Mable J. Medlin (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
BENSON -- Mrs. Mable Johnson Medlin, 92, of 1905 N.C. 50 North died Friday in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
Mrs. Medlin was a member of Benson United Methodist Church. She was on the board of the Mary Duncan Public Library.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Benson City Cemetery by the Rev. Bobby Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Rose & Graham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Medlin is survived by two sisters, Ernestine Parker and Muriel Nicholls, both of Benson.
The family will receive friends at the home.

Mamie F. McLamb (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
FOUR OAKS -- Mrs. Mamie F. McLamb, 93, of 2019 Allen Crossroads Road died Friday.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church by the Revs. Sam Worley and Hubert Morgan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. McLamb is survived by a daughter, Edna Moore of Newton-Grove; two sons, Bruce McLamb and Eugene McLamb, both of Four Oaks; three sisters, Lydia Williams of Erwin, Allie Nowell of Four Oaks and Louise Hanney of Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Benson.
Dorothy J. McBryde (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
DUNN -- Mrs. Dorothy J. McBryde, 57, of 302 N. Elm Ave. died Saturday in Britthaven of Smithfield.

Mildred G. Henry (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mildred Green Henry, 83, of 106 Orange St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Henry was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Biggs Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Barry J. Bryan and Greg Long. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Henry is survived by a daughter, Donna K. Byrd of the home; a son, Eugene Henry of Maxton; two brothers, Wallace Green of Six Mile, S.C., and Otis Green of Lumberton; a sister, W.H. Price of Lumberton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Elaine J. Goins (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
RAEFORD -- Ms. Elaine Jacobs Goins, 46, of Raeford died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Deauntae T. Gaskins (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
Deauntae Trelon Gaskins, infant son of Latasha Felton and Michael D. Gaskins, of 129 Ashley St., Fort Bragg, died Monday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rockfish Memorial Park by the Rev. Victor Dabney. Arrangements were handled by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.
In addition to his parents, Deauntae is survived by his maternal grandmother, Sandra Gloves of Fort Bragg.
John Evans (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
John Evans, 62, of 814 Silk Lane, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cunningham & Sons Mortuary chapel by Bishop Wayne Street. Burial will be in Spring Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Hope Mills.
The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

WHITE OAK -- Vernon Marshall Edge, 79, of 1500 N.C. 53 West died Saturday in Sunrise Care and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabethtown.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Suggs Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. David Rutland, Chris Humphreys and Warren Hill. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Edge is survived by his wife, Margaret G. Edge of the home; a daughter, Rosalie E. Baker of Elizabethtown; a son, David L. Edge of White Oak; two sisters, Mattie E. Britt of Wilson and Marian Sims of Winder, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

CLARKTON -- Ms. Melvina Davis, 91, of 499 Booker T. Washington School Road died Friday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Josephine Davis Crews, 67, of 6129 Overhills Road died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Crews was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Jack Dawsey.
Mrs. Crews is survived by two sons, Rusty Crews and J.C. Crews, both of Spring Lake; two daughters, Dee-Dee Coffman and Leslie Inman, both of Spring Lake; two brothers, George Davis and Grover Davis, both of Jacksonville; five sisters, Mable Watt and Berniece Blakemore, both of Virginia Beach, Va., Ann Watson of Swansboro, Linnie Dawsey of Cape Carteret and Vivian Jarman of Sneads Ferry; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the home.
Solomon Covington (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
ANGIER -- Solomon Covington, 34, of 237 W. Lillington St. died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Cutts Chapel by the Rev. Thomas Washington. Burial will be in Angier Community Cemetery.
Mr. Covington is survived by two sons, Solomon Covington III and Dequan Covington, both of Garner; a daughter, LaMika McNeill of Lillington; his mother, Annie R. Covington of Angier; his father, Gene Covington of Fuquay-Varina; three brothers, Sidney Covington of Lillington and Curtis Covington and Anthony Ragland, both of Angier; two sisters, Vanessa Covington and Annette Ragland, both of Angier; and his grandparents, George and Spencer Ragland of Angier.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 at the church.
Etta T. Caddell (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
WEST END -- Mrs. Etta Thomas Caddell, 84, of Dowd Road died Friday in St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Rev. Ed Johnson. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.
Mrs. Caddell is survived by three daughters, Jean C. Christian of Saxis, Va., Hazel C. Rogers of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dorothy C. Kicklighter of Aberdeen; two sons, Robert L. Caddell and Marshall Caddell, both of West End; two half sisters, Betty Lambert of Robbins and Annie R. Rogers of Ellerbe; three half brothers, Hardin Mofield and Dallas Mofield, both of Aberdeen, and Eugene Mofield of Bedford, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Bobby Caddell, Holly Grove School Road, West End.
Roderick Byrd (dated Sunday, August 15, 1999)
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Roderick Byrd, 75, of Melbourne, formerly of Harnett County, N.C., died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Mr. Byrd was a member of the Lillington Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington, N.C., by Father Michael Langston. Burial will be in Bunnlevel Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd is survived by a daughter, Rebecca B. Cooke of Raleigh, N.C. and a brother, Foster B. Byrd of Denton, Texas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

SANFORD -- Ms. Mallie Mae Simmons Buchanan, 77, of 2807 Montclair Circle died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home by the Rev. Roy McLamb. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.
Ms. Buchanan is survived by a son, Steve Buchanan of Sanford; two daughters, Gloria Stone of Sanford and Pat B. Covington of Rockingham; two brothers, Joe Simmons of Carthage and Bill Simmons of Kure Beach; four sisters, Jane Williams of Carthage, Kathleen Maness of Sanford and Irene Wright and Vera Gaines, both of Greensboro; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
