabeth McCormick, 307 E. Burke St., Dunn.

Ms. Jewel S. Dickens (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

BROADWAY -- Ms. Jewel S. Dickens, 84, of 113 Knowledge St. died Wednesday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

Arrangements will be announced by Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eunice M. Davis (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Mrs. Eunice McLean Davis, 64, of 1234 Hoke Loop Road, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in New Life Bible Church by Pastor Allen McLauchlin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Aaron D. Davis Sr. of the home; three sons, Ronald Davis and Larry Davis, both of Fayetteville, and Aaron Davis Jr. of San Antonio; four daughters, Laura Lloyd, Eunice Galarza, Valarie McDuffie and Michelle Davis, all of Fayetteville; three brothers, Neil McLean and Harold McLain, both of Fayetteville, and Douglas McLean of Winston-Salem; and four sisters, Helen Owens and Annie Smith, both of Fayetteville, Mary Robinson of Charlotte, and Queen Goodman of Baltimore.

The public will be received today from 3 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Kevin Cleary (Dated Thursday, July 1, 1999)

Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Kevin Cleary, 44, of 6853 Woodmark Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday.

Mr. Cleary was in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church by Father John Durbin.

Mr. Cleary is survived by his wife, Narcisa Q. Cleary of Fayetteville; three daughters, Mindy Cleary of Medford, N.J., and Coreen Cleary and Erin Cleary, both of Newport, Va.; his mother, Agnes Cleary of Medford; a brother, Richard Cleary of Neptune, N.J.; and five sisters, Karen C. Alderman of Arlington, Va., Patricia Rappa of Scotch Plains, N.J., Miriam Lucas of Medford, Maureen Sopourn of Atlantis, Fla., and Jeanne Brady of Boca Raton, Fla.

The rosary will be recited tonight from 7 to 7:30 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at the funeral home.
