ADDOR -- Mrs. Ellawise ‘‘Tommy’’ Horton, 74, of Addor died Monday.

Mrs. Horton was a member of New Zion AME Zion Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Elizabeth Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. John McNeill. Arrangements are being handled by Jones & Little Funeral Services of Aberdeen.

Mrs. Horton is survived by nine daughters, Clara Blue and Pamela Horton, both of Southern Pines, Edell Horton, Wanda Horton, Annie King and Lillian Smith, all of Addor, Rebecca Roach of Greensboro and Barbara Gibson and Cynthia Horton, both of Hoffman; four sons, James Horton, David Horton, Lewis Horton and Anthony Horton, all of Addor; 49 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Elizabeth Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Lula M. Turner
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
CLINTON -- Ms. Lula Mae Turner, 88, of Mary Gran Nursing Center died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Turner was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home by the Revs. Alan Overton and Rudolph Massey. A private burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Turner is survived by a son, James L. Turner of Clinton; a daughter, Hattie M. Turner of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; and two sisters, Betsy B. Fisher of Jacksonville, Fla., and Nora Pietrezak of Adelphi, Md.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3131 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, N.C. 28403.

Forrest Williams Jr.
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
SPRING LAKE -- Forrest Williams Jr., 62, of 600 Aspen Ave. died Monday in Cape Fear Valley medical Center in Fayetteville.

Elder Purdie Elliott Jr. and the Rev. T.R. Jones will conduct the funeral at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mount Hebrew AME Zion Church in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Anderson Creek Holiness Church cemetery.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Edna O. Williams of the home; three daughters, Wanda Morisette, Tammy Smith and Priscilla Gray, all of Fayetteville; three sons, Jackie Williams of Detroit, Tony Williams of Lillington and Richard King of Spring Lake; a stepdaughter, Brenda Bland of Spring Lake; three stepsons, Samuel Ray, George Ochletree and Robert Ochletree, all of Fayetteville; two sisters, Clementine Talley and Vivian Pennie, both of Fayetteville; two brothers, Amos G. Williams of Lakewood, Wash., and Talmadge M. Williams of Detroit; and 15 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

William Eady
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class William Eady, 85, of 526 Helen St., Fayetteville, died Monday.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Chaplains Jeff Just and Tommy Warren. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Eady is survived by four sons, Walter G. Eady of Tusuwerdia, Ala., James L. Eady of Seaside, Calif., John Campbell of Fayetteville and Lt. Col. Walter B. Eady of Fairburn, Ohio; and a sister, Carolyn Abernathy of Tusuwerdia.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Thomas D. Hudson
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
TURKEY -- Thomas Dail Hudson, 66, of 171 Hudson St. died Wednesday in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.

Mr. Hudson was a farmer before retiring. He was a merchant and produce broker. Mr. Hudson was an Army veteran. He was a member of Turkey United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Turkey United Methodist Church by the Rev. Donnie Davis. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

Mr. Hudson is survived by two daughters, Becky Hudson of Turkey and Debbie Hudson of Clinton; three sons, Alan Hudson of Harrells, Randy Hudson of Turkey and Tommy Hudson of Raleigh; three sisters, Edith Sellers of Wilmington, Betty Register of Morganton and Dorothy Honeycutt of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Roy ‘Frankie’ Raynor
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
LINDEN -- Roy ‘‘Frankie’’ Raynor, 59, of 4586 Linden Road died Wednesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home in Dunn by the Rev. Tommy Raynor. Entombment will be in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.

Mr. Raynor is survived by his wife, Judy S. Raynor of the home; three sons, Robert ‘‘Butch’’ Raynor of Erwin, William R. Raynor of Dunn and Paul F. Raynor of Linden; a daughter, Leola R. Beasley of Coats; a brother, James F. Raynor of Linden; three sisters, Linda Morris of Linden and Catherine Wuornos and Shirley Denton, both of Coats; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Leon N. Gooden
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
COUNCIL -- Leon Neal Gooden, 78, of Council died Tuesday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Mr. Gooden was a veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jim Bartlette. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gooden is survived by his wife, Lou Lilly Gooden of Council; two stepdaughters, Mary Lou Jessup of White Lake and Loretta Howell of Council; for stepsons, Jimmy Hines of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Johnny Hines of Shallotte and James Smith and Jerry Smith, both of Council; five step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church.

Jerome L. Peterson
(dated Thursday, December 30, 1999)
DELCO -- Jerome Lennon Peterson, 32, of Delco died Tuesday.

Mr. Peterson worked for International Paper Co. He was a member of Cheerful Hope Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm. Friday in Cheerful Hope Baptist Church by the Revs. Graham Reynolds and Elmore Strickland. Burial will be in Peterson Cemetery.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his parents, D.J. and Joyce H. Peterson of Delco; two sisters, Kimberly P. Walters of Bonlee and Alison Peterson of Delco; his maternal grandparents, J.W. and Elvia M. Harrelson of Delco; and his paternal grandmother, Berta L. Saunders of Delco.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKenzie Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to ADR Fire & Rescue Squad, Columbus County Gideons or to the charity of one’s choice.

Elly K. McBride

Mrs. Elly Klein McBride, 73, of 2444 George Owen Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. McBride was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Salvation Army Citadel by Capt. Sherman Cundiff. Arrangements are being handled by Reeves Funeral Home of Hope Mills.

Mrs. McBride is survived by a son, Raymond McBride of Charlotte; a brother, Hans Klein of Los Angeles; a sister, Anekee Lamb of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Fayetteville, 220 E. Russell St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.

Truman Thames

Retired Army Master Sgt. Truman Thames, 39, of 815 Deep Creek Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Good Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Samuel McDonald Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Thames is survived by his wife, Donna Thames of the home; four daughters, Diana Thames, Valerie Thames, Michelle Thames and Sheila Thames, all of the home; his parents, Truman and Coreather Thames of Fayetteville; two brothers, Tyrone Thames of Compton, Va., and Joseph Thames of Hawaii; a sister, Shellarentta Hollis of Apex; and his paternal grandmother, Katie Thames of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Frances Lock

Mrs. Frances Lock, 74, of 1018 Deep Creek Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Viola O. Gandy

PEMBROKE -- Ms. Viola Oxendine Gandy, 79, of 206-A Dial Terrace died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Gospel of Grace in Maxton by the Revs. Buck Bowens, Ricky Locklear and Grady Chavis. Burial will be in Maynor’s Cemetery.

Ms. Gandy is survived by two sons, Eugene Oxendine and William ‘‘Bill’’ Oxendine, both of Pembroke; three daughters, Pauline McNeill of Rowland and Winnie Brown and Joyce Gandy, both of Pembroke; a brother, Horace Oxendine of Charlotte; five sisters, Cassie Mae Locklear and Ruby Mae Locklear, both of Laurinburg, Gertrude Hunt and Beulah Lee Hunt, both of Rowland, and Verona Scott of Pembroke; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home.
