Willie Bryant

Willie Loys Bryant “Whistling Will”, age 81, of 211 Simpson Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, December 4, 2003, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Bryant, a native of Jackson, NC, was the husband of Eva C. Bryant of the residence and the son of the late Clarence Corbett Bryant and Blanche Lassiter Bryant. He was a retired aviation structural mechanic first class from the U.S.C.G. His PCS orders read: “transferred USCG Air Station Heaven.”

Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Ruth B. Broyles of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Bill Bryant of Elizabeth City, NC; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be Sunday, December 7, 2003, at 2:00 PM at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jake Mullins officiating.

Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, is in charge of arrangements.

Grant Buckner

GRANT COLEMAN BUCKNER, 23, of Wanchese, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in his home. Grant was a native of Dare County and was a commercial fisherman. He was a graduate of Manteo High School class of 2000, a member of Wanchese Assembly of God where he was assistant youth pastor. Grant loved his family and had a heart for the Lord Jesus Christ. He had hoped to become a missionary and had done missions work in Costa Rica and Honduras and loved to write music.

He was the son of Michael Buckner of Kitty Hawk and Dolly Tillett of Wanchese.

Besides his parents surviving are two sisters; Lauren Buckner of South Nags Head and Erin Lilley of Kitty Hawk, two brothers; Jason Midgett of Mooresville, N.C. and Chris Paul of Atlanta, Ga, Maternal grandparents; Omie Jennings and Patsy Tillett of Wanchese, Paternal grandmother; Becky Midgett of Stumpy Point and paternal grandparents, the late Roy Lee and Shirley Buckner, three aunts; Gail Lane and husband Ricky of Manns Harbor, Diane Griffin and husband Doug of Rocky Mount, N.C., Sandy Bevil and husband Bill of Charlotte, N.C., his uncle, Larry Buckner and wife Ruth of Raleigh, N.C., two cousins; Woody Fearing of Kitty Hawk and Wendy Fearing of Magnolia, Texas. Grant is also survived by his special friend Hannah Simpson and close friend Bobby Mooty.

A celebration of Grant’s life will be held at Wanchese Assembly of God, Friday, July 18, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. David Dalton and Rev. David Daniels. Burial will be held in Tillett Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home, Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to missions or youth of Wanchese Assembly of God. Twiford’s Colony Chapel Manteo is assisting the Buckner family with arrangements.

David Bulls

Colington, NC - David Lee Bulls, 51, died October 2, 2004 at the Outer Banks Hospital. Mr. Bulls was born in Franklin, VA, was self-employed and was a Baptist. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bulls was the son of Levy B. Bulls, Jr and the late Gloria Denson Bulls.

Besides his father, he is survived by one sister, Laura Redden of Charleston, WV; 4 brothers; Rev. Bobby Bulls of Fayetteville, NC, Jerry Bulls of Capron, VA, Kenneth Bulls and Steve Bulls, both of Franklin, VA; his companion, Sharon Wade of Colington.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Rose Marie Bunch

Elizabeth City, NC - Rose Marie Rose Bunch, age 61, of 900 Parsonage Street, Extd., Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 in Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Tyrrell County, NC, daughter the late Fred Rose and Bethel Cahoon Rose, and was wife of the late James “Pete” William Bunch. Mrs. Bunch worked in the housekeeping department for Albemarle Hospital, and was a member of Olivet Lakes Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sonya Phelps of Elizabeth City, NC; one son, Dallas Edward “Eddie” Bunch of South Mills, NC; two sisters, Patsy Rose Weeks of Elizabeth City, NC, and Annie Lee Rose Brickhouse of Columbia, NC; three half sisters, Rengina Rose Kramer of Chesapeake, VA, Myra Keyzer of Pantego, NC; and Marilyn Simpson of Richmond, VA; two half brothers, Freddy Rose of Va. Beach, VA, and Buddy Rose of AL; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2004 in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Ray Archer officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and at the residence at other times. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Mathews Bundy

Elizabeth City, NC - Elizabeth Mathews Bundy, age 101 of 101 Nancy Dr., Elizabeth City, NC died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Perquimans Co, NC; daughter of the late John R. and Caroline Thompson Mathews and was the widow of Percy A. Bundy. She was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Women since 1921, The Mt. Hermon Home Demonstration Club and the World War I Veterans Women’s Auxiliary.

Mrs. Bundy is survived by two daughters, Melba Bridgman of Elizabeth City, NC and Ola Mae Cimerro of Raleigh, NC; a son, Nolan Bundy of Elizabeth City, NC; five grandchildren, Linda Bridgman, Donald Bridgman, and Clark Bridgman, Karen Peters and Pamela Brown; eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Audrey Banks and Ola Norman.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 16, 2003 at 4:00 PM in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church with Rev. Haywood Gillikin officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC on Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the residence. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Building Fund, 693 Methodist Church Rd., Elizabeth City, NC, 27909.

