Mrs. Mary Y. Martin (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

FRANKLINVILLE -- Mrs. Mary York Martin, 79, of 672 Andrew Hunter Road died Saturday in Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church of Franklinville by the Rev. Kenneth McNeill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Loflin Funeral Home of Ramseur.

Among Mrs. Martin’s survivors is a son, James H. Martin of Sanford.

Mrs. Ora M. Jones (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

STEDMAN -- Mrs. Ora Mae Jones, 89, of Route 1 died Friday in LenCare Rest Home in Fayetteville.

She was a member of Stedman Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Stedman Baptist Church by the Revs. Phillip Spears and Virgil Wilson. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons, Norman F. Jones of Stedman and Billy L. Jones of Fayetteville; a sister, Lillie Hughes of Stedman; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stedman Baptist Church, Stedman, N.C. 28391; or to Hospice of Cumberland County, P.O. Box 53324, Fayetteville, N.C. 28305.

Billy J. Saylor (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

BUIES CREEK -- Billy Jack Saylor, 19, of Buies Creek, formerly of Wellborn, Fla., died Friday.

He was a member of Jasper Advent Christian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Bixler Memorial Christian Church in Dowling Park, Fla., by the Revs. Ron Thomas and Steve Ruberg. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak, Fla. Arrangements are being handled by Daniels Funeral Home of Live Oak.

Mr. Saylor is survived by his mother, Sandra A. Saylor of Wellborn; his father and stepmother, Billy and Vicki Saylor of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Merinda Saylor of Wellborn; his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Sandra Craig of O’Brien, Fla., and Melvin and Bobbie Thompson of Jacksonville; his maternal great-grandmother, Madlyn Henderson of Interlachen, Fla.; and his paternal grandparents, Estill and Darlene Barrs of Branford, Fla.

Mrs. Ida B. Campbell (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

ORRUM -- Mrs. Ida Ruth Byrd Campbell, 73 of 18048 N.C. 130 E. died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home of Fairmont.

Gaston E. Jernigan (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

WHITEVILLE -- Gaston Elroy “Speedy” Jernigan, 79, of Jack Hayes Road died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Prong Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Mason Jr. Burial will be in George Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.

Mr. Jernigan is survived by five sisters, Jessie B. Haynes of Lake Waccamaw, and Allean Jernigan, Nellie R. Smith, Willa D. Cogdell and Evelyn Shird, all of Whiteville; and a brother, Dillard Jernigan of Euclid, Ohio.

Justin Hill (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

WHITEVILLE -- Justin Hill, 20, of 204 Stanley Circle died Sunday.

Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home.

Earnest Young (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

WHITEVILLE -- Earnest Young, 66, of 3505 Hallsboro Road died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Peoples Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Mitchell Field Cemetery in Clarkton.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Peggy Young; a daughter, Wilma Howard of Bridgeport, Conn.; a son, Earnest Howard of Mt. Airy; his mother, Lois Jones of Nichols, S.C.; four sisters, Adell Strayhorne of Loris, S.C., Bertha Oliver of Nichols, Mary Brunson of Rains, S.C., and Della Wilson of Mullins, S.C.; and three brothers, Larry Jones and Gillis Jones, both of Nichols, and William Jones of Loris.

Ms. Edna R. Blue (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Edna Ruth Blue, 80, of 66 Airport Road died Sunday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Leonard ‘Silk’ McKoy (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

CLARKTON -- Leonard “Silk” McKoy, 37, of 127 Littlejohn Road died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Ford. Burial will be in Clarkton Community Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. McKoy is survived by a son, Brandon L. McKoy of Clarkton; his parents, George and Mary McKoy of Clarkton; four sisters, Barbara McKoy of Clarkton, Sherry Campbell of Red Springs, Sharon McKoy of Council and Georgia Powell of Fayetteville; a brother, George McKoy Jr. of Clarkton; and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Vonnie Cromartie of Lisbon.

Mrs. Millie B. McKinnon (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

EVERGREEN -- Mrs. Millie B. McKinnon, 74, of 944 Otis Nixon Road died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Mt. Horeb AME Church by the Rev. Judy Johnson. Burial will be in Evergreen Community Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinnon is survived by five daughters, Ruth Gaddy of Lumberton, Shirley Gaddy of Kinston, and Nancy Shipman, Darlene Bethea and Eva Samuel, all of Evergreen; and four sons, Burnice Gaddy of Kinston, Cleveland Gaddy of Chadbourn, Levon McKinnon of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kenneth R. Gaddy of Laurel, Md.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville.

