MIAMI -- Ms. Margaret E. Doran of 9157 S.W. 22 Ave., Apartment 302, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Wednesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville by the Rev. Brent Rector. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No.3 in Fayetteville.

Ms. Doran is survived by two daughters, Patricia Moretti of Miami and Faye Pappas of Toms River, N.J.; a sister, Frances Seymour of Clayton, Ga.; four brothers, Neil McDonald of Charlotte, N.C., Ralph McDonald of Goldsboro, N.C., and Erie McDonald and Hugh McDonald, both of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.

Robert D. Greene, 64, of 2597 Hope Mills Road, Lot 4, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in his home.

Among Mr. Greene’s survivors is his wife, Deanna H. Greene of Lumberton.

Mrs. Luegenia Butler (dated Saturday, July 17, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Luegenia Butler, 84, of 1101 Concord School Road died Thursday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by the Rev. Varnie Fullwood. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Butler is survived by four daughters, Maggie B. McDonald and Lessie B. Williams, both of Fayetteville, Albertine B. Goodman of Clinton and Ruby B. DeMesme of Oakton, Va.; two sons, the Rev. James F. Butler and Paul Butler Jr., both of Fayetteville; a sister, Caldonia Ellis of Newburgh, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Butler & Son Funeral Home in Roseboro.

Aubra C. ‘A.C.’ Bracey (dated Saturday, July 17, 1999)

FAIRMONT -- Aubra Carl ‘‘A.C.‘‘ Bracey, 74, of 4503 N.C. 41 South died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Bracey was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. He was a barber and a farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Centerville Baptist Church by the Rev. Ed Wilcox. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Bracey is survived by his wife, Yvonne B. Bracey of the home; and five sisters, Marilyn Allen of Latta, S.C., Elizabeth Britt of Nashville, Tenn., Nell L. Porter of Fairmont, Eleanor Grainger of Columbia, S.C., and Ann Fowler of Proctorville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services and at other times at the home.

Victor Bostic (dated Saturday, July 17, 1999)

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Victor Bostic, 74, of Washington, formerly of Gibson, N.C., died Thursday.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home.

Edwin T. ‘Eddie’ Baker (dated Saturday, July 17, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Edwin Thompson ‘‘Eddie’’ Baker, 89, of 550 Bailey Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Baker owned and operated V. O. Baker & Son Oil Co. and was a distributor for American Oil Co. for more than 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Albans Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Baker was a Shriner.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Meadowbrook Cemetery by the Rev. Joe Bounds.

Mr. Baker is survived by two sons, Edwin T. Baker Jr. of Columbia, Tenn., and Jame V. Baker of Lumberton; a daughter, Emily B. Skinner of Lumberton; a brother, Charles W. Baker of Lumberton; a sister, Nell B. Preher of Lullman, Ala.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 938, Lumberton, N.C. 28359.

Miss Christina M. Miller

VASS -- Miss Christina Marie Miller, 15, of 110 Digger Drive died Thursday.

Christina was a student at Union Pines High School.

A private memorial service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Christina is survived by her parents, Benjamin and Cynthia Miller of Vass; a sister, Travis L. Coplen of Vass; her maternal grandparents, Bill and Charlotte Manning of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and her paternal grandmother, Elisabeth Harrison of Portsmouth, Va.

Ms. Betty S. Vann

(dated May 23, 1999)
Ms. Betty Jewel Sims Vann, 64, of 132 Huntsville Circle, Fayetteville, died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Robert Yoder. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.

Ms. Vann is survived by a daughter, Diane V. West of Fayetteville; three brothers, Jerry D. Sims, John W. Sims Jr. and Pete R. Sims, all of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Colleen R. Jordan of Ocala, Fla., and Carol J. Baker of Graham, Wash.; and two grandsons.

Mrs. Dora Winters

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Dora Winters, 57, of 709 Dixie Drive died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Freedom Assembly of God Church by the Revs. Montana Locklear, Jackson Locklear and Hedrick Jones. Burial will be in Shannon Assembly of God Church cemetery.

Mrs. Winters is survived by four sons, Charles Koening, Donald Winters, Carl Winters and T.J. Winters, all of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Donald R. Locklear of Wilson Mills, Toby D. Locklear of Charleston, S.C., and Bobby Locklear of Shannon; five sisters, Carrie M. Locklear of Lumber Bridge, Brenda Brewer of St. Pauls, Katie B. Locklear of Shannon, Diane Chavis of Red Springs and Bonnie Locklear of Aberdeen; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.

Pvt. Zebedee Whitfield, 18, of 814 Deep Creek Road, Fayetteville, died May 14.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Good Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Samuel McDonald Jr. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Pvt. Whitfield is survived by his mother Rose M. Whitfield-Owens of the home; his father, Anthony Whitfield of New Bern; a sister, Chantal J. Owens of the home; and his grandmothers, Flora Williams of Fayetteville and Issie M. Owens of Salemburg.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Ms. Mary D. Layton

WALTERBORO, S.C. -- Ms. Mary Virginia Davenport Layton, 89, of 298 Teakwood Drive, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Saturday in Colleton Medical Center.

Ms. Layton was a member of St. Jude’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of Pinehurst Women’s Exchange in Pinehurst, N.C.

A cryptside service will be conducted at noon Monday in Pinelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Southern Pines, N.C., by the Rev. Jim Lewis. Arrangements are being handled by Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.

Ms. Layton is survived by a daughter, Cathie Layton of Walterboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, 907 Wichman St., Walterboro, S.C. 29488.

Mrs. Gussie Mae Stephens, 80, of 6121 Louise St., Fayetteville, died Friday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills by Father Omoviekovwa Nakireru. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband, Joseph Stephens; a son, Joel P. Stephens of Corpus Cove, Texas; a daughter, Delma Stephens of the home; and three grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Mount Hebrew AME Zion Church by Dr. T.R. Jones Jr. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Verlene Simmons of the home; two sons, James A. Simmons Jr. of the home and Robert McLeod of Charlotte; five daughters, Lena Foushee of Carrboro, Margaret S. Snow, Jeanette S. Brown and Shirley Blue, all of Fayetteville, and Emily R. Elliott of Raleigh; a brother, Frank Kelly of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Wiseman Mortuary.Mrs. Evelyn F. Saunders Mrs. Evelyn Faulk Saunders, 83, of 510 Pearl St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cornellion Nixon-Davis Nursing Home in Wilmington.

Mrs. Saunders was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4 by the Rev. Carl Frazier. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Saunders is survived by her husband, George ‘‘Hirum’’ Saunders of the home; two daughters, Eleanor B. Brown of Wilmington and Barbara B. Laviner of Surf City; a son, Clayton R. Biggs Jr. of Fayetteville; a stepdaughter, Laura S. Bolger of Baton Rouge, La.; a stepson, George ‘‘Bo’’ Saunders of Fayetteville; a sister, Margaret Baker of Gastonia; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Jerry R. Rhodes

SANFORD -- Jerry Ryden Rhodes, 54, of 102 Randolph St. died Friday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Rhodes is survived by his mother, Minder R. Rhodes of Sanford; a sister, Doris Douglas of Sanford; and two brothers, Steve Rhodes of Ridge Springs, S.C., and Thomas W. Rhodes of Clayton.