Herbert Lloyd Bundy

Hertford, NC - Herbert Lloyd Bundy, age 80, of 190 Colson Lane, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Pasquotank County, NC, son of the late Charlie and Ludie Haskett Bundy. He was the husband of Ann Poyner Bundy of Ruther Glen, VA. Mr. Bundy worked as a Meat Cutter and was a Baptist.

He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Becky” Maiatico of Ruther Glen, VA; one son, Walter P. “Buddy” Bundy of Blacksburg, VA; three sisters, Ludie Colson and Essie Wilson both of Hertford, NC, and Mary Bundy of Elizabeth City, NC; one brother, Johnny Bundy of Tacoma, WA; two grandchildren, Steven and Michael Maiatico. She was predeceased by one sister, Alice Wilson, and four brothers, Jesse, Dave, Henry, and Earl Bundy.

Funeral service will be Friday, April 25, 2003, at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home following the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Colson, 419 Hog Neck Road, Hertford, NC. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Seldon Toler Bundy

Seldon Georganna Melvina Toler Bundy, age 83, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Britthaven Outer Banks. Mrs. Bundy was a native of Pasquotank County and lived for many years in Point Harbor, NC. She was the widow of Darwin T. Bundy and the daughter of the late Noah M. and Minnie Reaves Toler. She was a lifelong member of Pearl Street Pentecostal Church in Elizabeth City, where over the years she served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, and Choir Member. A talented vocalist, Seldon performed for years with the Toler Trio, singing at live programs on the local radio, area churches, and for weddings and funerals. She worked for the Currituck County School System for many years and was an airplane spotter in the Civil Air Patrol during WW II.

She is survived by three daughters, Darsel and James Keiller of Ellenwood, GA, Shelah and George Portoukalian of Franklin, NC, and Lori and Robert London, Jr. of Point Harbor, NC and Kill Devil Hills, NC; one sister, Marion Crank of Norfolk, VA; one brother, James C. and Betty Toler of Ft. Payne, AL; one sister-in-law, Margaret Toler of Elizabeth City, NC; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Fern Lewis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 11:00 AM in Pearl Street Pentecostal Church with Rev. Steve Strickland and Janice Boyce officiating. Burial will be in Old Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, immediately following the services in the church lobby, and at other times at the residence of the daughter, Lori London, 128 Holly Lane, Point Harbor, NC.

Jerald Bundy, Sr.

Rodanthe, NC - Jerald Wayne “Jerry” or “Jack” Bundy, 68, of 24252 Dean Avenue, Rodanthe, NC died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Chesapeake General Hospital. He was born in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Leland William and Earle Virginia Hall Bundy and was the husband of Alice Midgett Bundy of the residence. Mr. Bundy was the retired owner of West Kempsville Mechanical, a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Norfolk, and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps having served in the Korean Conflict.

Besides his wife, Mr. Bundy is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Mourino of Rodanthe, NC; two sons, Jerald Wayne Bundy, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA and Jeffrey Bundy of North Carolina; three sisters, Joan Darden of Elizabeth City, NC, Jill Privee of Richford, VT, and Shirley Jean Fish of Goldsboro, NC; two brothers, Leland William Bundy, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and Wallace Terry Bundy of California; four grandchildren, one of which is Aiyana Mourino of Rodanthe, NC; and several step children and step grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC by the Rev. Ronnie Midgett. Burial will follow at the Manteo Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence.

Lina Mae Raper Cartwright
Resident of Elizabeth City, NC

Lina Mae Raper Cartwright, age 83, of 109 Brantwood Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Winslow Memorial Home. She was born in Pasquotank County, daughter of the late Robert and Mary Scott Raper, and was the widow of Julian Brant Cartwright, Sr. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, and a past president of P.T.A. for Central High School.

Mrs. Cartwright is survived by a daughter, Peggy Cartwright Holly and husband Gary of Apex, NC; five grandchildren, MSgt. William David Sharber, Connie Parks, Christa Barnett, Bridget Johnson, and J.B. Cartwright, III; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, J.B. Cartwright, Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2003 at 3:00 pm in Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy Head officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church and at other times at the residence. Lillian Jordan Britton

Suffolk – Lillian Jordan Britton, 89, died Jan 19, 2004 at Nansemond Point Nursing Center. Mrs. Britton was born in Benn’s Church, the daughter of the late Charles Samuel Jordan and the late Anne Atkins Jordan. She graduated from Smithfield High School and Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert (Bob) Glenwood Britton Jr., four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Bette Begley of Suffolk and Bonnie Carmines and husband Ralph of Portsmouth, three grandchildren, James Brian Begley of Suffolk, Leslie Jill Begley of Charlottesville, and Neil Robert Begley, wife Andrea and daughter Kristen of Chesapeake, one great grandchild, Destiny Begley of Suffolk, two sisters Edna Cornette of Arizona and Virginia Bailey of Windsor, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, Jan 22 at Hickory United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the church social hall. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Twiford Colonial Chapel on Battlefield Blvd. In Great Bridge from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday Jan 21. Alma Forbes Brinkley
Resident of Riddle, NC

Alma Forbes Brinkley, age 81, of 700 Block of Sandy Hook Road, NC, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at her residence. She was born in Riddle, NC, the daughter of the late Simeon and Meddie Riggs Forbes, and was the widow of Otis Monroe Brinkley, Sr. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a member of the Kendrick Group of the Women’s Missionary Union.

