John Kenneth Sheek III, 10, of Route 2, Box 553-C, Fayetteville, died Monday.
He was a student at VanStory Hills Elementary School.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rogers & Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. William Beasley. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
John is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John K. Sheek Jr. of Fayetteville; a brother, Ronnie Parrish of Fayetteville; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Parrish of Fayetteville; and his paternal grandfather, John K. Sheek of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Helen G. Nobles (dated Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997)
CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Helen Gertrude Nobles, 91, of 3471 Old Stake Road died Tuesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in China Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Steven Nobles and Sidney Britt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Nobles is survived by a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home.
Mrs. Irene H. Taylor (dated Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997)
CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Irene Hayes Taylor, 84, of Chadbourn died Tuesday in Shoreland Health Care in Whiteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Chadbourn Church of God by the Revs. Robert Jackson and John Wyatt. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Worthington Funeral Home.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by two daughters, Ruth T. Newman of Leesburg, Fla., and Lee T. Meares of Cerro Gordo; two sons, Elery Taylor of New Bern and Roger Taylor of Charlotte; two sisters, Carrie Herring of Dillon, S.C., and Morty Cox of New Bern; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Retired Army Col. Alvin Kenneth Charles, 81, of Fayetteville died Wednesday in his home.

Mrs. Juanita Davidson Phillips, 79, of Fayetteville died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Loreen H. Grubbs (dated Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997)
LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Loreen Hicks Grubbs, 84, of Laurinburg died Tuesday.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hillside Cemetery. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Lawrence B. Coleman. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grubbs is survived by four daughters, Dixon McGuire of Charlotte, Ann Allgood of Greensboro, Mary Grubenman of Triangle, Va., and Laura Kester of Concord; two sons, John Grubbs and Robbie Grubbs, both of Laurinburg; a sister, Leetrice Faulk of Hasty; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive after the service at the church.

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Lady Bell McNatt McNair, 94, of 2261 Watts Dairy Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in McMillan Funeral Home chapel in Lumberton by the Rev. Fred King. Burial will be in McKinnon Cemetery.
Mrs. McNair is survived by two daughters, Anita Jackson of Fayetteville and Mary A. McMillan of St. Pauls; two sons, William Hughes of Fayetteville and John Ross of St. Pauls; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

BENSON -- Thomas Jacob Parrish, 57, of 582 S. Pleasant-Coates Road died Tuesday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
He was employed by Guilford Mills in Fuquay-Varina and attended Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church by Elders James S. Denning, Thomas Whitley and Robert Peeden. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife, Janice D. Parrish; a son, Thomas R. Parrish of Willow Spring; a daughter, Kimberly P. Cole of Angier; two brothers, the Rev. R.B. Parrish Jr. of Benson and Johnny D. Parrish of Dunn; two sisters, Ruthalae P. Ryals of Angier and Nadine P. Langdon of Benson; and four grandchildren.

Reide ‘Jack’ Stancil (dated Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997)
SOUTHERN PINES -- Reide Jackson “Jack” Stancil, 66, of 380 N. Leak St. died Wednesday in his home.
He was a retired mechanic and a veteran of the Korean War.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Powell Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. John D. Stone.
Mr. Stancil is survived by two sons, Reid Stancil of Yadkinville and Scott Stancil of Southern Pines; his mother, Lula C. Stancil of Southern Pines; and one grandson.
