EAGLE SPRINGS -- Ronald Harvey Sink Sr., 66, of 748 Possum Holler Road died Monday in his home.

Mr. Sink was an Army veteran. He worked for Perdue Inc.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tabernacle Baptist Church near Candor by the Rev. Jack Phillips. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Sink is survived by his wife, Ann S. Sink of the home; three daughters, Patricia Sink and Rhonda S. Comer, both of Eagle Springs, and Juanita S. Bean of Randleman; two sons, Ronald H. Sink Jr. of Eagle Springs and Paul C. Sink of Carthage; five sisters, Anne Ray of Bassett, Va., Lola Wray of Rocky Mount, Va., Mary Head of Homosassa, Fla., Ida Pickel of High Falls and Helen Pruitt of Sophia; three brothers, William Sink of High Point, Clyde Sink of Penhook, Va., and John Sink of Rocky Mount; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins.

Mrs. Eliza G. Scranage (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

OXON HILL, Md. -- Mrs. Eliza Gardner Scranage, 57, of Oxon Hill, formerly of Fair Bluff, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Butler Branch Baptist Church in Fair Bluff by Dr. Thomas W. Murray. Burial will be in Butler Branch Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mrs. Scranage is survived by her husband, Donald Scranage; a daughter, Tonya Gardner of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Craig Scranage and Stevie Scranage, both of Oxon Hill; her mother, Edna Gardner of Fair Bluff; four sisters, Wilhelmenia Gardner of Fair Bluff, Eula M. Rogers of Miami, Betty Patrick of Shadyside and Ethel Ward of Lumberton, N.C.; and two brothers, James C. Gardner of Atlanta and James Gardner of Marietta, Ga.

Larry Reaves (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

SPRING LAKE -- Larry Reaves, 51, of 124 Lee St. died Sunday in Womack Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Tom Brack. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Mr. Reaves is survived by his wife, Lynn H. Reaves of Spring Lake; a daughter, Jean Hammond of Hope Mills; his mother, Pauline L. Reaves of Spring Lake; a sister, Christine Nicely of Spring Lake; a brother, Walter Reaves of Spring Lake; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ralph E. Morton Jr. (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

PINEHURST -- Ralph Edward Morton Jr., 65, of 138 Windmere Road died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Morton was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the MENSA organization.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Savior Lutheran Church in Southern Pines by Pastor Scott Homesley. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home & Crematory of Southern Pines.

Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Jo-Anne L. Morton of Pinehurst; two daughters, Tracy M. Jones of Grandview, Tenn., and Julie M. Talbert of Willow Springs; two sons, Jason M. Morton of Chapel Hill and Tiffany Wedlock of Hoffman; a sister, Ruth M. Wicker of Tabor City; three brothers, John M. Morton III of Grandview, Wayne C. Morton of Roseland and Jerald C. Morton of Springs, Texas; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3101 Industrial Drive, Suite 210, Raleigh, N.C. 27609; or to FirstHealth Hospice, P.O. Box 1956, Pinehurst, N.C. 28370.

John McEachin (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

HOPE MILLS -- John McEachin, 76, of 3713 Floyd Drive died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home.

Ms. Edna G. McClellan (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

Ms. Edna G. McClellan, 72, of 609 Berwick Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

David ‘Snook’ McCall (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

NORFOLK, Va. -- David ‘‘Snook’’ McCall, 69, of 2412 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., formerly of Harnett County, N.C., died Friday.

The family will receive friends at the home of Betty R. Sanders, 41 Leanna Lane, Erwin, N.C.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn, N.C.

Milton B. Matthews Jr. (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Milton Brooks Matthews Jr., 77, of 150 Doe Trail died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

AUTRYVILLE -- Herman Olive Matthews, 82, of 3055 Welcome School Road died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Clement Baptist Church by the Rev. James Dees. Burial will be in M.M. Williams Cemetery.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Ruby D. Matthews of the home; three sons, Kenneth O. Matthews of Salemburg, Donald ‘‘Duck’’ Matthews of Autryville and Larry B. Matthews of Fayetteville; four sisters, Otha Draughon and Toka Draughon, both of Dunn, Madagline Honeycutt of Wade and Dessie Matthews of Farmville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Angelus Funeral Home in Los Angeles. Announcement made by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Joseph is survived by her husband, Errol A. Joseph of Inglewood; a son, Michael A. Walker of Ingelwood; a sister, Judith M. Kelly of Forrestville, Md.; a brother, Erskine Burgen Sr. of Washington, D.C.; and two grandchildren.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Arie L. ‘‘New York Lee’’ Childs Sr., 67, of Brooklyn, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Frank R. Bell Funeral Home.

Mr. Childs is survived by his wife, Jeanelle Childs of Brooklyn; three daughters, Jacqueline McCarter and Millie J. Poole, both of Fayetteville, and Patricia Baskerville of Brooklyn; two sons, Arie L. Childs Jr. and Michael Childs, both of Brooklyn; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

COATS -- Mrs. Iona Overbee Blackman, 85, of Route 1 died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

Ms. Gladys Bishop (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

LILLINGTON -- Ms. Gladys Bishop, 59, of Lillington died Monday in Harnett Manor Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Raven Rock Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Jerry Vuncannon. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

Ms. Bishop is survived by a brother, Oscar Bishop of Lillington.

Ms. Bertha A. Jackson (Dated Wednesday, July 14, 1999)

ST. PAULS -- Ms. Bertha Annabelle Jackson, 98, of 221 N. Fourth St. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Ms. Jackson was a member of Great Marsh Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Great Marsh Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul Langston. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Jackson is survived by two sons, Thomas G. Jackson of Fayetteville and Douglas E. Jackson of St. Pauls; a sister, Lois Sessoms of Rocky Mount; a brother, James Ivey of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McNeill Funeral Home.
