LUMBERTON -- Raeford Floyd, 57, of 121 Caple St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Arnold Walker. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Thressa A. Floyd of the home; five daughters, Tammy F. McNeil, April F. Leake and Robin Floyd, all of Lumberton, Rachel F. Nelson of Newport News, Va., and Sharon Genus of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, James Floyd and Jerotha Floyd, both of Rex; two sisters, Joyce Monroe and Carrie McMillan, both of Rex; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Byron J. Dickinson (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

SPRING LAKE -- Byron J. Dickinson, 33, of Spring Lake died July 1 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in True Victory Deliverance Tabernacle in Fayetteville. Arrangements are being handled by LaFayette Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Mr. Dickinson is survived by his wife, Teresa Dickinson of the home; a stepdaughter, Tiffeny W. Woodard of Maryland; a stepson, Gaylon Washington of Fayetteville; his father and stepmother, Robert and Liz Dickinson of Tennessee; his mother, Freda Brandenberg of Paris, Tenn.; a brother, Carlton Brandenberg of Tennessee; his paternal grandparents, O.L. and Charlene Dickinson of Tennessee; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruby W. Denton (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Ruby W. Denton, 89, of 954 Rowan Road died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Denton was a member of Rowan Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rowan Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregory Day. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Denton is survived by two sons, Lenwood N. Denton Jr. of Clinton and Bobby W. Denton of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Louise Elliott of Ponoma, Calif., Margaret McCullen of Clinton and Allene O’Rourke of Simi Valley, Calif.; two brothers, Eugene Warren of Clinton and the Rev. Clarence Warren of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ester Chavis (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Ester Chavis, 86, of Pemberton Nursing Place died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. Friday in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church by the Revs. Coolidge Cummings, Micheal Cummings and Romey Revels. Burial will be in New Bethel Church cemetery.

Mrs. Chavis is survived by two sons, William T. Brayboy of Maxton and Iron Brayboy Jr. of San Diego; two daughters, Mary L. Munger of Laurinburg and Ruth Romano of Pembroke; three stepdaughters, Delphia Dial of Latta, S.C., Allie M. Haggan of Maxton and Alice Hunt of South Carolina; a sister, Effie J. Carter of Pembroke; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.

Ms. Margaret P. Butler (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

TAR HEEL -- Ms. Margaret Prevatte Butler, 63, of 357 Old N.C. 41 died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Beck. Burial will be in the Butler family cemetery.

Ms. Butler is survived by a son, Clinton E. Butler of Waxhaw; two daughters, Lt. Col. Janice B. Ryckeley of Poquoson, Va., and Cheryl S. Chappell of Burlington; three sisters, Lib Morris and Ricky Morris, both of Bladenboro, and Shirley Skinner of Lake Gaston; and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Clinton & Margaret Butler Chime Fund, care of Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 177, Dublin, N.C. 28332.

Ms. Edith M. Breeden (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

ROCKINGHAM -- Ms. Edith Mask Breeden, 76, of 506 E. Washington St. died Wednesday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Nelson Funeral Home.

Robert L. Atkinson (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

Robert Louis Atkinson, 66, of 712 Kooler Circle, Fayetteville, died June 29 in his home.

Mr. Atkinson was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church by Dr. John W. Coker Jr. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mr. Atkinson is survived by three brothers, Allie Atkinson Jr. and Reese Atkinson, both of Fayetteville, and Harold Atkinson of Enid, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 569, Fayetteville, N.C. 28302.

Mrs. Magalene Addison (Dated Thursday, July 8, 1999)

BOSTON -- Mrs. Magalene Register Addison, 58, of Boston, formerly of Whiteville, N.C., died Saturday.

Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Willie W. Williams (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

MARSTON -- Willie Wade Williams, 73, of 16202 Zion Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in McZarn AME Zion Church by the Rev. O.E. Davis. Burial will be in McNair Cemetery.

Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter, Flondale Lee-Marvin of New York; and a sister, Hattie Malloy of Laurinburg.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home chapel.

James E. ‘Jamie’ Stone (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

LUMBER BRIDGE -- James Earl ‘‘Jamie’’ Stone, 21, of Lumber Bridge died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.

Ms. Muriel E. Stevens (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

DUNN -- Ms. Muriel Evelyn Stevens, 84, of Dunn died Wednesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Chapel Church by the Rev. Roy Nordon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Stevens is survived by a son, Wayne Stevens of Erwin; three daughters, Gail Champion of Erwin, Linda Stancil of Marysville, Calif., and Lorrene Barefoot of Calabash; three sisters, Emoline Higgins of Angier, Barnie Barr of Raleigh and La Rue Sills of Littleton; a brother, Henry Edgerton of Knightdale; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Benson.

Mrs. Lillie Smallwood (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

Mrs. Lillie Smallwood, 88, of Route 2, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

Lilbia T. Singletary (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

TAR HEEL -- Lilbia Thomas Singletary, 74, of 1585 Grimes Singletary Road died Wednesday.

Mr. Singletary worked for Atlantic Coast Line, CSX and VC & S Railroads for more than 33 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Tar Heel Baptist Church by the Rev. Darryll Hester and Martin Wilson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Kinlaw Funeral Home.

Mr. Singletary is survived by his wife, Mary B. Singletary of Tar Heel; a daughter, Mary K. Sands of Clemmonsk; a son, Lilbia T. Singletary Jr. of Tar Heel; a brother, Francis Singletary of Eastover; and a sister, Thelma Millar of Jacksonville, Fla.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the church.

Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C. 28401.

Wadis M. Simmons (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

WHITEVILLE -- Wadis Milton Simmons, 77, of Washington Street died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Simmons was the chief maintenance engineer for Columbus County Hospital for 32 years before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Antioch Baptist Church by the Revs. David Watts and Vernon Williamson. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.

Mr. Simmons is survived by two sons, Ronnie Simmons of Whiteville and Ricky Simmons of the home; four daughters, Joyce S. Ward of Las Vegas, Millie S. Ward of the home, Janette S. Ward of Boardman and Judy S. Ward of Whiteville; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home.

Lewis G. Schaefer (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Lewis George Schaefer, 61, of 736 Carnegie Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Adcock Funeral Home of Spring Lake.

Dana D. Rister (Dated Friday, July 9, 1999)

LILLINGTON -- Dana Dean Rister, 54, of 407 Oak St. died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Rister is survived by his wife, Roberta G. ‘‘Bobbi’’ Rister; a son, Dana T. Rister of Ohio; a daughter, Kelly Rister of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Amy Flanders of Germany; his mother, Beatrice S. Rister of Waterville, Ohio; two brothers, Bernard Rister of Virginia and Sid Rister of Michigan; three sisters, Patricia Rister of Florida, Mary J. Rister of Ohio and Janet L. Bingham of Bowling Green, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
