FAIRMONT -- Frank Edward “Ed” Lewis, 91, of 897 Tobacco Road died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lewis family cemetery by the Revs. Mark Gaskins and Thomas Rich.
Mr. Lewis is survived by a son, Ed Lewis Jr. of Lumberton; four daughters, Ann Leggett, Linda L. Britt, Edna L. Davis and Mary K. Freeman, all of Fairmont; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Fairmont Funeral Services and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, South Main Street, Fairmont, N.C. 28340.
Mrs. Lula P. Alford (dated Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997)
Mrs. Lula P. Alford, 78, of 492 Slocumb Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Cape Fear A Conference Headquarters Facility in Erwin by Bishop David W. Elliott. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.
Mrs. Alford is survived by her husband, Elder Charlie Alford of the home; and two sisters, Nettie J. Price and Bessie P. McNeill, both of Erwin.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.
Mrs. Reather D. Rumph (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
WHITE OAK -- Mrs. Reather Diane Rumph, 54, of 8082 N.C. 53 W. died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Richardson Chapel Holiness Church by Evangelist Mable Yarboro. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Rumph is survived by a daughter, Chinitha R. Corbett of Garland; two sisters, Patricia R. Burns of White Oak and Janice R. Council of McDough, Ga.; three brothers, Gene Richardson of Washington, D.C., Aranda L. Richardson of San Diego and Reginald Richardson of White Oak; and two grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland.

Bret G. Davis, 78, of 7216 Shady Grove Lane, Fayetteville, died Thursday.

Mrs. Ethel Vann (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
WILLARD -- Mrs. Ethel Vann, 85, of 1530 Buckhorn Road died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roseville Baptist Church by the Rev. Isaac Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Vann is survived by two daughters, Willie J. Carr and Mary R. Hayes, both of Willard; four sons, Ernest Vann and David T. Vann, both of the home, Penny L. Vann of Magnolia and Raymond L. Vann of Harrells; three sisters, Eunice Murrell and Virginia Beatty, both of Harrells, and Hazel Robinson of Willard; two brothers, William P. Newkirk and Jerry Newkirk, both of Willard; 39 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland.
Winnie Draughon (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
WARSAW -- Winnie Draughon, 73, of Warsaw, formerly of Salemburg, died Thursday in Countryside Villa Nursing Home.

Mrs. Billie R. Gainey (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Billie Ryals Gainey, 63, of Lillington died Thursday.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gainey is survived by her husband, Cammie Gainey of the home; a son, Cammie E. Gainey of Texas; three daughters, Connie L. Freeman of Arizona, and Angela C. Lynn and Gale H. Fiasco, both of Texas; two sisters, Dorothy R. Gregory of Lillington and Mattie B. Ryals of Sanford; a brother, Luther G. “Pete” Ryals of Sanford; nine grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great-grandson.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Dot Gregory, 808 Front St., Lillington.

Mrs. Ethonia L. Covington (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Ethonia Lill Covington, 67, of 132 Philadelphia Drive died Monday in Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Philadelphia United Methodist Church by the Rev. R.G. Singletary Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Covington is survived by 12 sons, Bobby Covington, Walter Covington Jr., John T. Covington, Henry Covington, Neil Covington, Robert E. Covington, Donald Covington, Terry Covington, Jasper Covington, Derious Covington, Herman L. Covington and Ivan S. Covington, all of Rockingham; eight sisters, Doris Lillie, Mary Covington, Aretha Covington and Edna Bostick, all of Rockingham, Thelma Dennison of Hamlet, Sallie Jackson of Baltimore, Jennie Reynolds and Annie Ralph, both of Stamford, Conn.; 47 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Irene McNeill (dated Friday, Dec. 26, 1997)
RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Irene McNeill, 89, of 100 N. College St. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
She was a member of Red Springs Presbyterian Church and was owner and operator of McNeill’s Boarding House.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Crumpler Funeral Home chapel in Red Springs by the Rev. Ken Goodrich. Burial will be in Centre Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mrs. McNeill is survived by a son, John M. McNeill of Red Springs; a daughter, Betty M. Fahed of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Lucas Sparrow and Ellie Sparrow, both of Hartsville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