James A. Cooper (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

James Andrew Cooper, 37, of 3720 Wyatt St., Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills by the Rev. Thomas M. White.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Charlene Cooper of the home; a daughter, Melissa Cooper of the home; a stepdaughter, Mary Ventura of Fayetteville; his parents, Robert and Irene Cooper of Fayetteville; a brother, Eric Cooper of Fayetteville; and two sisters, Virginia Norton of Hope Mills and Jacqueline Nelson of Rockfish.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ralph F. Meinhardt (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Ralph Frederick Meinhardt, 69, of Elizabethtown died Sunday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Mr. Meinhardt was a Navy veteran and operated a hospital for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Okinawa. He was a surgeon and general practioner.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elizabethtown Baptist Church by Elders Don Kenyon and Ron Pickell, and Chaplain James B. Hardee. Burial will be in Bladen Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Meinhardt is survived by his wife, Doris T. Meinhardt of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Robyn A. Meinhardt of Glendale, Calif., and Sharon M. Love of Collegdale, Tenn.; a son, Stephen M. Meinhardt of Elizabethtown; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, care of Elizabethtown Seventh-day Adventist Church, P.O. Box 2038, Elizabethtown, N.C. 28337.

Hilliard L. Moore (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Hilliard Laverne Moore, 73, of Fayetteville died Saturday in his home.

He was awarded the Silver Star.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by Chaplain Robert Whitlock. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. Moore; a son, Charles H. Moore of Charlotte; a daughter, Veronika Badgley of Flint, Mich.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 516 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304.

Willard M. Lewis (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

MARION -- Willard Mac Lewis, 70, of Marion died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Kirskey Funeral Home chapel in Marion by the Rev. Bill Long. Burial with military honors will be in McDowell Memorial Park.

Among Mr. Lewis’ survivors is a son, Mack Lewis of Pinehurst; two daughters, Patty Lunsford of Raeford and Debi Murray of Fayetteville; and a sister, Martha Lewis of Fayetteville.

Miss Nadesh L. Gaston (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

LAURINBURG -- Miss Nadesh Leslie Gaston, infant daughter of Erica A. Fairley and Earl L. Gaston of 12281 Barnes Bridge Road, died Friday.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Wednesday in the Fairley family cemetery in Wagram by the Rev. Cecil Alsbrooks. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

In addition to her parents, Nadesh is survived by her maternal grandparents, Oscar B. Fairley Jr. and Ernestine Fairley of Wagram; her paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Celeslie Epps-Malloy and Charles H. Malloy of Laurinburg; her paternal grandfather, Earl Gaston of Jersey City, N.J.; her maternal great-grandparents, Alfred and Clydie McKoy of Laurinburg; and her paternal great-grandmother, Grace F. Lucas of Newark, N.J.

Gordon McClenny (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

LAKE MARY, Fla. -- Gordon McClenny, 79, of 311 N. Forest Blvd., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Royal-Hall Funeral Home of Clinton.

Jesse L. Ingram (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Jesse Lewis Ingram of Brooklyn, formerly of Scotland County, N.C., died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg, N.C.

Mrs. Sallie R. Maynor (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Sallie Revels Maynor, 90, of 411 W. Third St. died Sunday in Pemberton Nursing Home.

Mrs. Maynor was a lifelong member of Berea Baptist Church and was a training union teacher and Bible drill instructor for the Burnt Swamp Baptist Association. She was a former elementary schoolteacher for Robeson County schools.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Berea Baptist Church by the Revs. Bruce Swett, E. Ray Brooks and Jerry Lowery. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Maynor is survived by four daughters, Helen M. Scheirbeck of Fairfax, Va., Olivia M. Revels and Frankie M. Lowry, both of Pembroke, and Patsy M. Barber of Bridgeton, N.J.; a foster son, Chris Scoggins of Frankfurt, Germany; a foster daughter, Jamie Sanderson of Pembroke; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home.
