Donald R. McMillan (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Donald Ray McMillan, 40, of 327 Quail Run Road died Friday.

He worked at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and was a member of Cromartie Temple First Born Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Cromartie Temple First Born Church by Minister Syvalla Washington.

Mr. McMillan is survived by his parents, Alexander and Northan McMillan; three brothers, Alexander McMillan Jr. of Raleigh, and Jerry McMillan and Ricky McMillan, both of the home; a sister, Cindy McMillan of Lumberton; two half sisters, Patricia McMillan and Jill McMillan; and a half brother, Jimmy McMillan.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Central Funeral Home chapel and at other times at the home.

Ms. Marion McCullough (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

PINEHURST -- Ms. Marion Miller McCullough, 83, of Pinehurst died Saturday in Manor Care Health Services.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday in Wilmington, Del.

Ms. McCullough is survived by a son, John F. McCullough of Philadelphia; two daughters, Marion A. McCullough of Cameron and Denis C. McCullough of Southern Pines; and a sister, Frances M. Austin of Pinehurst. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home of Southern Pines.

Memorials may be made to The Arts Council of Moore County, Campbell House, Southern Pines, N.C. 28387 or to The Prancing Horse Center of Therapeutic Horseback Riding, 448 Horse & Carriage Lane, Cameron, N.C. 28326.

James E. McKoy (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

KELLY -- James Ely McKoy, 78, of 529 McKoy Road died Thursday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Arrangements will be announced by Carter Funeral Home of Garland.

Raymond Heath (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

BISCOE -- Raymond Hudson Heath, 77, of Aileen Street died Friday in Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.

He was a member of Page Memorial United Methodist Church and Biscoe Lodge No. 437 AF & AM and was retired from the N.C. Department of Human Resources in Samarkand Manor.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Page Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Beck. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Candor Town Cemetery in Candor. Arrangements are being handled by Briggs-Candor Funeral Home of Candor.

Mr. Heath is survived by his wife, Jewel Heath of the home; a son, Raymond H. Heath Jr. of Huntersville; a brother, Ernest Heath of Jackson Springs; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 3 p.m. at Page Memorial United Methodist Church educational building.

Samuel W. ‘Dub’ Clewis (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

LONG BEACH -- Samuel Walter “Dub” Clewis, 71, of Long Beach, formerly of Columbus County died Friday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

He formerly owned and operated Brunswick Motor Sales, a Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge dealership, in Southport.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines in Whiteville by the Rev. J.P. Jones. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.

Mr. Clewis is survived by two sons, Buck Clewis of Lake Waccamaw and Earl Clewis of Southport; three brothers, Edward Clewis of Chadbourn, Archie N. Clewis of Greensboro and Ken Clewis of Wilmington; two sisters, Myrtle C. Cartrette and Helen Turbeville, both of Chadbourn; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Marshy H. Adkins (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Marshy Rosetta Bass Hood Adkins, 76, of Roseboro died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Butler Funeral Home by the Rev. Terry Heath. Burial will be in Selah Christian Church cemetery in Mount Olive.

Mrs. Adkins is survived by a son, Carroll Hood of Mount Olive; a daughter, Joyce H. Landes of Clinton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Carl and Joyce Landes, 1000 Bass Drive, Clinton.

Michael E. Hill (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

Michael E. Hill, 21, of Pleasant Oak Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday.

Arrangements will be announced by Paye Funeral Home.

Thomas Smith Jr. (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

RAEFORD -- Thomas Smith Jr., 48, of Route 2, Box 520 died Dec. 21 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. L. Alford. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Rockfish. Arrangements are being handled by Doby Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith is survived by a sister, Brenda Smith of Raeford.

Ms. Marjorie VanBoskerck (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

PINEBLUFF -- Ms. Marjorie McQueen VanBoskerck, 83, of 260 E. New England Ave. died Saturday in Pinehurst Nursing Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Ives Memorial Baptist Church by the Revs. Donald Ballenger and Bill Whitt. Burial will be in Pinebluff Cemetery.

Ms. VanBoskerck is survived by a son, James VanBoskerck of Pinebluff; a daughter, Joan Webb of San Antonio; five brothers, J.C. McQueen Jr. of Rockingham, Baxter McQueen of Derby, Richard McQueen of Charleston, S.C., Thomas McQueen of Norman and Earl McQueen of Apex; seven sisters, Virginia Austin of Rockingham; June Jamison of Osborne, Mich., Phyllis Green of Derby, Evelyn Burgess of Huntersville, Ruth Self of Harmony, Faye Davis of Locust and Louise Bissett of Raleigh; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines and at other times at 310 N. Currant St., Pinebluff.

Miss Wilma R. Moore (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

Miss Wilma R. Moore, 71, of Fayetteville died Dec. 21 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

She was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Burial has been held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Whittier, Calif. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snyder Memorial Baptist Church or to Archangel Michael Antiochene Maronite Catholic Church.

Mrs. Mamie E. Stewart (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

Mrs. Mamie Estes Stewart, 92, of 6530 People St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Berean Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Steven Byrd. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, W.Va. Arrangements in Virginia are being handled by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Riner of Fayetteville; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9:30 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Berean Baptist Church, 517 Glensford Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28314.

Nick Locklear (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

MAXTON -- Nick Locklear, 73, of Route 1 died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in Mt. Hebron Holiness Church by the Revs. David Hunt, Crafton Chavis and Gene Chavis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Locklear & Son Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Mr. Locklear is survived by two sons, Chris Locklear of Maxton and Timothy Locklear of Columbia, S.C.; three daughters, Marilyn Locklear-Hunt and Shirley Viamaona, both of Lumberton, and Deloris Bell of Pembroke; three brothers, Iron Brayboy Jr. of San Diego, Joe K. Brayboy of Laurinburg and William T. Brayboy of Maxton; six sisters, Ruth Ramona of Pembroke, Allie M. Haggans of Maxton, Mary Munger of Laurinburg, Delphie Dial of Dillon, S.C., Alice Hunt of Tabor City, and Ruey Oxendine of Pembroke; and 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Etta G. Humphrey (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Etta G. Humphrey, 88, of St. Pauls, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by McKoy & Sons Mortuary.

John C. Adams (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

WADE -- John C. Adams, 70, of Wade, died Friday in Norwalk, Conn.

Arrangements will be announced by Tucker & Sons Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Dewey E. Byrd (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

HOPE MILLS -- Dewey Edward Byrd, 63, of Monticello Avenue died Friday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Gary Leviner. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Byrd is survived by two daughters, Jennelle Denton of Clayton and Brenda Gray of Hope Mills; two brothers, Lester E. Byrd of Sunset Harbor and Charlie E. Byrd Jr. of Fayetteville; a sister, Boncil Hulon of Dillon, S.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Brenda and Jimmy Gray, 4829 Jefferson St., Hope Mills.

Mrs. Matilda Bynes, 60, of 6527 People St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in her home.

Lenora Sanders (dated Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997)

Mrs. Lenora Sanders, 72, of 302 Mike St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
