HAMER -- Kellar Bracey, 71, of Hamer, died Tuesday in Eugene Community Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fairview Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cooper Funeral Home.
Among Mr. Bracey’s survivors are a son, J.T. Locklear of Fairmont; and three sisters, Margaret Brieley of Fayetteville, and Dorothy Bell and Doris Bell, both of Lumberton.
Lera A. McFarland (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
AUSTELL, Ga. -- Lera Adams McFarland, 79, of Austell, formerly of Southern Pines, N.C. and Sanford, N.C., died Thursday in Austell Health Care.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Powell Funeral Home chapel in Southern Pines by the Rev. John D. Stone. Burial will be in Grace’s Chapel Christian Church cemetery in Tramway, N.C.
Mr. McFarland is survived by his wife, Evelyn S. McFarland; two daughters, Jeanette M. Smith of Winston, Ga., and Mildred M. Talbot of Palmdale, Calif.; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; three sisters, Louise M. Arnold and Ruth M. McRae, both of Southern Pines and Myrtle M. Thomas of Palos Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Harold G. Quillen (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
Retired Army Master Sgt. Harold G. Quillen, 62, of 7243 Beta Street, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.
The funeral will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
Wesley S. Garland (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
WINSTON-SALEM -- Dr. Wesley Scott Garland, 68, of 641 Chester Road, died Thursday in Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. in Centenary United Methodist Church by the Rev. George Robinson. Arrangements are being handled by Vogler & Sons Funeral Home.
Among Dr. Garland’s survivors is a stepson, Chappie Petree of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Ada E. Faison (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
CLINTON -- Mrs. Ada E. Faison, 99, of 1317-F Jasper St., died Tuesday in Mary Gran Nursing Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Holly Grove Disciples Church by the Rev. Terrell Powell. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Brock Memorial and Worley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Faison is survived by a daughter, Alice Butler of Clinton; a son, James E. Faison of Clinton; a sister, Ella M. Holmes of Fayetteville; a brother, I.W. Sampson of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the church.
L.A. Hinson (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
WHITEVILLE -- L.A. Hinson, 74, of Whiteville, died Wednesday.
He was a self-employed machinist and blacksmith and had served as Columbus County Commissioner.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in McKenzie Mortuary chapel by the Revs. Guy Formyduval and Martin Benton. Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife, Maxine J. Hinson of the home; three daughters, Patricia Edelkind of Atlanta, Molly Seibel of Boston and Rebecca Huba of Key Largo, Fla.; four sons, John Hinson of Miami, Sam Hinson of Chadbourn, Donald Hinson of Whiteville and Matt Hinson of Wilmington; four sisters, Pauline H. Sigman of Bolton, Dorothy H. Rich of Brunswick, Lela H. Travis of Dillon, S.C., and Catherine H. Bennett of Lumberton; a brother, Eston Hinson of Whiteville; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

FOUR OAKS -- Mrs. Ethel Dunn Adams, 76, of 8438 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, died Friday in Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Wayne Feed Mill in Benson and was a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Banner’s Chapel Advent Christian Church by the Revs. Sam Worley and Wade Massengill. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Adams is survived by a daughter, Janna A. Dorman of Dunn; two sons, Joel Adams of Benson and Chuck Adams of Four Oaks; a foster son, Ira Dunn of Princeton; two sisters, Sarah McLamb of Benson and Jeanette Temple of Four Oaks; two brothers, Robie Dunn of Benson and Olan Dunn of Dunn; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and at other times at the home of Janna and Terry Dorman, Route 7, Box 766, Dunn.

James R. Norris Sr. (dated Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997)
SPRING LAKE -- Retired Air Force Master Sgt. James Robert Norris Sr., 50, of Spring Lake, died Wednesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham.
He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 46 in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Chaplain Shannon K. Philio. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Sara H. Norris of the home; a son, James R. Norris Jr. of the home; two brothers, Billy R. Norris of Laurel Hill and George Norris of Charleston, S.C.; and two sisters, Carolyn Radford and Hazel McCraw, both of Laurel Hill.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Shasheilla Renae Verbal, 41, of Raeford, died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was a member of Avery Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where she was Junior Choir president, Adult Choir director and a member of the Senior Choir.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Avery Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by Elder Stanley A. Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Verbal is survived by her husband, Melvin D. Verbal; two daughters, Melisa D. Verbal and Arnitia M. Verbal, both of the home; her mother, Mary B. Purcell of Sanford; her father, Benjamin F. McNeill of Buffalo, N.Y.; her stepfather, Nathaniel Purcell Jr. of Raeford; her stepmother, Lucy McNeill of Buffalo; five sisters, Rena Purcell of Raeford, Diane Lindsey of Greensboro, and Benita Riveria, Valerie Reed and Sylvia McNeill, all of Buffalo; five brothers, Seddrick Purcell and Anthony Purcell, both of Raeford, Bernard Moultree and Boris McGregor, both of Raeford, and Benjamin F. Mrs. Guyton is survived by two sons, George C. Guyton of Mt. Holly and David M. Guyton of St. Pauls; six daughters, Thelma L. Musselwhite and Betty Bailey, both of Mt. Holly, Vera Bailey of Newport, Lucille Pinrod of Salt Lake City, Virginia W. Watts of St. Pauls and Tonyua G. Barton of Maxton; three brothers, John Thompson of Landis, Donnie Thompson Jr. of Marion, S.C., and William Thompson of Bladenboro; three sisters, Margaret Edensfield of Charleston, S.C., Louise Haywood of Laurinburg and Hattie Grant of Lake View, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was a manager for Tomlinsons for 38 years and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
