Mrs. Clyrese O. McLaurin (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

STEDMAN -- Mrs. Clyrese Owen McLaurin, 82, of Stedman died Thursday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

Mrs. McLaurin was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville by the Rev. William Pauley. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Mrs. McLaurin is survived by a sister, Elsie Carter of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, Sapona Road, Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Doretha Hargrove (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Doretha Hargrove, 66, of 106 Michael St. died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Delphine J. Fisher (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Delphine Johnson Fisher, 48, of 5832 Crestwood Drive died Thursday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in New Hope Baptist Church in Hamlet by the Rev. Theodore McDonald. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Among Mrs. Fisher’s survivors are her parents, Lacy and Minnie Johnson of Hamlet; and two sisters, Cassandra Smith and Deborah Malloy, both of Hamlet.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 6 at Nelson Funeral Home in Hamlet.

Bobby B. McLean (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

BRONX, N.Y. -- Bobby B. ‘‘Skeet’’ McLean, 60, of Bronx, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Wednesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Laurinburg by the Rev. T.R. Davis. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. McLean is survived by his wife, Mary McLean of the home; a son, Wesley McLean of Bronx; three sisters, Annie P. McLean of Philadelphia, Lillie R. Rhett of New York and Earnestine Easterling of Brooklyn; five brothers, James E. McLean of New York, Willie McLean of Baltimore, Curtis McLean of Bronx, Cecil McLean of Queens and Arthur McLean of Laurinburg; and two grandchildren.

Lewis G. Schaefer (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Lewis George Schaefer, 61, of 736 Carnegie Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Schaefer was a Vietnam veteran. He volunteered as a physician’s assistant at Methodist College.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. Gregory Williamson. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Schaefer is survived by his wife, Gisela B. Schaefer of Fayetteville; a son, Greg Schaefer of Spartanburg, S.C.; a daughter, Janet Martz of Antlers, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Leonard G. Whitesell (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

PINEHURST -- Leonard Graham Whitesell, 78, of Everette Road died Friday in St. Joseph of the Pines.

Mr. Whitesell was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Whitesell was a former Pinehurst Fire Chief and a retired general contractor.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Culdee Cemetery.

Mr. Whitesell is survived by two sons, Graham Whitesell of Durham and Rick Whitesell of Charlotte; a daughter, Lynn Sandgren of Goose Creek, S.C.; six brothers, Mark Whitesell of Southern Pines, D.H. Whitesell Jr. and Max Whitesell, both of Pinehurst, Fred Whitesell and David Whitesell, both of Troy, and Kenneth Whitesell of Carthage; and two sisters, Mary F. Mills of Palmer, Mich., and Linda Upole of West End.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Eloise and Leonard Whitesell Scholarship at Pinecrest High School, care of Rebecca Brown, Alpha Delta Kappa, 141 Ashley Lane, Aberdeen, N.C. 28315.

Mrs. Edith M. Breeden (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Edith Mask Breeden, 76, of 506 E. Washington St. died Wednesday in her home.

Mrs. Breeden was a retired teacher for the Robeson, Richmond and Scotland county schools.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Peters United Methodist Church in Hamlet by the Rev. Larry Robinson. Burial will be in Dobbins Heights Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Breeden is survived by six daughters, Stephanie Walker, Ramona Johnson, Julia Butler and Jacelyn Hayes, all of Charlotte, Angela Breeden of Durham and Flora Myers of Hamlet; two sons, Randolph Breeden Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Chester Breeden of Charlotte; and three brothers, James W. Mask, Allen G. Mask and Dr. George Mask, all of Hamlet.

The family will receive friends Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Samuel L. McPhaul (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

ROWLAND -- Samuel Lee McPhaul, 83, of 112 Benton Court died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Samuel McCormick. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jackson Funeral Home.

Mr. McPhaul is survived by his wife, Thelma McPhaul of the home; four daughters, Leola Lemon of Latta, S.C., Mary Jones of Greensboro, Zina Manning of Homer, S.C., and Jennie Nealy of Durham; four sons, David McPhaul and Willie McPhaul, both of Fayetteville, Samuel McPhaul Jr. of Detroit and Daniel McLean of Waterbury, S.C.; a sister, Lydia McLean of Rowland; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

George Lowery (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

BALTIMORE -- George Lowery, 74, of 1519 Church St., formerly of Pembroke, N.C., died Friday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Troy A. Ennis (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

BENSON -- Troy Alan Ennis, 9, of 1997 Zack’s Mill Road died Saturday in his home.

Troy was a fourth grader at McGee’s Crossroads Elementary School. He was a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Benson Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Billy Cashwell and Norman Band. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Troy is survived by his parents, T.G. and Eva C. Ennis; two brothers, Steven Pilkington of Cary and Lee Pilkington of the home; and his paternal grandparents, Thirl and Corene Ennis of Benson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.

Eric M. Hughes (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

WHISPERING PINES -- Eric Milton Hughes, 85, of 24-A Martin Drive died Friday.

Mr. Hughes was an Army veteran of World War II.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Powell Funeral Home & Crematory chapel by the Rev. Mark Wethington.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Mary F. Hughes; two daughters, Marilyn Hughes of Decatur, Ga., and Patricia Rollins of Chapel Hill; a sister, Anna R. Karow of Clinton, Miss.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Tuesday after the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Moore County Library in Carthage.

Henry E. Savage (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

FAIR BLUFF -- Henry E. Savage, 84, of Cypress Village Apartments died Friday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hickory Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Ervin Harper. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Savage is survived by his wife, Mandy Savage; a son, Jimmy Savage of Baltimore; a daughter, Paulette S. Turner of Baltimore; and four sisters, Isabel Davis of Lumberton, Ola M. Graham of Nichols, S.C., Lizzie Adams of Fair Bluff and Ruth Chestnut of Wampee, S.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville.

Mrs. Everleaner Cameron (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

BUNNLEVEL -- Mrs. Everleaner Cameron, 77, of 1220 McLean Chapel Road died Saturday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Miss Sarah C. Peden (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

BROWN SUMMIT -- Miss Sarah Cooley Peden, 83, of 2139 Scott Road, formerly of Wagram, died Saturday in Beverly Health Care in Greensboro.

Miss Peden was a nurse before retiring. She was a member of Montpelier Presbyterian Church in Wagram.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Greensboro. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Spring Hill Cemetery in Wagram by the Rev. Jim Johns.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Sallie M. Peden, 21940 W. Bundy St., Wagram.

Memorials may be made to Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 2303 Lee’s Chapel Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27405; or to Montpelier Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 407, Wagram, N.C. 28396.

Mrs. Mary E. McEachin (Dated Sunday, July 11, 1999)

MAXTON -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McEachin, 80, of 902 E. Rockingham Road died Thursday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

Mrs. McEachin was a nurse at Scotland Memorial Hospital before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Matthews AME Zion Church by Dr. Thurman McGougan. Burial will be in McLeod Cemetery.

Mrs. McEachin is survived by her husband, Fred D. McEachin of the home; and a foster daughter, Doris J. McLaurin of New York.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Carrie Hester Funeral Service.
