FAIRMONT -- Andy Brent Badgett, 32, of 804 Park Ave., died Tuesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Arrangements will be announced by Prevatte Funeral Home.

Hal Arnette (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

DILLON, S.C. -- Hal Arnette, 64, of Pines Nursing Home, formerly of Fairmont, died Tuesday.

He was a farmer and a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Ford family cemetery in Fairmont by the Revs. Frank Campbell and Dallas Morales.

Mr. Arnette is survived by his wife, Helen R. Arnette of the home; a son, Malcolm H. Arnette of Mooresville, N.C.; a daughter, Amy A. Jordan of Cary, N.C.; two brothers, Joe Arnette and Bill Arnette, both of Lake View, S.C.; two sisters, Mary B. Jones of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Betty A. Tobin of Florence; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont and at other times at 131 State Line Road, Fairmont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Alzheimers Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27605.

Clifton L. Turpin Sr. (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

FALCON -- The Rev. Clifton L. Turpin Sr., 66, of 305 Brooks St., died Tuesday in his home.

Rev. Turpin was a pastor, evangelist and administrative assistant for development at Emanuel College and Falcon’s Children’s Home. He was minister of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 47 years and conducted 15 tours to the Holy Land.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Culbreth Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Danny Nelson, Tim B. Henry, J. Doner Lee and T.E. Long. Burial will be in Falcon Cemetery.

Mr. Turpin is survived by his wife, Janice N. Turpin of the home; two sons, Clifton L. Turpin Jr. of Falcon and Steven G. Turpin of the home; a brother, the Rev. Harold R. Turpin of Wilson; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home in Dunn.

Memorials may be made to Culbreth Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church Youth Ministries, Royal Rangers and Missionettes, Falcon, N.C. 28342.

Mrs. Clara B. Rogers (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Clara B. Rogers, 85, of 708 E. 11th St., died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher and trustee. Mrs. Rogers was vice-president of the United Methodist Women, president of the Ministerial Alliance and founder of the Ambassador of Christ. She was a member of the United Order of Salem, the United Order of Tents andthe Lumberton Citizens Civics Committee.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Mt. Olive United Methodist Church by the Rev. W.E. Cummings. Burial will be in Elizabeth Heights Cemetery.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Ingram of the home, Janice Ratcliff of Morven and Glaceria Donnell of Greensboro; a son, Dr. William Rogers Jr. of Hampton, Va.; four sisters, Elaine Lewis of Saginaw, Mich., Earlie Edwards of Riverside, Calif., Inez Robinson of Columbia, S.C. and Viola Nance of Lake View, S.C.; two brothers, Jasper Hayes and Sanford Hayes, both of Lake View; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Maultsby and Sons Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Daniel H. Harrigan (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

Daniel H. Harrigan, 37, of Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

He was a service manager at Tire Sales and Service.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard G. Hicks. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mr. Harrigan is survived by his wife, Linda M. Harrigan; a daughter, Samantha Mazzan of the home; a brother, George Harrigan of Spring Lake; and a sister, Lynn Reeves of Spring Lake.

Mrs. Elba L. Bowie (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

Mrs. Elba L. Bowie, 71, of Fayetteville, died Sunday in Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Highland Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bowie is survived by three sons, Kenneth Bass and George Bass, both of Dunn, and Anthony Bass of Fayetteville; two daughters, Sue Hicks of Newton and Julia Gentry of Lancaster, Calif.; a sister, Qdel Dunn of Raleigh; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mrs. Katie Campbell (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

DUNN -- Mrs. Katie Campbell, 90, of Dunn died Tuesday in Rex Healthcare in Raleigh.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

James H. Lockamy (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

CLINTON -- James Houston Lockamy, 73, of 964 Beaver Dam Road died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Robbie Gilbert. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lockamy is survived by his wife, Revah S. Lockamy of the home; two sons, Houston L. Lockamy and Jimmy M. Lockamy, both of Clinton; three daughters, Brenda F. Wilson, Omie K. Cox and Jackie Daughtry, all of Clinton; his mother, Leona H. Lockamy of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Jackie and Jimmy Daughtry on Beaver Dam Road.

Ida F. Watkins (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

WASHINGTON -- Mrs. Ida Frances Watkins, 49, of Washington, formerly of Rowland, N.C., died Monday in Howard University Hospital in Washington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Mt. Pelier Presbyterian Church in Rowland by the Rev. Samuel McCormick. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jackson Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Mrs. Watkins is survived by her husband, Edward Watkins; a daughter, Chemisa Watkins of Washington; a brother, Lavon Bullard of Philadelphia; three sisters, Gladys B. Priest and Elizabeth B. Brown, both of Washington, and Thelola B. McKinnon of Greensboro; and two grandchildren.

Curtis Smith (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Curtis Smith, 79, of Laurinburg died Monday in Autumn Care Nursing Home in Raeford.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Jackson Funeral Home chapel in Laurinburg by the Rev. Doris T. Fox. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Alberta J. Nichols (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

LAUREL HILL -- Mrs. Alberta Jones Nichols, 84, of Route 2 died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cool Spring United Methodist Church by the Rev. George McDougald Jr. Burial will be in Silver Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by her husband, T.S. Nichols of Laurel Hill; four sons, Joseph McLeod of Hempstead, N.Y., James F. Jones of Starke, Fla., and Christopher Jones and Walter Jones, both of Atlanta; two daughters, Edith McEachin and Frances Smith, both of Atlanta; a sister, Louise McCall of Trenton, N.J.; a brother, Lawrence McLeod Jr., of Hempstead; and 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren.

Miss Carolyn Nelson (dated Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997)

DUNN -- Miss Carolyn Nelson, 37, of 305 McNeil Circle died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home.

Jason A. Hedgepeth (dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997)

LUMBERTON -- Jason Allen Hedgepeth, 21, of 1105 N. Elm St. died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial chapel by the Revs. Nash Odom and Phillip Hamm. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Hedgepeth is survived by his parents, James and Linda Hedgepeth of the home; a half brother, Jimmy Hedgepeth of Lumberton; and his grandmother, Eva Allen of Lumberton.

William R. Elam (dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997)

SOUTHERN PINES -- William Ray Elam, 66, of Southern Pines died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Powell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mildred T. Sexton (dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Mildred Virginia Thompson Sexton, 70, of 611 Carl Drive died Sunday in Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

She was a retired assembly line worker for Ingram Watch Company and was a member of East Laurinburg Church of God.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in East Laurinburg Church of God by the Rev. R.P. Fields. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Mrs. Sexton is survived by a son, Roger Thompson of Pembroke; two daughters, Olean Scales and Virginia Williams, both of Gibson; a brother, George Outlaw of Rockingham; a sister, Katherine Buckworth of Macon, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, care of Sue Bruce, 12441 Richardson Road, Laurinburg, N.C. 28352.

Mrs. Lorena M. Miller (dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997)

Mrs. Lorena Margaret Miller, 69, of Fayetteville died Monday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.

Mrs. Miller is survived by a son, Thomas M. Miller Sr. of Fayetteville; a daughter, Dawn Ramsey of Waldron, Ind.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Monne J. Dixon (dated Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997)

COATS -- Mrs. Monne Johnson Dixon, 88, of 203 S. Carrie St. died Sunday in Smithfield Manor nursing home in Smithfield.

She was a registered nurse for 28 years at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jesse Mooney and Elder A.D. McGee. Burial will be in Hills of the Neuse Memorial Gardens in Smithfield.

Mrs. Dixon is survived by a brother, L. Marvin Johnson of Coats.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Marvin Johnson, 603 E. Stewart St., Coats.
