LUMBERTON -- Earlie Gladys Thompson, 88, of 3843 W. Fifth St. died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hilly Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. J.M. Dunham. Burial will be in Moore’s Landing Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson is survived by three sisters, Helen Singletary, Louise Lennon and Katie Smith, all of Whiteville.

The public will be received Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jetsie Stewart

BENSON -- Mrs. Jetsie Stewart, 87, of 876 County Line Road died Thursday in Britthaven of Smithfield.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

LUMBERTON -- Miss Yolanda Denise Liles, 13, of 1794 Lovette Road died Wednesday.

Mrs. Helen M. Lindahl

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Helen Melton Lindahl, 73, of 502 E. Ross St. died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall by Brother Charles Brutton.

Mrs. Lindahl is survived by a daughter, Lynda DeNunzio of the home; and two brothers, Billy Melton of Boone and William J. Melton of Red Springs.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shelter A in Luther Britt Park in Lumberton.

John M. McLeod

SANFORD -- John Max McLeod, 49, of Vick Keith Road died Wednesday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rogers Memorial Chapel.

Mr. McLeod is survived by his wife, Cindy F. McLeod; and two daughters, Ashley McLeod and Lindsey McLeod, both of the home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Ms. Lydia H. Starling

GOLDSBORO -- Ms. Lydia Oneta Hall Starling, 90, of Goldsboro died Wednesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Berry House and Dwight Dunning. Burial will be in Zoar Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church cemetery in Salemburg. Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home.

Among Ms. Starling’s survivors is a son, Lattie B. Starling Jr. of Laurinburg.

Chevis Boykin

CLINTON -- Chevis Boykin, 72, of 536 Byron Butler Court died Wednesday in Pitt County Hospital in Greenville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. William Boykin. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.

Mr. Boykin is survived by a sister, Maggie Chesnutt of Clinton.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

SANFORD -- Ms. Ola Mae Bush, 78, of 1532 Boone Trail Road died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Watson Mortuary.

Ms. Annie E. Brown

ST. PAULS -- Ms. Annie Elizabeth ‘‘Megger’’ Brown, 58, of 515 Woodside Ave. died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. James Robinson. Burial will be in Shiloh Church cemetery.

Ms. Brown is survived by two sons, Henry L. Stephens of St. Pauls and Jerry E. Stephens of Wilmington; her mother, Rosetta Stephens of St. Pauls; two brothers, George Stephens of Patterson, N.J., and Johnnie E. Stephens of St. Pauls; three sisters, Betty Jackson of Fayetteville, Minnie L. Turnage of High Point and Willie M. Sterling of Patterson; and four grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at McKoy & Sons Mortuary.

Ms. Bella Goode

ABERDEEN -- Ms. Bella Goode, 80, of 157 Woodrow Run died Tuesday in Pinehurst Nursing Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Pentecostal Assembly of Jesus Christ by the Rev. Bernard Curry. Burial will be in St. Peters United Church of God cemetery in Eastwood.

Ms. Goode is survived by a daughter, Elaine Holland of Omaha, Neb.; three sons, Oliver Goode Sr. of Aberdeen, Franklin Goode of Marlow Heights, Md., and Harvey Goode of Omaha; five sisters, Louise Booth of Norfolk, Va., Drissie McNeill of Patterson, N.J., Lillie McLean of Eastwood, Beverly Patterson of Charlotte and Artelious Lett of Raleigh; and three brothers, Milton McLaughlin of Southern Pines, Lewis McLaughlin of Eastwood and George McLaughlin of Raleigh.

The public will be received Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas W. Davis

ABERDEEN -- Retired Master Sgt. Thomas W. Davis, 82, of 181 Rowe Ave. died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Davis was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of S.P. Masonic Lodge No. 484, Moore County Shrine Club and the Oasis Temple. He was a 33rd degree Shriner.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Revs. Mary P. Curtis and James D. Franklin Jr. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Katheryn S. Davis of Aberdeen; a son, Thomas C. Davis of Aberdeen; a daughter, Lourine Van Etten of Concord; a brother, Vernon Davis of Oakmont, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Robert C. Hyland

SANFORD -- Robert Carl Hyland, 69, of 340 Queens Road died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Hyland was a Navy veteran. He coached girls basketball and softball for several years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Hyland is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Hyland of Sanford and Elizabeth H. Tysinger of Johnsonville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

James T. ‘J.T.’ Nance
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. -- James Thomas ‘‘J.T.’’ Nance, 76, of West Babylon, formerly of Chadbourn, N.C., died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at noon today in Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Chadbourn by the Rev. J.R. Matthews. Burial will be in Belview Cemetery in Chadbourn. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Nance is survived by his wife, Mildred Nance of Chadbourn; two daughters, Bobbie J. Todd of Lumberton, N.C., and Minnie Johnson of Wilmington, N.C.; four sons, John Nance and James A. Nance, both of Long Island, Harvey Nance of the home and Randolph Nance of Chadbourn; and three sisters, Thelma Smith of Whiteville, Betty Rouse of New Jersey and Annie Nance of Philadelphia.

Mrs. Quincy Pope

CLINTON -- Mrs. Quincy ‘‘Beauty’’ Pope, 82, of 403 Isaac Road died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Roland M. Collins Sr.

LUMBERTON -- Roland Mitchell Collins Sr., 62, of 1468 Rice Road died Wednesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Lamb family cemetery in Fairmont by the Revs. Richard Whitley, Neil Armstrong and Grady McKeithan. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Hazel E. Collins of the home; two sons, Keith Collins of the home and Roland M. Collins Jr. of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Rolanda Collins of Fairmont and Angie C. Long of Dublin; two brothers, Ertle F. Collins and Carey J. Collins, both of Lumberton; five sisters, Vera C. Sealey and Barbara C. Sealey, both of Fairmont, and Edna C. Lamb, Carolyn C. Lovin and Frankie C. Britt, all of Lumberton; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Corine Barr

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Corine Barr, 81, of 743 Bitmore Road died Tuesday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Henry D. Jones Jr. Burial will be in Little Prong Cemetery in Ash. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

E. Lassiter Byrd

LILLINGTON -- E. Lassier Byrd, 78, of Lillington died Thursday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Byrd established Byrd’s Drive-In.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Steve Gordon. Burial will be in Bunnlevel Cemetery.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Elizabeth ‘‘Toots’’ Byrd; three daughters, Sunnie Byrd of the home, Marlene Holt of Lillington and Lisa Ennis of Coats; a son, Tim Byrd of Lillington; a sister, Hazel Green of Dunn; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
