LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Pearlie Williamson, 82, of 1004 McGirt Bridge Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Allen Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Vernell McAdoo. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Williamson is survived by a son, John C. Williamson of Laurinburg; and two daughters, Lee E. Hines of New York and Annie P. Oates of Monroe.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home.

Russell Ewing (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

MARSTON -- Russell Ewing, 77, of 25260 Newton Road died Monday in Autumn Care of Raeford nursing home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Spring Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. John Daniels. Burial with military honors will be in Silver Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Ewing is survived by his wife, Margaret Ewing of the home; four brothers, Lonnie Ewing of Fayetteville, Hyder Massey Sr. of Wagram, Solomon Ewing of Ellerbe and Charles Ewing of New York; and three sisters, Mary Massey of Edgemoor, S.C., Perdetha Fowler of New York and Mattie Malloy of Maxton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Morris Funeral Home in Laurinburg.

Walter ‘Bill’ Page (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Walter ‘Bill’ Page, 66, of Highway 701 South died Tuesday in his home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday in New Pait Cemetery by the Rev. Billy Hardee.

Mr. Page is survived by a son, Edward Page of Lilesville; and a daughter Karen Page of Lilesville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home in Bladenboro.

Franklin F. McRae Sr. (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Franklin Foster McRae Sr., 58, of Brooklyn, formerly of Wagram, N.C., died Sunday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in McGill Cemetery in Wagram by the Rev. H.E. Edwards.

Mr. McRae is survived by his wife, Callie R. McRae of Laurinburg, N.C.; three daughters, Gloria Moore of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jacqueline McArthur of Austin, Texas, and Sheila Patterson of Laurinburg; a son, Franklin F. McRae Jr. of Laurel Hill, N.C.; his parents, Luther and Hattie McRae of Brooklyn; six sisters, Ella James of Rosedale, Bettie McRae of Bronx, Annie Mitchell of Maxton, N.C., Mary McRae of New York, and Edwinwa Murphy and Concencia Gorman, both of Brooklyn; and 11 grandchildren.

The public will be received Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home in Laurinburg.

Mrs. Inez C. Bloodworth (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

Mrs. Inez Culbreth Bloodworth, 82, of 1460 Habersham Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Greensboro.

Arrangements will be announced by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Estella Council of 2185 Nevada St. died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Ms. Jean M. Hedges (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

Ms. Jean Marie Hedges, 39, of 1112 Windmill Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home in Warren, Ohio. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Ms. Hedges is survived by a daughter, Raegan M. Hedges of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a son, Derek L. Hedges of Fayetteville; her mother, Lois A. Griffith of Niles, Ohio; her stepmother, Rosalie Davies of Leavittsburg, Ohio; two brothers, Griffith W. Griffith of Niles and Michael L. Davies of Warren; and five sisters, Jeanette Grimm of Howland Twp., Laura Vaughn and Kim L. Davies, both of Niles, Nancy Czako of Cortland, Ohio, and Christina Davies of Warren.

Mrs. Sadie I. Faircloth (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Sadie I. Faircloth, 91, of 1717 Indian Town Road died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Holly Grove Holiness Church by the Revs. Randy Simmons, W.L. Ammons and Jerry Groves. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Faircloth is survived by a daughter, Sudie M. Simmons of Clinton; a son, Jerry L. Faircloth of Clinton; a sister, Occardelia Bryant of Fayetteville; a brother, Preston Faircloth of Clinton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the church.

Rev. Henry Johnston (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

The Rev. Henry Johnston, former rector at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Hope Mills Retirement Center. He was 94.

Mr. Johnston retired from Holy Trinity in 1970, where he had served since 1956. He led two major building programs in the growth of the Fayetteville church.

He served earlier at churches in Oxford, Charlotte and Raleigh in North Carolina, and in Alabama and Virginia. Before entering the ministry, he was the assistant dean of men at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Johnston was a member of the executive council of the Episcopal dioceses of North Carolina and East Carolina; chairman of the Department of Christian Education; a member of the Board of Managers for Thompson Children’s Home; examining chaplain of the diocese of East Carolina; a trustee at St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh; and a member of the Department of Evangelism, diocese of East Carolina.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Parish Churchyard in Tarboro. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnston is survived by a daughter, Betsy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thompson Children’s Home, Charlotte, N.C., or to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Jessie P. Warren (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

DUNN -- Mrs. Jessie Pearl Warren, 83, of Dunn died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Mrs. Warren was employed for many years at Howard Johnson’s Restaurant, and was secretary for Elton Warren, Inc.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Long Branch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Elton Butts. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband, W. Elton Warren; two daughters, Nancy W. Hawley of Dunn and Barbara Bass of Newton Grove; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Skinner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Emilie M. Redmon (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

Mrs. Emilie M. Redmon, 73, of 325 N. Cool Springs St., Fayetteville, died Tuesday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Hay Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carl Frazier. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Redmon is survived by her husband, John K. Redmon of the home; four sons, John R. Redmon of West Orange, N.J., Carl K. Monroe of Germansville, Pa., Alan L. Redmon of Scranton, Pa., and David L. Cureton of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Carol A. Northup of Torrance, Calif., and Catherine Stropnicky of Danville, Pa.; a sister, Mable L. Erbacher of Bloomfield, N.J.; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hay Street United Methodist Church, 320 Hay St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301, or to Hospice of Cumberland County, 711 Executive Place, Fayetteville, N.C. 28305, or to a favorite charity.

