LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Almenia P. Collins McKinnon, 72, of 2305 Arnold St. died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville by Bishop R.L. Garner. Burial will be in Community Rest Cemetery in Red Springs.
Mrs. McKinnon is survived by three daughters, Brenda Collins and Katie McKinnon, both of Fayetteville, and Claudia McKinnon of Lumberton; two sons, Eric McKinnon and Frederick McKinnon, both of Fayetteville; three brothers, Henry Collins Jr. of Fayetteville, James D. Collins of Hampton, Va., and Ernest D. Collins of Baltimore; three sisters, Maggie L. Mobley of Charlotte and Lillie O. McLean and Melba O. Brady, both of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at the home of Lillie McLean, 2105 Cowan St., Fayetteville.
Hermie E. Morgan

BROADWAY -- Hermie Ennis Morgan, 91, of 212 Mansfield Drive died Wednesday in Convalescent Center of Lee County.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Broadway Presbyterian Church by Dr. Harold Stone. Burial will be in Broadway Town Cemetery.
Mr. Morgan is survived by a son, Billy R. Morgan of Broadway; a daughter, Bettie L. King of Broadway; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Smith Funeral Home.
John S. Bateman Sr.

LUMBERTON -- John Scarborough Bateman Sr., 79, of 152 Long Branch Drive died Wednesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Mr. Bateman was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a Mason.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Sam Warner. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.
Mr. Bateman is survived by two sons, Joe Bateman of Lumberton and Robert E. Bateman of Roswell, Ga.; a daughter, Mary E. Stevens-Simmons of Wilmington; a sister, Nell Fields of St. Pauls; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory and at other times at the home of Joe Bateman, 228 Long Branch Road, Lumberton.

LILLINGTON -- James F. Brewer, 76, of Lillington died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ed Rogers. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Brewer is survived by two daughters, Patricia Cronk and Mitzie Fellers, both of Texas; three sons, Billy Brewer of Lillington and Doug Brewer and Kerry Brewer, both of Oklahoma; five sisters, Faye Benson, Geneva Brewer, Learl Henry and Ima J. Finch, all of Arkansas, and Irma Bosson of Ohio; a brother, Robert Spurling of Arkansas; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Billy Brewer.
Calvin W. Godfrey

SANFORD -- Calvin Wesley Godfrey, 74, of 4000 Farrell Road died Tuesday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Shallow Well Church cemetery by the Rev. Donnie Thompson. Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.
Mr. Godfrey is survived by two sisters, Nell Clark of Sanford and Edna Kea of Louisville, Miss.

TABOR CITY -- Mrs. Christine Williams, 72, of 24781 Peacock Road died Saturday in Premier Living in Lake Waccamaw.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Roland Williams; four daughters, Peggy Gore and Wanda Williams, both of New Haven, Conn., Loretta Williams of Tabor City and Myra Moody of Wilmington; three sons, Roland D. Williams, Linwood Williams and Oscar L. Williams, all of Tabor City; and four sisters, Lerrie D. Johnson of Marmoneck, N.Y., Shirley Chatman of Hamden, Conn., Louvenia McDuffy of Buffalo, N.Y., and Carolyn Johnson of Sumter, S.C.
William C. Riddle

CARTHAGE -- William Caddell Riddle, 91, of 1103 Crabtree Road died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mr. Riddle was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a farmer before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Revs. Ed Johnson and Tom Herndon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Riddle is survived by his wife, Dora C. Riddle; a daughter, Maxine R. Sanders of Carthage; three sons, Wayne Riddle, Cecil Riddle and Van Riddle, all of Carthage; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Among Mr. Williams’ survivors are his wife, Mary A. Williams of the home; three sisters, Betty Johnson, Margaret Ann Williams and Elnois Williams, all of Warsaw; and four brothers, Jackie Williams, Jimmy Williams and Edward E. Williams, all of Warsaw, and Joe Williams of Fayetteville.

RAEFORD -- James William Canady Sr., 82, of 204 N. Magnolia St. died Tuesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Canady was an accountant and broker for Canady-Knight Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Phillips. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum in Fayetteville. Arrangements are being handled by Jenigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
Mr. Canady is survived by his wife, Daisy K. Canady of Raeford; a daughter, Sue C. Hubbard of Fayetteville; a son, J.W. ‘‘Bunk’’ Canady Jr. of Fayetteville; a stepson, Tony K. Thurman of Fayetteville; two sisters, Elsie C. Crumpler of Parkton and Patricia of Florida; a brother, Tommy Canady of Summerfield; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Mr. Cantrell was an Army veteran.

Mr. Cantrell is survived by his parents, John D. and Betty J. Cantrell of Fayetteville; and two brothers, John D. Cantrell Jr. and Jeffery R. Cantrell, both of Fayetteville.
