CLINTON -- Cary M. Speller, 82, of 921 Southwest Blvd., died Friday in Guardian Care nursing Center in Kenansville.

Arrangements will be announced by Brock Memorial and Worley Funeral Home of Clinton.

Robert W. Strickland Jr. (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

ERWIN -- Robert Wayne Strickland Jr., 38, of 306 West B St. died Thursday.

He was a former truck driver for Wellon’s Construction Company of Dunn.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Erwin Church of God by the Revs. Currie Parker, Agnes Douglas and Jerome Pope.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his father, Bobby W. Strickland of the home; his stepfather and mother, Evette and Sue L. Warren of Dunn; a daughter, Julia Strickland of Rickman, Tenn.; a sister, Kelly S. Carter of Plainview; and his maternal grandmother, Florence Lucas of Falcon.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mrs. Sarah M. Jackson (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Sarah Gilmore Musselwhite Jackson, 82, of Laurinburg died Friday in Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in McDougald Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Howard Harding. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Freddy Musselwhite of Clio, S.C.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lois P. Gordon (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Lois Martin Prevatte Gordon, 70, of 702 W. 28th St., died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and director of the preschool Sunday school department.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Meadowbrook Cemetery by the Revs. William P. Tuck and Joe Bounds. Arrangements are being handled by Biggs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gordon is survived by her husband, Paul L. Gordon of the home; a son, William S. Gordon of Lenoir; a daughter, Jacquelyne L. Gordon of Raleigh; and two sisters, Bertha Cottingham and Marjorie Prevatte, both of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 136-A Bow St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301; or to the Preschool Sunday School Department, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 938, Lumberton, N.C.

Ms. Maggie R. Carter (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

STEDMAN -- Ms. Maggie Ruth Carter, 73, of Route 1, died Wednesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday in Locks Creek AME Zion Church by the Rev. B.C. Young Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Carter is survived by a daughter, Ardrienne Cogdell of Fayetteville; five sons, Dale Fisher of Chicago, Daughn Fisher of Fayetteville, and Darryl Fisher, Dana Fisher and Kerry Fisher, all of Raleigh; a brother, Arthur L. Carter of Stedman; and eight grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tucker & Sons Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at 2344 Lake Ave., Fayetteville.

Mrs. Ronnie H. Bordeaux (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mrs. Ronnie Maude Holland Bordeaux, 87, of Elizabethtown died Friday in Bladen County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kinlaw Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jeff Brown. Burial will be in Windsor Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Bordeaux is survived by a son, Franklin Bordeaux of Elizabethtown; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Benjamin J. Reichert (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

Retired Army 1st Sgt. Benjamin John Reichert, 69, of 1865 Ashton Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Robert L. Pelczynski (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

Robert Lee Pelczynski, 48, of 208 Old Gate Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

He was a member of Campground United Methodist Church and the Fayetteville Board of Realtors.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Campground United Methodist Church by the Revs. George Jones and Tom Holtzclaw. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Pelczynski is survived by his wife, Mary D. Pelczynski of the home; a son, Danny E. Davis of Fayetteville; a daughter, Tonya D. Smith of Fayetteville; three brothers, Paul Pelczynski, Steve Pelczynski and Pat Pelczynski, all of Wisconsin; five sisters, Marg Lisiecki, Nan Pelczynski, Debbie Pelczynski, Suzette Pelczynski and Mary Pelczynski, all of Wisconsin; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robert Lee Pelczynski Memorial Fund, care of Campground United Methodist Church, 4625 Campground Road, Fayetteville, N.C.

Henry W. Witcover (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

Retired Army Col. Henry Wallace Witcover, 80, of Fayetteville died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Witcover was a veteran of World War II and served 31 years. He was staff judge advocate of the 82nd and the 18th Airborne Corp and was a lawyer in private practice for 19 years.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Highland Presbyterian Church chapel by the Rev. Leighton McKeithen. Burial with full military honors will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mr. Witcover is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. Witcover of the home; two daughters, Christine W. Dean of Apex and Carolyn W. Witcover of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Henry King (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

ST. PAULS -- Henry King, 84, of St. Pauls died Tuesday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Second New Light Baptist Church by the Rev. Jesse Gibson. Burial will be the Burns family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by L.E. Floyd Funeral Home.

Mr. King is survived by nine sons, Nathaniel King, Harry King, Willie L. King, Henry King Jr., Thurman A. King and Charles King, all of Washington, D.C., Fred D. King of Kokomo, Ind., Thomas King of Parkton and Anthony King of St. Pauls; four daughters, Sadie M. Sanders and Linda F. Cunningham, both of Washington and Patricia Purdie and Sharon McComtic, both of St. Pauls.

Mrs. Gracie L. Liles (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Gracie Lee Bell Locklear Liles, 64, of Route 10, died Thursday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Olive Baptist Church by the Revs. Kelly Sanderson, Charles Locklear and David Lowery Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Liles is survived by three sons, Donald D. Locklear of Matthews, Billy Locklear Jr. of Maxton and Carlis Locklear of Shannon; two daughters, Marilyn R. Crouch of Reston, Va., and Gloria Chavis of Lumberton; three brothers, Willie Bell and Stacy Bell, both of Lumberton, and Booth Bell of Pembroke; a sister, Lelia Chavis of Red Springs; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Luther ‘L.T.’ Britt (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Luther Thomas “L.T.” Britt, 73, of Lumberton, formerly of Maxton, died Friday in Carrolton Nursing Home.

He was retired from the textile industry.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.

Mr. Britt is survived by a sister, Estelle Bell of Pembroke.

Mrs. Eunice M. Roberson (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

DUNN -- Mrs. Eunice M. Roberson, 72, of Dunn died Tuesday in Wake County Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in Mingo Hill Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Antonio Chrisp. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roberson is survived by a daughter, Emma J. Brown of Raleigh; a sister, Cathleen McDowell of Fayetteville; and several grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Myrtle Holliday (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

DUNN -- Mrs. Myrtle Holliday, 86, of Dunn died Sunday in Highland House Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pisgah Original Free Will Baptist Church in Erwin by Bishop Reginald Hinton. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Holliday is survived by two daughters, Mattie McKeithan of Fayetteville and Maggie Evans of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; two sons, James P. Miller Jr. of New York City and Gene Miller of Dunn; two sisters, Vera Gilbert and Christy Evans, both of Coats; 28 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Miller, 309 N. Layton Ave., Dunn.

Miss Winnie Draughon (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

WARSAW -- Miss Winnie Draughon, 73, of Warsaw, formerly of Salemburg, died Thursday in Countryside Villa Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mingle Hill Disciple Church in Salemburg by Elder Felix McDonald. Burial will be in the Draughon family cemetery.

Miss Draughon is survived by four sisters, Rena D. Newman and Eula D. Jones, both of Clinton, and Hattie D. Brown and Ella D. Bennett, both of Long Island City, N.Y.; and two brothers, Esmond Draughon of Roseboro and Everette Draughon of Clinton.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everette Draughon, 4747 Boykin Bridge Road, Clinton.

Earl Locklear (dated Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997)

RED SPRINGS -- Earl Locklear of Red Springs died Friday in Johnson Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Arrangements will be announced by Crumpler Funeral Home of Red Springs.