Jonathan Leak (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Jonathan Leak, 52, of Columbus, formerly of Lumberton, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Lumberton by the Rev. E.B. Turner. Burial will be in Elizabeth Heights Cemetery in Lumberton.

Mr. Leak is survived by his mother, Caroline Leak of Lumberton; a brother, James G. Leak of Columbus; and two sisters, Barbara Clark of Columbus and Elizabeth Banks of Fayetteville, N.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Caroline Leak, 110 Earl St., Lumberton.

Samuel E. Conners (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Samuel Eugene Conners, 47, of 7650 Glenbrook Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

He retired after 22 years from the Army, serving in the Vietnam War and receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Rogers & Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. James Chung and Chaplain Blue. Burial with full military honors will be in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Conners is survived by his wife, Il Son Conners of the home; and two daughters, Kum H. Conners and Mun C. Conners, both of the home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

James Locklear (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

MAXTON -- James Locklear, 59, of 1228 Jacobs Road died Wednesday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Locklear & Son Funeral Home of Pembroke.

James C. Smith (dated Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997)

James C. Smith of 617 York Road, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

Rufus C. McMillan (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

CLARKTON -- Rufus C. McMillan, 84, of 73 McMillan Drive died Monday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Ford. Burial will be in Clarkton Community Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Wanda W. Liggett (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

VASS -- Mrs. Wanda Marie Walker Liggett, 63, of 119 Creek Bend Drive died Thursday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 7318 in Southern Pines and the Ladies Auxilliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9103 in Spring Lake.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.

Mrs. Liggett is survived by her husband, George A. Liggett of the home; a daughter, Gwen McDaniel of New Bern; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Curtis Burns (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

SANFORD -- Curtis Burns, 72, of 1901 Woodland Ave. died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

J.D. Council (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

ROSEBORO -- J.D. Council, 74, of 5710 Roseboro Highway died Monday in Harnett Manor Nursing Center in Lillington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Snow Hill Missionary Church by the Rev. William Peterson. Burial will be in Roseboro Cemetery.

Mr. Council is survived by a son, J.D. Council Jr. of Newburg, N.Y.; a stepson, Calvin Gandy of Clinton; and a brother, Henry Council of Goldsboro.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home in Clinton.

Frank J. Nelson (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

CLINTON -- Frank Jamal Nelson, 21, of 168 Ruby Lane died Wednesday.

William G. Morris (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class William Gordon Morris, 69, of 924 McKimmon Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired after 21 years of service.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Capt. Rolando Rosado. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Mr. Morris is survived by a stepson, Eugene Gainey of Seminole, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Gladys McRae of Columbus, Ga.; and two brothers, Jesse Morris of Louisville, Ky., and Floyd Morris of Elizabethtown, Ky.

Mrs. Pauline N. Sealey (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

PARKTON -- Mrs. Pauline Nunnery Sealey, 86, of Route 1, Box 79, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Green Springs Baptist Church by the Revs. Raymond Wade and Larry Blount. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Sealey is survived by three daughters, Faye S. Parrish of Stedman, Carolyn S. Sealey of Fayetteville and Ruth S. Barnes of Hope Mills; three sons, James W. Sealey of Garner, and Mitchell Sealey and Douglas Sealey, both of Parkton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Frances W. Love (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Frances Willcox Love, 69, of 140 Surry Circle North died Thursday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Powell Funeral Home chapel in Southern Pines by the Rev. Hazel Fitch.

Mrs. Love is survived by her husband, James W. Love; a son, James W. Love of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Lynn L. Palamer of Broken Arrow, Okla.; her mother, Eva S. Willcox of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, George Willcox of Wilmington and Palmer Willcox of Raeford; a sister, Katherine MacRae of Southern Pines; a half sister, Clara Harper of Southern Pines; and two grandchildren.

Johnnie Munnalley (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Johnnie Munnalley, 78, of 16928 Jessica Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. John Holiness Church by the Rev. Roy L. Jackson. Burial will be in Stewartsville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Munnalley is survived by his wife, Laura R. Munnalley of the home; a daughter, Edna Wall of Laurinburg; a son, Willie L. Brown of Laurinburg; three sisters, Johnsie Johnson of Laurinburg, Lena Pankey of Winston-Salem and Jannie Hooper of Baltimore; three brothers, Mack Monley and James Monley, both of Laurinburg, and Clarence Monley of Durham; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Inez Bloodworth (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)

Mrs. Inez Bloodworth, 82, of Fayetteville died Tuesday in Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.

Mrs. Bloodworth was a member of First Baptist Church and was a registered nurse for 30 years. She worked as head nurse at Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital, and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Glen Holt. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bloodworth is survived by a son, Thomas A. Millar of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Lois M. Quate of Greensboro; a brother, William C. Culbreth of Stedman; two sisters, Joy Morrison and Beverly Crawley, both of Greensboro; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Anderson and Old Streets, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
