Mrs. Ethel Harris (Dated Wednesday, June 30, 1999)

MAXTON -- Mrs. Ethel Harris, 84, of 1462 J.I. Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Prospect United Methodist Church by the Revs. Bill J. Locklear, Simeon Cummings and Dell Harris. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton.

Mrs. Harris is survived by a son, Bently Harris of Maxton; three daughters, Dora Bullard and Lee B. Bullard, both of Maxton, and Linda Revels of Pembroke; two sisters, Marie Locklear of Maxton and Adell Locklear of Pembroke; a brother, Cameron Collins of Lumberton; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Mrs. Mary E. Harper (Dated Wednesday, June 30, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth ‘‘Lizzie’’ Harper, 81, of 903 Sampson St. died Sunday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Olivet Institutional Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie Bowden. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Summerville-Boykin Mortuary of Garland.

Mrs. Harper is survived by a daughter, Elaine H. Highsmith of Clinton; two sons, Ogden Harper and Vincent Harper, both of Clinton; a sister, Isabelle R. Conley of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Fred Royal of Clinton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the church.

Mrs. Lula Gillis (Dated Wednesday, June 30, 1999)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Lula Gillis of 604 Genesis St. died Tuesday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Etta Lee Cain, 91, of 301 Bladen Circle, Fayetteville, is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Billy Carter (Dated Wednesday, June 30, 1999)

BOISE, Idaho -- Billy Carter, 45, of Boise, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edith H. Bowden (Dated Wednesday, June 30, 1999)

GIBSON -- Mrs. Edith Herndon Bowden, 81, of 4261 Main St. died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

Mrs. Bowden was a member of Gibson United Methodist Church. She was a sales clerk with Belk Department Store before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Gibson United Methodist Church by the Rev. Harold Salmon. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Bowden is survived by her husband, James A. Bowden of the home; two sons, James A. ‘‘Jimmy’’ Bowden Jr. of Laurinburg and Jerry W. Bowden of the home; two daughters, Barbara B. Gardner of Baltimore and Brenda B. Dudley of Laurinburg; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home & Crematory in Laurinburg.

Memorials may be made to Gibson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 181, Gibson, N.C. 28343.

TAR HEEL -- Condary Kinlaw, 85, of 2544 Purdie Church Road died Saturday in Bladen County Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Allen Cemetery by the Rev. Jerry Beck.

Mr. Kinlaw is survived by his wife, Annie L. Kinlaw of Tar Heel.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

William ‘Randy’ Locklear

LUMBERTON -- William ‘‘Randy’’ Locklear, 44, of 2093 Moore’s Road died Saturday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his mother, Grace G. Locklear of the home; and two sisters, Patty Moore of St. Pauls and Cynthia Young of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Miss Morgan C. Hasbrouck-Perdue
(Dated Monday, March 8, 1999)
SOUTHERN PINES -- Miss Morgan C. Hasbrouck-Perdue of 155 Hillside Road died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Morgan was a senior at Pinecrest High School.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today in West End Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dudley Crawford and Dr. Grady Perryman. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Seven Lakes.

Morgan is survived by her mother and stepfather, Michelle Perdue-Peele and Ed Poole of Southern Pines; four sisters, MacKenzie, Meredith, Keri and Meridith, all of Southern Pines; and her grandparents, Ned and Carlotta Green of Seven Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morgan Hasbrouck-Perdue Arbor and Beautification Fund, care of First Bank, 580 S.W. Broad St., Southern Pines, N.C. 28387.

Ms. Mary Malloy

CARTHAGE -- Ms. Mary Malloy, 58, of 123 Camelia Loop Road died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Temple Church by Pastor Allen Moore. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines.

Ms. Malloy is survived by a daughter, Martha Malloy of the home; four sons, John Purcell, Karl Purcell, Ronnie Purcell and David Purcell, all of the home; her mother, Ina B. Malloy of Carthage; three sisters, Parthenia Shields of Vass and Rosa Malloy and Margaret Smith, both of Whispering Pines; four brothers, Charles Malloy of Raeford, Mack Malloy and Willie Malloy, both of Philadelphia, and Harrison Malloy of New Jersey; and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Glen A. Ward

CHADBOURN -- Glen Autman Ward, 49, of Rough-N-Ready Road died Friday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Ward’s Station Church of God by the Rev. Charles Dudley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Worthington Funeral Home.

Mr. Ward is survived by two sons, Gerald A. Ward of Germany and Colen L. Ward of Cerro Gordo; two daughters, Melanie Hinson of Evergreen and Summer Ward of Chadbourn; a brother, Criss Ward of Hendersonville; two sisters, Bliss W. McPherson and Anita H. Hill, both of Chadbourn; and three grandchildren.

Don K. ‘Porky’ Rains

ROSEBORO -- Don Keith ‘‘Porky’’ Rains, 51, of 1143 Reeda Branch Road died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in New Bethel Baptist Church by the Revs. Ricky Jacobs and Byron Murphy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mr. Rains is survived by Nora Stevens of Roseboro; his mother, Catherine Rains of Salemburg; and two sisters, Cathy F. King of Clinton and Deborah Boyer of Lake Waccamaw.

Mrs. Mary Jane Callahan

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Mary Jane Chavis Callahan, 74, of 2698 Mary C. Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Janie E. Jackson

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Jackson, 94, of 1206 N. Fulton Drive died Sunday in Autumn Care of Raeford.

Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in McNeill Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Larry Grady. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two sons, Murray H. Jackson of Fayetteville and Wilton F. Jackson of Columbia, Tenn.; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Murray Jackson, 7938 King Road, Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Ms. Lellon R. Hines
(Dated Monday, March 8, 1999)
DUNN -- Ms. Lellon Register Hines, 87, of 200 Cherry Lane died Saturday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

Ms. Hines was a member of Erwin United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Erwin Memorial Park by the Rev. Ken Hall. Arrangements are being handled by Price Funeral Home.

Ms. Hines is survived by a son, David K. Raynor of Florence, S.C.; a daughter, Jenny Godwin of Erwin; two brothers, Raymond Register of Tennessee and Louis Register of Florida; two sisters, Mahalia Gregory of Angier and Lettie Taylor of Lillington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Rosemond and Jenny Godwin, 701 E. Denim Drive, Erwin.

Memorials may be made to Erwin United Methodist Church building fund, 600 Denim Drive, Erwin.
