RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Pearlie Mae Locklear, 80, of 2989 Daniel McLeod Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Crumpler Funeral Home.

Clarence C. Williams (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

Clarence C. Williams, 70, of 231 Treetop Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at the home of Deborah McNair, 1391 Garner St., Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

Gregory D. Aiken Sr. (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

Deacon Gregory David Aiken Sr., 36, of 314 Badger Court, Fayetteville, died Friday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Aiken was a deacon at Deliverance Fellowship Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by Apostle G.W. Boyd. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Aiken is survived by his wife, Melba L. Aiken of the home; four sons, Gregory D. Aiken Jr., James N. Aiken, John A. Aiken and Jared M. Aiken, all of the home; two brothers, Bernard Aiken of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Anthony Aiken of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Doris Headen of Orlando.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Roland Spell (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

ROSEBORO -- Roland Spell, 81, of 4730 Huntley School Road died Sunday in Southwood Retirement Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Freedom Baptist Church by the Revs. Ivan Byrd and Osborne Wade. Burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts.

Mr. Spell is survived by his wife, Doris F. Spell of Roseboro; four children, Bernice Soat of Bradford, Mass., Janice Salamone of Saugus, Mass., Carole Cerezola of Peabody, Mass., and Roland J. Spell of St. Thomas; seven stepchildren, John W. Rogerson of Cary, Sylvia Rominger of Boone, Brenda McCullen of Clinton, J.W. Jackson of Faison, Rickey Jackson of Dunn, Larry Wise of Benson and Patricia Pope of Coats; two sisters, Dorothy Tonks of Woburn, Mass., and Naomi Martines of Bedford, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; 14-step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Annie C. Smith (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

MAXTON -- Ms. Annie C. Smith, 66, of 163 Melinda Road died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Revels Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Isaac Rogers (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

WHITEVILLE -- Isaac Rogers, 93, of 150 Pleasant Hill Road died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home.

Herbert E. Stewart (Dated Tuesday, September 7, 1999)

BENSON -- Herbert E. Stewart, 81, of 606 W. Harnett St. died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 am. today in West & Dunn Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Curtis Tatum and Condary Ellis. Burial will be in Bethsaida Church cemetery.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Joyce Y. Stewart; three sons, Paul E. Stewart, Wayne R. Stewart and Scott C. Stewart, all of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Ruth Horton and Ruby Castle, both of Richmond, and Anera McLamb of Benson; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Benson Rescue Squad.

Ms. Delma Irene Dunaway, 86, of Fayetteville is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Johnny A. Underhill (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

Johnny Allen Underhill, 51, of 1309 Kittrell Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Cross Creek Cemetery by Dr. Allen C. Edens Jr.

Mr. Underhill is survived by his wife, Julia S. Underhill; two sons, Bradford A. Underhill and Michael B. Underhill, both of Fayetteville; a sister, Sue Ella Adams of Grantham; two brothers, George T. Underhill of North Carolina and Ray Underhill of Navejo, Texas; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Ms. Elizabeth L. Scott (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

ST. PAULS -- Ms. Elizabeth L. Scott, 88, of 6944 Barker Ten Mile Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Union Chapel Community Baptist Church in Lumberton by the Revs. James A. Hunt and Jimmy Strickland. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton.

Ms. Scott is survived by three sons, Alton Scott of Hampstead, Md., Eartle B. Scott of Lumberton and Hilton J. Scott of St. Pauls; five daughters, Catherine Jacobs and Genner L. Locklear, both of Rowland, Martie N. Oxendine of Pembroke, Geraldine Oxendine of Lumberton and Evelyn Scott of St. Pauls; 23 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Saint Pauls Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Catherine Sanderson (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

Mrs. Catherine Theresa Sanderson, 88, of Fayetteville died Monday.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Hope Mills by Father Thomas J. Gaul. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Johnstown, Pa.

Mrs. Sanderson is survived by a daughter, Corrine Burhard of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

The rosary will be recited tonight at 8 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5050 Oak St., Hope Mills, N.C. 28348.

Gwendolyn Sampson (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

Miss Gwendolyn Sampson, 48, of 2324 Regan St., Fayetteville, died Monday in Glendale Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Glendale, Calif.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mildred McSwain.

Arrangements will be announced by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Ralph E. Sager (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Ralph Eldred Sager, 80, of Fayetteville died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A private service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.

Mr. Sager is survived by his wife, Carmen J. Sager of Fayetteville; four daughters, Betty S. Dedge of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Linda Knuckles of St. Petersburg, Fla., Sandy Garrison of Ulster, Pa., and June Shaffer of Sayre, Pa.; a stepson, Hector Villagran of Wilmington; a sister, Doris Every of Sayre; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Ms. Ruth S. Reynolds (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Ms. Ruth Simmons Reynolds, 79, of Elizabethtown died Monday in Bladen County Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oliver Cemetery in Marietta by the Rev. Dave Litton.

Ms. Reynolds is survived by a son, Richard Reynolds of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Bruce S. West of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

Ms. Annie B. Pevia (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Annie Bell Pevia, 81, of 2485 Duffie Road died Sunday in Pemberton Place Nursing Center.

Ms. Pearl A. Norris (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

SANFORD -- Ms. Pearl Ammons Norris, 73, of 1515 Woodland Ave. died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Miller-Boles Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.

Ms. Norris is survived by a son, Clarence Norris of Sanford; a brother, Floyd Ammons of Roseboro; a half sister, Regina Bradshaw of Roseboro; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Willie B. Nicklson (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)

RED SPRINGS -- Willie B. Nicklson, 71, of 3470 Old Maxton Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Ms. Ella Verdine Miller, 72, of 1533 Paisley Ave., Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
