WAGRAM -- Mrs. Pearl Gilchrist, 90, of Old Wire Road died Monday in Edwin Morgan Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Mrs. Maggie D. Johnson (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

HAMLET -- Mrs. Maggie Downer Johnson, 87, of 225 Fifth St. died Saturday in Palmer Hinson Care Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.H. Gatewood. Burial will be in Dobbins Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by John Charles McNeill Funerals of Rockingham.

Mrs. Inez B. Sturgis (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

HAMLET -- Mrs. Inez Bright Sturgis, 78, of 170 Fifth St. died Friday in Palmer Hinson Care Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. W.O. McCullough. Burial will be in Dobbins Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Sturgis is survived by a daughter, Peggy Savannah of Hamlet; two sons, Bobby Bright Jr. and Manuel L. Bright; a brother, Jackie Bright; a sister, Fannie Johnson of Portsmouth, Va.; and several grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at John Charles McNeill Funerals.

Ollin ‘Don’ Hinnant (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

Ollin Donald “Don” Hinnant, 70, of 2410 Elmhurst Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday.

Mr. Hinnant was a sales executive for the Fayetteville Observer-Times for 26 years. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and the John M. Wilson Bible Sunday school class. Mr. Hinnant was past president of the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club, a member and past president of the North Carolina Jaycees and a member of the Fayetteville Moose Lodge.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Ernest Johnson and Leighton McKeithen. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hinnant is survived by his wife, Betty B. Hinnant of the home; two sisters, Wanda Pridgen of Louisburg and Shirley Durbin of Smyrna, Ga.; and a brother, Rudolph G. Hinnant of Phoenix.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cora B. Fletcher (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

EAST LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Cora Beatrice Fletcher, 75, of 16600 Andrew Jackson Highway died Sunday in her home.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in East Laurinburg Church of God by the Revs. R.P. Fields and Jeff McGirt. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by three sons, Norman B. Amundson of Greenville, S.C., Madison B. Cheek of Gibson and Gwen A. Cheek of Warsaw; a daughter, Rita B. Cheek of Reading, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service in Laurinburg.

Dallas B. Johnson (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

ERWIN -- Dallas Benton Johnson, 81, of 407 E. J St. died Monday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

He retired from Burlington Industries.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Erwin Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Bob McCully and Currie Parker. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Eva H. Johnson of the home; two sons, Glenn Johnson of Erwin and Phil Johnson of Eastover; a brother, Clayton Johnson of Coats; two sisters, Rotha McLamb of Chesapeake, Va., and Juanita Strickland of Portsmouth, Va.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Carol P. Parker (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

BENSON -- Mrs. Carol Pollock Parker, 82, of 300 S. Pine St. died Sunday in her home.

She was a schoolteacher for 38 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Benson United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Benson. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.

Mrs. Parker is survived by a son, Donald A. Parker of Benson; a daughter, Elaine P. Murray of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Benson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Benson, N.C. 27504, or to Johnston Memorial Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, N.C. 27577.

Mrs. Eva M. Eason (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Eva Mae Eason, 74, of 1473 Tom Sessions Road died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

She was a lifelong member of White Marsh Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in White Marsh Baptist Church by the Revs. Jim Roper and Leon Lancaster. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.

Mrs. Eason is survived by four sons, Cecil Eason, Sammy Eason and Leroy D. Eason, all of Whiteville, and Larry Eason of Bladenboro; two brothers, Albert Creech of Ogden and Alton Creech of Whiteville; two sisters, Lois Baldwin of Whiteville and Edell Nobles of Rocky Mount; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines.

Memorials may be made to White Marsh Baptist Church, 348 Whitehall Road, Whiteville, N.C. 28472, or to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Annie L. Hargett (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

Mrs. Annie Louise Hargett, 65, of 1511 Scallywag Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fayetteville Assembly of God by the Rev. John Maracle. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in St. Pauls.

Mrs. Hargett is survived by five daughters, Evelyn Tyndall of Fayetteville, Liesa Accordino of Clinton, Christine Pope of Salemburg, Gayle Walters of Parkton and Wanda Barbour of Greensboro; a son, Robert Hargett of Salisbury; two sisters, Jean Wagner of Fayetteville and Dottie F. Owens of Raeford; a brother, William Owens of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Mrs. Sarah S. Geddie (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

Mrs. Sarah Spears Geddie, 76, of 2731 Millbrook Road, Fayetteville, died Monday.

She was a member of Haymount United Methodist Church and retired from Belk after 40 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Haymount United Methodist Church by the Rev. Linwood Blackburn. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Geddie is survived by a daughter, Melissa G. Tindell of Fayetteville; a brother, James “Sunny” Spears of Fayetteville; two sisters, Lillian Darby of Fayetteville and Mary Wittmer of Raleigh; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Alice B. Seals (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Alice Bell Seals, 93, of 525 Bailey Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Second Baptist Church by the Rev. William Scott. Burial will be in Stoney Point Baptist Church cemetery in Hope Mills.

Mrs. Seals is survived by a daughter, Clara Watson of St. Pauls; five sons, Lacy Lindsey of Gainesville, Fla., John D. Seals of Fort Smith, Ark., Daniel Seals of Lumber Bridge, Billy Seals of Bladenboro and Leroy Seals of Red Springs; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McNeill Funeral Home and at other times at 412 Townsend St., St. Pauls.

Mrs. Odelia A. Kingwood (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Odelia A. Kingwood, 79, of Rose Court died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Central Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Elizabeth Heights Cemetery.

Mrs. Kingwood is survived by a son, Lacy Andrews of New York; and three grandchildren.

The public will be received Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Averice F. Hall (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

STEDMAN -- Mrs. Averice May Flowers Hall, 82, of Stedman died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was a retired beautician.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Autryville Cemetery by the Rev. Phillip Spears.

Mrs. Hall is survived by a son, Lennon Hall of Stedman; a daughter, Linda Muelver of Stedman; a brother, Joe Flowers of Wilmington; a sister, Mary L. Fladd of Wilmington; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.

H. Weston Gardner (dated Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997)

ROSEBORO -- H. Weston Gardner, 65, of Route 3, Box 120, died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Peter’s Creek Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert Owen and Tommy Honeycutt. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife, Frances E. Gardner; three daughters, Jerry J. Melo of Raleigh, Oleta F. Dukic of Roseboro and Ann M. Starling of Stedman; two brothers, Lawrence Gardner of Roseboro and David Gardner of Lakeland, Fla.; three half sisters, Edna Melvin and Betty S. Smith, both of Roseboro, and Joyce Shirley of Autryville; two half brothers, Tommy Gardner and Harold Gardner, both of Roseboro; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.
