FAIR BLUFF -- Lonnie Davis, 64, of 350 Rogers St. died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hickory Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Nelson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Frosty B. Davis; two daughters, Judy Edge of Fair Bluff and Lorie A. Smith of Lumberton; two sons, William Davis and Jerry Davis, both of Fair Bluff; and two brothers, Johnny Davis of Dillon, S.C., and David Jones of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville.

Mrs. Wreath W. Lanier (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

BUNNLEVEL -- Mrs. Wreath W. Lanier, 83, of Bunnlevel died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Harmony Baptist Church by the Revs. Joe Dillon and John Kroh. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lanier is survived by three daughters, Ann Patterson of Lillington, and Audrey Strickland and Sarah Strickland, both of Bunnlevel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Burns (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Dorothy Jane McPhail Burns, 58, of 6024 Zion Church Road died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Burns was a retired waitress and cashier. She was a member of Lees Chapel Christian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, secretary, treasurer and choir member.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lees Chapel Christian Church by the Revs. James Bowden, Ernest Mason and Emerson Woodal. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her husband, Eugene G. Burns; a son, Richard A. Norris of Deep River; a daughter, Karen N. Dortch of Miami; her mother, Pennie M. Hall; two sisters, Ruby A. Capps and Betty J. McCracken, both of Sanford; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lees Chapel Christian Church, 1135 Lees Chapel Road, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Mrs. Vanessa H. Jacobs (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Vanessa Hunt Jacobs, 38, of 540 Union School Road died Monday in her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Elrod Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Elrod Baptist Church by the Revs. Gary Chavis, Bobby Burns and Bobby J. Hunt. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Services of Fairmont.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her husband, Johnny Jacobs of the home; a son, Raymond L. Hunt of the home; a daughter, Lora A. Jacobs of the home; three brothers, Roger R. Hunt of Pembroke, and Leslie G. Hunt and Jamie Hunt, both of Reidsville; a sister, Alice F. Hunt of Pembroke; and her paternal grandparents, Sanford and Vertis Hunt of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the church and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Vivian M. Williams (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

PHILADELPHIA -- Mrs. Vivian McMillian Williams, 68, of Philadelphia, formerly of Hamlet, N.C., died Thursday in University Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in McNeill Funeral Home chapel in Rockingham, N.C., by the Rev. John Ervin. Burial will be in Dobbins Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Bernice Sims of Rockingham; and one granddaughter.

Meredith S. Senter (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

LILLINGTON -- Meredith S. Senter, 70, of Lillington died Monday in his home.

Mr. Senter was owner of Senter Tractor Company in Raleigh. He served on the Ford Tractor Dealers Association national board and was chairman of the Carolina Equipment Dealers Association. Mr. Senter was a member of both the Raleigh and Garner Chambers of Commerce, a former board member of the Bank of Lillington and a board member of Triangle Bank. He was a member of Lillington Baptist Church, Figure Eight Island Church and Lillington Masonic Lodge. He was an officer and director of Harnett Memorial Park.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lillington Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Morris. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Harnett Memorial Park.

Mr. Senter is survived by his wife, Maxine C. Senter of the home; three sons, Meredith S. Senter Jr. of Virginia, Michael S. Senter of Cary and Max S. Senter of Massachusetts; three brothers, John A. Senter of Lillington, Dr. William J. Senter of Raleigh and Grayson Senter of Fuquay-Varina; a sister, Virginia Currin of Chalybeate Springs; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lillington Baptist Church, P.O. Box 670, Lillington, N.C. 27546, or to a favorite charity.

William R. Elam (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

SOUTHERN PINES -- William R. Elam, 66, of Southern Pines died Monday in his home.

Mr. Elam served as chief executive officer of the Bank of Candor and as senior vice-president of both Mid-South and Centura Banks of Southern Pines. He was a member of the North Carolina Bankers and the American Banker’s Associations. Mr. Elma was an Army veteran, a member of the Moorehead scholarship committee of UNC, and a former director of Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Grade Perryman. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.

Mr. Elam is survived by his wife, Carolyn W. Elam; two sons, Michael Elam of Greensboro and Capt. Eric Elam of Southern Pines; a brother, Hoyle M. Elam of Candor; two sisters, Rachel Kenion and Betty J. Harris, both of Candor; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Powell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Emilie M. Redmon (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

Mrs. Emilie M. Redmon, 73, of 325 N. Cool Springs St., Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Heritage Place.

Arrangements will be announced by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Willie O. Thurman (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- Willie Orville Thurman, 52, of Gaithersburg, formerly of Hallsboro, N.C., died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Light Baptist Church in Hallsboro. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Memorial Park in Hallsboro. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Thurman is survived by his wife, Janice Thurman; two sons, Willie O. Thurman II of Glenolden, Penn., and Anthony D. Greene of Silver Spring; two daughters, Angela Thurman of Glenolden and Sarah Thurman of the home; two sisters, Phyllis Ramseur of Glenolden and Mary L. Horne of Hallsboro; and two brothers, Wesley J. Thurman of Williamstown, N.J., and Laconya Thurman of Hallsboro.

William ‘Buddy’ Lennon (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

SOUTH OZONE PARK, N.Y. -- William H. “Buddy” Lennon, 57, of South Ozone Park, formerly of Whiteville, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Whiteville by the Rev. Henry McGill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Lennon is survived by his wife, Sallie Lennon; a son, Jermaine Lennon of Jamaica; 10 sisters, Mary Toon and Nellie Winston, both of Lexington Park, Md., Catherine Lewis and Jean C. Lennon, both of Brooklyn, Shirley Jones of Selma, N.C., Betty Edwards and Lillian McEachin, both of Maxton, N.C., Alice Perry of Clopton, Ala., and Gearldine Lennon and Sylvia Duncan, both of Whiteville; and five brothers, Herman Lennon of Riverdale, Ga., James L. Lennon of Uniondale, and Shady Lennon, Thomas Lennon and John Lennon, all of Whiteville.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sylvia Duncan and Geraldine Lennon, Whiteville.

Robert ‘Rocky’ Coons (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

RAEFORD -- Robert “Rocky” Coons, 62, of Raeford died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by LaFayette Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Thomas A. McNeill (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

DUNN -- Thomas Alford McNeill, 44, of 355 Fred Smith Road died Sunday in Laurel, Miss.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Buffalo Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford.

Mr. McNeill is survived by his mother, Alma S. McNeill of Dunn; and two sisters, Brenda Smith of Dunn and Becky Binkley of Graham.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Johnnie Munnalley (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Johnnie Munnalley, 78, of 16928 Jessica Road died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home.

Raymond S. Mitchell (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

STEDMAN -- Raymond Stuart Mitchell, 88, of 640 Blawell Circle died Sunday in his home.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Stedman Lodge.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro by the Rev. Eric Linblade. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Esther N. Mitchell; and two sisters, Marguerite Kleinfield of Charlotte and Frances M. Brient of Roanoke, Va.

Robert ‘Jack’ Coleman (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

BLADENBORO -- Robert “Jack” Coleman, 67, of Bladenboro died Tuesday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Arrangements will be announced by Lewis Funeral Home.

Bobby R. West (dated Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997)

BENSON -- Bobby Ray West, 49, of 791 Tarheel Road died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Banner Post No. 109.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. C.H. Lee. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. West is survived by his wife, Diane J. West; a stepdaughter, Renee Ennis of the home; his mother, Ruby B. West of Four Oaks; two brothers, Otis West of Knightdale and Joe West of Morehead City; and two sisters, Frances Turnage of Dunn and Theresa West of Clayton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
