Mrs. Jacqueline Wiggins (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

Mrs. Jacqueline Britt Wiggins, 73, of 1911 Cowan St., Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Carrolton of Fayetteville nursing home.

She was a lifelong member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Carroll Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Edwards. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wiggins is survived by a daughter, Susan W. Faircloth of Hope Mills; a son, Larry R. “Bobby” Wiggins of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Carroll Memorial Baptist Church, 2210 Henry St., Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Louise D. DeBerry (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Louise Darlene DeBerry, 74, of 115 Road Runner Drive died Monday in Richmond Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Charles McNeill Funerals.

James W. Tickle (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- James Worth Tickle, 70, of Elizabethtown died Tuesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Oak Grove Church cemetery by the Rev. Ronnie Cox.

Mr. Tickle is survived by two sons, Mitchell Tickle of Clarkton and Don K. Tickle of Elizabethtown; a sister, Alice Nance of Lumberton; a brother, Leroy Tickle of Kannapolis; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home.

Ms. Merle L. Kennedy (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

ROBBINS -- Ms. Merle Lineberry Kennedy, 86, of 296 Northcutt Road died Monday in Autumn Care of Biscoe nursing home.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smyrna United Methodist Church by the Revs. Leonard Moore, Arnold Comer and Terry Beaver. Burial will be in Acorn Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.

Ms. Kennedy is survived by a son, Robert Kennedy of the home; two sisters, Cora Hussey and Flora Lineberry, both of Robbins; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

H. Larry Matthews (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

KIPLING -- H. Larry Matthews, 46, of Kipling died Monday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jeff Jones. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Donna H. Matthews of the home; two daughters, April L. Stancil of Benson and Brandy N. Matthews of the home; a son, Bennie J. Matthews of the home; three brothers, William Matthews and Frankie Matthews, both of Lillington, and Bennie Matthews of Dunn; three sisters, Nancy Hughes of Coats, Lurene Benson of Lillington and Dorothy Page of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hobert R. Jackson (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

SANFORD -- Hobert Ruffin Jackson, 72, of 8804 Deep River Road died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Carolina Power and Light.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Gordon West. Burial will be in Flat Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Sarah S. Jackson; a sister, Catherine J. Stone of Moncure; and a brother, Prentice R. Jackson of Sanford.

Mrs. Attlear H. Scott (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAKE WACCAMAW -- Mrs. Attlear Hammonds Scott, 83, of Premier Living, formerly of Lumberton, died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

She was a member of New Point Baptist Church and a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Point Baptist Church by the Revs. Ronald Locklear and Sanford Locklear. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, James J. Emanuel of McDonald; two sisters, Anna B. Morgan of Lake Waccamaw and Lessie Bell of Fairmont; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton.

Mrs. Clarkie B. Locklear (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Clarkie Bell Locklear, 74, of 274 Annease Drive died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Gaskins Funeral Home in Rowland.

Mrs. Elizabeth E. Stubbs (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

SEVEN LAKES -- Mrs. Elizabeth E. Stubbs, 73, of Seven Lakes died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A private service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mrs. Stubbs is survived by her husband, Donald Stubbs of Seven Lakes; and a brother, Norman Doucette of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.

Ms. Kate B. Whitaker (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

SANFORD -- Ms. Kate Black Whitaker of 107 N. Seventh St., died Tuesday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby M. McLean (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Ruby Mae McLean, 60, of Mt. Moriah Road died Saturday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Faith Light House Apostolic Holiness Church of Rowland by the Revs. Mary B. Garden and James Garden. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery in Hamer. Arrangements are being handled by Community Funeral Home of Fairmont.

Mrs. McLean is survived by two daughters, Sharon McBride of the home and Linda Foxworth of Rowland; three sons, Willie P. McLean and Michael McLean both of Rowland and James T. McLean of the home; two sisters, Lula McCallum of Rowland and Bertha L. McLean of the home; two brothers, Moses McLean and Paul McLean, both of Lenoir; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Zebulon V. Long (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAUREL HILL -- Zebulon V. Long, 64, of 8561 Peele Chapel Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Mrs. Lela M. Campbell (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Lela Malloy Campbell, 75, of 802 Whiteville St., died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Cool Spring United Methodist Church by the Rev. George McDougald Jr. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Neal Campbell Sr. of Lumberton; a son, Neal Campbell Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Emily M. Jones and Margaret Perry, both of Laurinburg, and Grace Campbell of Raeford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home.

George J. Love (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- George J. Love, 69, of Route 9 died Tuesday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Central Funeral Home.

John R. Ingram III (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

SANFORD -- John Robert Ingram III of 2001 Shoreline Drive died Tuesday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in First Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Carl Rush and Rick Martindale. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Home.

Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife, Brenda Ingram; his mother, Margaret Ingram of Cary; two brothers, Charles Ingram and Clay Ingram, both of Sanford; and a sister, Mary W. Ellison of Macon, Ga.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at McIver Fellowship Hall.

Willie Lindsay (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Willie Lindsay of Mill Street died Monday in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C.

Arrangements will be announced by Jackson Funeral Home.

A. Winston Maxwell Sr. (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

STEDMAN -- A. Winston Maxwell Sr., 78, of Route 3, Box 247, died Monday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville by the Rev. Philip Spears.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife, Estelle W. Maxwell of the home; a daughter, Charlotte Perkins of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, Arthur W. “Butch” Maxwell Jr. and Carman A. Maxwell, both of Fayetteville; a sister, Virginia Spell of Autryville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro.

Mrs. Mary S. Carey (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

Mrs. Mary Alice Smith Carey, 84, of 827 Cedar Creek Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Hicks. Burial will be in Live Oak United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Carey is survived by two brothers, Frank Smith of White Oak and Ceavy Smith of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
