Alton R. Davis Sr. (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
BLADENBORO -- Alton Ray Davis Sr., 67, of Bladenboro died Saturday.
Mr. Davis was a director of vocational education for the Bladen County School System for 18 years before retiring. He had been a vocational agricultural teacher for Bladenboro High School. Mr. Davis was a member of The First Baptist Church of Bladenboro and numerous civic organizations including the Bladenboro Rotary Club.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in The First Baptist Church of Bladenboro by the Rev. Russell T. Cherry Jr. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Mickie J. Davis of the home; a daughter, Lynn D. Minges of Raleigh; two sons, Alton R. Davis Jr. of Cary and Michael H. Davis of Bladenboro; five sisters, Allean D. Meador of Lemon Springs, Mattie D. Johnson of Wilmington, Ruth D. Joyner of Garysburg, Gladys D. Pate of Greenville and Alma D. Kraus of Oriental; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 508 E. Bladen St.

Oswell Stephens (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Oswell Stephens, 82, of 5A McLeod Village died Friday in Len Care Nursing Home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Baldwin Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. G.F. Pone. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Lila Stephens of the home; a daughter, DeDe Purdie; five sons, Simpson Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Roy Stephens, Charles Stephens and Leewell Stephens; a stepson, Michael Saunders; and a stepdaughter, Veronica Hall.
William H. Bradford Jr. (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
William H. Bradford Jr. of Fayetteville died Nov. 23 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Bradford was a welder for Dixie Upfittings.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Union AME Church in Lake View, S.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Larry Smith-Cooper Funeral Home of Mullins, S.C.
Mr. Bradford is survived by his fiancee, Cynthia Winston of the home; a son, Shawn C. Bradford of the home; his parents, Lacy F. and William Bradford of Fayetteville; two sisters, Tongia N. Bradford and Michelle B. Leonard, both of Fayetteville; and his grandmother, Lacy Ford of Lake View, S.C.

Cornelius Clark, 87, of 707 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday.

James B. Blue III (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
NEW YORK -- James B. Blue III, 60, of New York, formerly of Carthage, N.C., died Nov. 24.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in John Hall Presbyterian Church in Carthage by the Rev. Joseph Thompson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Kendrick Funeral Home of Southern Pines, N.C.
Mr. Blue is survived by a sister, Pearl Lambert of Neptune, N.Y.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church.
Louis H. Joyner (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
CLINTON -- Louis H. Joyner, 55, of 402 Weeks St. died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Temple Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Rosa Allen. Burial will be in Faison Cemetery in Faison.
Mr. Joyner is survived by two sisters, Gladys Hicks of Clinton and Ida Davis of Warsaw; and two brothers, Archie Joyner of Faison and John Joyner of Dudley.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anna McIntyre (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
RAEFORD -- Mrs. Anna “Reba” McIntyre, 69, of 424 College Drive died Thursday.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Matthew Rouse. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Buie Funeral Home.
Mrs. McIntyre is survived by two daughters, Rebecca M. Smith of Raeford and Machalle Love of the home; five stepchildren, James W. McIntyre of Baltimore, Jydell Taylor, Ann McLaughlin and James McIntyre, all of Houston, and Patricia Hines of Raeford; a sister, Carolyn M. Monroe of Fayetteville; a brother, John D. Smith of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard ‘Gene’ Blue (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
WARREN, Ohio -- Richard Eugene “Gene” Blue, 37, of Warren, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Nov. 22.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville by Bishop Prince Purcell Jr. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Mr. Blue is survived by his wife, Kimolson Blue of Warren; five daughters, Renee Blue, Mercedes Blue and Marquittia Jackson, all of Warren, and Stephanie Blue and Tiffany Blue, both of Atlanta; two sons, Matthew Blue and Tony Blue, both of Warren; his mother, Elnora D. Blue of Fayetteville; four sisters, Regina Key, Pson Blue, Toni Blue and Nina Hughes, all of Fayetteville; and a brother, Johnny Hughes Jr. of Fayetteville.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lucy S. Locklear (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Lucy Sampson Locklear, 84, of 405 W. Third St. died Friday in her home.
Mrs. Locklear retired from the Robeson County School System as a teacher after 42 years. She was a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Pembroke First United Methodist Church by the Revs. Ray Brooks and Ron Dietrich. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Locklear is survived by a daughter, Ruth L. Dial of the home; a brother, John P. Sampson of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Charity Sampson of Pembroke and Martha S. Locklear of Jennings, La.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
The public will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ernest R. Jukes (dated Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997)
ST. PAULS -- Ernest Ralph Jukes, 73, of 14395 U.S. 301 N. died Saturday in his home.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Neuse Lodge of Goldsboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Jukes was retired from the Chautauqua County, N.Y., highway department.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McNeill Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Paul Langston. Burial will be in Great Marsh Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Jukes is survived by his wife, Doris H. Jukes; two daughters, Lori S. Jukes of Springfield, Vt., and Bonnie J. Jukes of the home; a son, Mark E. Jukes of Jamestown, N.Y.; a brother, Richard Jukes of Pittsfield, Pa.; and three sisters, Anna Mae Olka of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Martha Scrivens of Union City, Pa., and Shirley Beardsley of Youngsville, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