Mrs. Brinkley is survived by a daughter, Nancy Brinkley Carter and husband, Don of Moyock, NC; three sons, William Earl Brinkley and wife, Patricia of Chesapeake, VA, Otis Monroe Brinkley, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Camden, NC, and Carl Simeon Brinkley and wife, Kimberly of Riddle, NC; two grandchildren, Lisa Brinkley Price and husband, Burt of Elizabeth City, NC, and Carl Cody Brinkley of Riddle, NC; and a brother, Nathan Forbes of Riddle, NC.

A funeral service will be Friday, June 4, 2004 at 3:00 pm in Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Combs and the Rev. Dr. John Luton officiating. Entombment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church and at other times at the residence. Martha Kirkwood Bright
Native of Dare County, NC

Martha Kirkwood Bright, age 96, of 122 Brickhouse Lane, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at her grand daughter’s home. She was born in East Lake, NC, daughter of the late George W. and Ida Holmes Basnight and the widow of James A. Kirkwood and Jessie G. Bright. She worked at the Elizabeth City Hosery Mill until age 72, and was a Methodist.

Mrs. Bright is survived by a son, George C. Kirkwood of Elizabeth City, NC; and three grandchildren, Kay Arehart of Chesapeake, VA, Georgia Baker and husband Mike of Elizabeth City, NC, and James Kirkwood and wife Sheryl of Elizabeth City, NC; four great grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Sample, Steven Arehart, and Megan Kirkwood; and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Burnett, Ebert, Wallace, and Foster Basnight.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 11:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Roy Head officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the lobby of the funeral home and Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. Sanford Hewitt Bright
Pasquotank County Native

Sanford Hewitt Bright, age 59, of Lot 2 Amarest Manor, Elizabeth City, NC, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at The Outer Banks Hospital. Mr. Bright, a native of Pasquotank County, was the husband of Marie Sanders Bright of the residence and the son of the late William Thomas Bright and Mary Floyde Hewitt Bright. He was a roofer, a member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, and a retired veteran of the U. S. Army.

Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Cathie Cafferello of Hanahan, SC, Kimberly Camou of Cordova, TN, Tina Bright and Erinna Bright both of Annacoco, LA, and Cathy Bright of Louisville, KY; three sons, Brent Stone of Elizabeth City, NC, Sanford H. Bright, Jr., and Clarence T. Bright both of Louisville, KY; three sisters, Phyllis Minton of Sargant, TX, Selma Parron of Aydlett, NC, and Susan Haubrich of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, Elton Bright of Pinetops, NC, Frank Bright of Creswell, NC, and Douglas Bright of Elizabeth City, NC; eight grand-children; and one great grandchild.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 2:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating and military honors rendered by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post # 6060. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday and at other times at the residence.

Dorothy Brickle

Nags Head, NC - Dorothy Bass Brickle, 81, of 4718 South Pamlico Way, Nags Head, NC died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at her residence. She was born in Rocky Hock, NC to the late Jack Quinton and Elizabeth Smith Bass and was the widow of Clarence Gibson “Brick” Brickle. She was a former owner\operator of Brick’s Service Station from 1961-1984 and a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brickle is survived by three sons, John Gibson “Jack” Brickle of Kitty Hawk, NC, David Clarence Brickle and wife Donna of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Robert Gibson “Bobby” Brickle of Nags Head, NC; one sister, Madge Fleetwood of Edenton, NC; one brother, Howard Bass of Plymouth, NC; and three grandsons, Steven, Michael, and Daniel Brickle. She was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Herrin and two brothers, Murray and Linwood Bass.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 3:00 PM at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens by the Rev. David Daniels. The family will receive friends and relatives at the residence immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dare County EMS, P.O. Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954 or to the Nags Head Fire Department, P.O. Box 99, Nags Head, NC 27959.

Donald “Little Boy” Austin

PORTSMOUTH – Donald “Little Boy” Austin, 71, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19th 2004. He was a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church, and had retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service.

