James C. ‘J. C.’ Black Jr.
WHITEVILLE -- James Calvin ‘‘J. C.’’ Black Jr., 76, of 589 Krissy Preace Road died Friday in his home.
Mr. Black was a retired farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in McKenzie Mortuary chapel by the Rev. Lavern Leigh. Burial will be in Smyrna Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Black is survived by a niece.
Richard J. Batts

ABERDEEN -- Richard Jackson Batts, 79, of Aberdeen died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Batts was a Word War II veteran. He worked for Johnson Motor Lines for 27 years before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Boles Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel in Southern Pines. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
Mr. Batts is survived by his wife, Mary W. Batts of Aberdeen; three sons, Jimmy Hartle of San Jose, Calif., Jesse Hartle of Dallas and Wayne Hartle of Ellerbe; three daughters, Judy Smith of Marshville, Janice Bennete of Stanwood, Wash., and Debbie Fowler of Aberdeen; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

SALEMBURG -- Dallie James Autry, 68, of 971 Payton Daniels Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Mount Elim Baptist Church by the Rev. W.H. Calcutt. Burial will be in the Autry family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.
Mr. Autry is survived by his wife, Frances F. Autry of the home; two daughters, Gail A. Ziady of Salemburg and Michelle A. Honeycutt of Autryville; a brother, Hubert Autry of Salemburg; a sister, Berline Pitts of Erwin; and three grandchildren.
Luther W. Turner Jr.

HICKORY -- Luther Wilson Turner Jr., 79, of Hickory, formerly of Dunn, died Friday in Frye Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Turner was a station agent for Durham & Southern Railroad before retiring.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn by the Rev. Steve Pegram.
Mr. Turner is survived by a daughter, Toni T. Massey of Hickory; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at Skinner Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Cromartie Hill AME Zion Church cemetery by the Rev. Elizabetha McLeod. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie & Cunningham Mortuary.
In addition to his parents, Syre is survived by his maternal grandmother, Annie F. Jefferson of Clarkton; and his paternal grandparents, Allen and Kim Wooten of Clarkton.

Mr. Timm was a physician assistant at Pinehurst Surgical Clinic.
A Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. Timm is survived by his wife, Debbie S. Timm of the home; a son, Nate A. of the home; a daughter, Brittany of the home; two brothers, Herb Timm of Winnetka, Ill., and Bob Timm of Delavan, Wis.; and a sister, Beverly R. Timm of Janesville, Wis.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.

Bullard of Lumberton; four sisters, Willie M. Ray of Fayetteville, Ruby T. Bullard and Mittie J. Burden, both of Parkton, and Katie Ray of St. Pauls; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Floyd Helms and John Wallace. A private burial will be held at Great Marsh Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Saint Pauls Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rountree is survived by her husband, Walter D. Rountree of St. Pauls; two sons, Walter B. Rountree of Banner Elk and Bradley H. Rountree of the home; her mother, Peggy J. Hall of St. Pauls; and a brother, Michael E. ‘‘Mike’’ Hall of Long Beach.
