Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Edward F. Blackwell

HOPE MILLS -- Edward Franklin Blackwell, 71, of 2645 Cypress Lakes Road died Saturday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home.

James C. ‘J. C.’ Black Jr.
WHITEVILLE -- James Calvin ‘‘J. C.’’ Black Jr., 76, of 589 Krissy Preace Road died Friday in his home.

Mr. Black was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in McKenzie Mortuary chapel by the Rev. Lavern Leigh. Burial will be in Smyrna Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Black is survived by a niece.

Richard J. Batts

(dated May 23, 1999)
ABERDEEN -- Richard Jackson Batts, 79, of Aberdeen died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Batts was a Word War II veteran. He worked for Johnson Motor Lines for 27 years before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Boles Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel in Southern Pines. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.

Mr. Batts is survived by his wife, Mary W. Batts of Aberdeen; three sons, Jimmy Hartle of San Jose, Calif., Jesse Hartle of Dallas and Wayne Hartle of Ellerbe; three daughters, Judy Smith of Marshville, Janice Bennete of Stanwood, Wash., and Debbie Fowler of Aberdeen; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

George H. Barrett

DUNN -- George H. Barrett, 78, of Dunn died Saturday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Arrangements will be announced by Skinner Funeral Home.

Dallie J. Autry

SALEMBURG -- Dallie James Autry, 68, of 971 Payton Daniels Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Mount Elim Baptist Church by the Rev. W.H. Calcutt. Burial will be in the Autry family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.

Mr. Autry is survived by his wife, Frances F. Autry of the home; two daughters, Gail A. Ziady of Salemburg and Michelle A. Honeycutt of Autryville; a brother, Hubert Autry of Salemburg; a sister, Berline Pitts of Erwin; and three grandchildren.

Luther W. Turner Jr.

(dated May 23, 1999)
HICKORY -- Luther Wilson Turner Jr., 79, of Hickory, formerly of Dunn, died Friday in Frye Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Turner was a station agent for Durham & Southern Railroad before retiring.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn by the Rev. Steve Pegram.

Mr. Turner is survived by a daughter, Toni T. Massey of Hickory; a granddaughter; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at Skinner Funeral Home.

Stanley Nakoneczny

(dated May 23, 1999)
WILMINGTON -- Stanley Nakoneczny, 50, of 511 Queen St. died Wednesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Nakoneczny is survived by a daughter, Angela Martinez of Fayetteville; and a grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.

Mrs. Caroline H. Hadden

(dated May 23, 1999)
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- Ms. Caroline Hilton Hadden of Summerville died Friday in Charleston Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Dorchester-Waylyn Baptist Church. Burial will be in Limestone Baptist Churchyard in Dorchester. Arrangements are being handled by Northwoods Stuhr Funeral Home.

Among Mrs. Hadden’s survivors is a daughter, Lydia W. Doherty of Fayetteville, N.C.

Evy J. Wright (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

ST. PAULS -- Evy Joe Wright, 38, of Page Lake Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by McKoy & Son Mortuary.

Syre T. Wooten (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

CLARKTON -- Syre Ta’Awnte Wooten, infant son of LaTonya L. Jefferson and Allen D. Wooten, of 5839 U.S. 701 died Thursday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Cromartie Hill AME Zion Church cemetery by the Rev. Elizabetha McLeod. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie & Cunningham Mortuary.

In addition to his parents, Syre is survived by his maternal grandmother, Annie F. Jefferson of Clarkton; and his paternal grandparents, Allen and Kim Wooten of Clarkton.

John H. Williams Jr. (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

John H. Williams Jr., 69, of 722 Sage St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

Timothy R. Timm (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

SOUTHERN PINES -- Timothy R. Timm, 44, of Southern Pines died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Timm was a physician assistant at Pinehurst Surgical Clinic.

A Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mr. Timm is survived by his wife, Debbie S. Timm of the home; a son, Nate A. of the home; a daughter, Brittany of the home; two brothers, Herb Timm of Winnetka, Ill., and Bob Timm of Delavan, Wis.; and a sister, Beverly R. Timm of Janesville, Wis.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.

Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Foundation Cancer Unit, P.O. Box 3000, Pinehurst, N.C. 28374.

Ola G. Thompson (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

Mrs. Ola Geneva Thompson, 54, of 5604 Hardwick Lane, Lot No. 12, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Malloy’s Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Parkton by Elder J.T. Baker. Burial will be in Malloy’s Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by a daughter, Barbara McLeod of Fayetteville; four brothers, Thomas J. Bullard and James W. Bullard, both of Parkton, John L. Bullard of Hope Mills and Vonnie L. Bullard of Lumberton; four sisters, Willie M. Ray of Fayetteville, Ruby T. Bullard and Mittie J. Burden, both of Parkton, and Katie Ray of St. Pauls; and two grandchildren.

The public will be received Monday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara McLeod.

Booker T. Stevenson (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

CLINTON -- Booker T. Stevenson, 74, of 1-A Summerwood Apartments died Saturday in Southwood Nursing & Retirement Center.

Emma L. St. Clair (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

Mrs. Emma Lucas St. Clair, 79, of Fayetteville died Friday in Agnes Adcox Home Inc.

The family will receive friends at the home of Dorothy Usher, 228 Temple Ave.

Arrangements will be announced by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Patricia H. Rountree (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Patricia Hall ‘‘Patti’’ Rountree, 44, of 729 N. Wilkerson Drive died Friday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Floyd Helms and John Wallace. A private burial will be held at Great Marsh Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Saint Pauls Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rountree is survived by her husband, Walter D. Rountree of St. Pauls; two sons, Walter B. Rountree of Banner Elk and Bradley H. Rountree of the home; her mother, Peggy J. Hall of St. Pauls; and a brother, Michael E. ‘‘Mike’’ Hall of Long Beach.

The family will receive friends after the service at First Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Duke University Medical Center, attention Dr. P. Kelly Marcolm, Box 3147, Durham, N.C. 27710; or to First Baptist Church youth department, St. Pauls, N.C.

Maggie S. Ross (dated Sunday, September 12, 1999)

BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. -- Mrs. Maggie Frances Stubbs Ross, 92, of 1623 McCormick Road died Saturday in Dundee Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Boykin United Methodist Church by the Revs. Walker Jackson and Gene Harris. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Gibson, N.C.

Among Mrs. Ross’ survivors is a daughter, Dora Abernethy of Laurinburg, N.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