He is survived by his Loving wife of 47 years Meleitta Austin; daughter Joni Tallman and husband Bob; sons Donald Jr. Austin, Phillip Austin, all of Portsmouth; brother Aubrey Austin and wife June of Greenville, N.C.; grandson Kenneth Tallman; 5 nieces; sister in law Dixie Austin.

A funeral service will be held at the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Avon N.C. on Wednesday, June 23rd 2004 at 1 PM with the Rev Dwight Burris officiating. The family will receive friends afterwards at the home of Meleitta’s sister Estelle Gray.

Sybil G. Brickhouse

Sybil Gallop Brickhouse, age 89, of Edgewater Drive, Harbinger, NC, died Friday, January 31, 2003 at Chowan Hospital in Edenton, NC. A native of Currituck County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Murelle Gallop and Bertie Montaque Gallop, and was the widow of Herman Robert Brickhouse. She was a retired private sitter and a member of Powells Point Christian Church.

Mrs. Brickhouse is survived by: one daughter Loretta Guard of Edenton, NC; two sons Gilbert Ray Brickhouse of Colington, NC, and Don Reed Brickhouse of Harbinger, NC; two brothers Ralph Lee Gallop and Herbert Gallop, both of Harbinger, NC; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Outland and Edith Parker.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, February 3, 2003, at 11:30 AM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, by the Rev. James R. Huskins. Burial will follow in Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, February 2, 2003 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, and in the lobby of the funeral home immediately after the service. Memorial donations may be made to Edenton United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 37, Edenton, NC 27932. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC is handling funeral arrangements.

Nellie Adalaide Brickhouse

Camden, NC - Nellie Adalaide Brickhouse, age 95, of Camden, NC, died Friday, January 17, 2003, at Winslow Memorial Home. She was born in Tyrrell County, NC, the daughter of the late William Charlie and Narcissus Brickhouse Hollis and was the widow of Henry Louis Brickhouse. She was a member of the Camden Church of Christ.

Mrs. Brickhouse is survived by two daughters, Virginia D. Sanders and husband Malcolm of Camden, NC, and Margie Marie Holtz and husband Lewis of Frontnac, KS; a son, Edmond Earl Brickhouse and wife Muriel of Camden, NC; thirteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Shelton V. Brickhouse; two sisters, Bessie Hollis and Nancy Hollis; and three brothers, Alfred Hollis, Dallas Hollis and Charlie Hollis.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, January 20, 2003, at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with Minister Mike McNamara officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home.

Johnnie H. Bratten
Native of Kinston, NC

Johnnie H. Bratten, age 83, Poplar Branch, NC, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Lenoir County, NC, and was the widow of Joseph Mack Bratten. Besides being a proud home maker, Mrs. Bratten worked at the New Fowler Store in Elizabeth City and Dr. C.N. Wright Medical Practice in Jarvisburg, NC, and was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bratten is survived by two daughters, Lola McNeese of Shepherdsville, KY, and Sylvia Griggs of Grandy, NC; three sons, Wayne Bratten of Pauleys Island, SC, James Bratten of Edenton, NC, and John Bratten of Fort Wayne, IN; two sisters, Sadie Farmer and Bernice Sutton; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 11:00 AM in Poplar Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn McCraine and Rev. Bill Thorn officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Branch. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Poplar Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 247, Grandy, NC 27939. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is in charge of funeral arrangements.

O. VANCE AYDLETT SR.

Knotts Island – Cap’n Vance passed away Wednesday, December 31st, 2003. He was a Merchant Marine who served during WWII as a 2nd Mate, a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Master Mates Pilots, and was an avid outdoorsman, duck carver, and a wonderful cook.

Mr. Aydlett is predeceased by his parents, John Norris Aydlett Sr., and Allie H. Aydlett; spouse Inez Swain Aydlett. He is survived by four daughters, Marguerite Green (Kenneth) of Coinjock, NC, Carol Morse (Norman Jr.) of Poplar Branch, NC, Melissa A Venham (Robert Carl) of Aydlett NC, and Michele Aydlett of Coinjock, NC; son Vance Aydlett Jr. (Kathy) of Knotts Island NC; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday at Powell’s Point Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Mann and Wayne P. Twiford Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake Sunday from 7 pm to 8 pm.

Evelyn G. Brashear

Evelyn Marie Greenway Brashear, 81, of 103 Pierce Ave., South Mills, NC, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Clearview, PA, the daughter of the late Amos P. and Christine Weller Greenway and was the widow of Harold Earl Brashear. She was a former self employed seamstress, a member of Faith Baptist Church, a member of the Widowed Ladies Club of Faith Baptist Church, and a member of the Camden Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Brashear is survived by one daughter, Carol Humbert of South Mills, NC; one son, Robert Horas Brashear of Yardley, PA; two grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Amos Greenway.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday October 4, 2002 at 10:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Al Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 113 Foxboro Dr., Elizabeth City, NC 27909.

Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is in charge of arrangements.
