Helen Isley
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Helen Elizabeth Isley, 205 Atwater St., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 1996, in Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
Born June 21, 1916, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Charles Henry and Media Ward Isley.
Survivors include three sisters, Mildred I. Atwater of the residence, Maurine I. Brown and Polly I. Boland, both of Burlington; and a brother, Max Isley of Durham.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Yanceyville Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Marie Reed. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Marley Funeral Home in Yanceyville.
Jack Hamlett
Yanceyville, N.C. - The Rev. Jack Hamlett Jr., 61, of 412 N.C. Highway Old 86 North, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996 in North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill.
Born May 10, 1935 in Caswell County, he was the son of William S. Hamlett and Odie Snow Hamlett.
He was pastor of Freedom Baptist Church in Danville, Va. Prior to his retirement he was employed with A.M.I. of Burlington, N.C. for 14 years, Ruzicka Book Binding of Greensboro for 11 years and H&H Clothing in Greensboro.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Ferris Hamlett; three daughters, Joy H. Shumaker of Graham; Angie Smith and Sharon Willis of Yanceyville; two sisters, Annie Smith of Mebane and Lena Matlock of Greensboro; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Jackie Hamlett, who died in 1986.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church in Yanceyville by the Rev. Wayne Hall and Rev. Dewey Cheek. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8:30 at Marley Funeral Home in Yanceyville. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Catherine Pruett
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Catherine Yarbrough Pruett, 93, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, in Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Born Oct. 16, 1903, in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was a daughter of Eddie Thomas and Mary Walton Yarbrough.
She was married
to Charles Wesley Pruett, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church in Danville, Va.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Pruett of Winston-Salem; a sister, Sadie Evans of Raleigh; and one grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Dr. Guy Hipp.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem.
Pattie Mundy
GRAHAM, N.C. - A graveside service for Pattie Evans Mundy, 101, 418 Providence Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. today in Leemont Cemetery by the Rev. Jimmie Pruitt.
She died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, in Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 28, 1895, in Danville, Va., she was a daughter of John Wesley Evans and Emma Wilson Evans.
On May 23, 1913, she was married
to George D. Mundy, who died Jan. 14, 1943.
She spent her entire life in Danville and Alamance County. Prior to her retirement in 1969, she was employed by Virginia Cotton Mill. She was also a member of Swepsonville Baptist Church.
She is survived by two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Jesse A. Mundy.
Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Trogdon
ASHEBORO, N.C. - Clarence Herbert Trogdon, 80, 219 Crescent Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, in Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
For 52 years, he was married
to Leola Moser Trogdon, who predeceased him.
He was a member of Browers Chapel United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Bossong Hosiery Mill.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Chafin of High Point, Janet Laughlin of Danville, Va., and Joanne Cox of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Harold Trogdon and Russell Trogdon, both of Asheboro; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro by Dr. John Laughlin. Burial will be in Browers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8 tonight at the funeral home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.
Harry Tate Jr.
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Harry Clayborne Tate Jr., 50, 112 Field St., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Rockingham County.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys Fowler Buck of Reidsville; two daughters, Gladys "Dee Dee" Tate Allen of Burlington, and Sebrina Tate Hubbard of Caswell County; one son, Harry C. Tate III of Reidsville; two sisters, Joan Norman and Judy Thacker, both of Reidsville; one brother, Kenneth Buck of Reidsville; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Walter Turner
EDEN, N.C. - Walter Rawley Turner, 83, 296 McDaniel Road, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at his residence.
Born March 7, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, Va., he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was a retired farmer and retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 43 years at the Draper plant.
He was married
to Rachel Cassell Turner.
He was formerly married
to Minnie Lee Boyd of Eden.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, Walter James Turner Sr. of Eden, and Earnest Ray Turner of Centre, Ala.; one daughter, Brenda T. Jarrett of Eden; one brother, Harvey Turner of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Clara T. Dodson of Ruffin, N.C., and Virginia Hinton of Dry Fork, Va.; three stepsons, Fred Hale, Bobby Hale, and Wayne Massey; and one stepdaughter, Jeanette Rae; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Dan View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
David Campbell
Yanceyville, N.C. - David Jackson Campbell, 84, of 2920 George Russell Road died at his home Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996 after a decline in health for several months.
Born in Caswell County, he was the son of Thomas M. and Annie Bell King Campbell. A retired farmer, he was educated in Caswell County Schools and was a member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Hattie Virginia Edward Campbell of the home, he is survived by four daughters, Ann Paschal of Ruffin; Jane Shoemaker of Reidsville; Faye Barts of Blanch; and Wilma Gauldin of Prospect Hill; six sons, Joseph Campbell of the home; Allen Campbell, Eugene Campbell and Edgar Campbell, all of Burlington; Charlie Campbell of Elon College; and Daniel Campbell of Graham; one sister, Fannie Swanson of Utah; and two brothers, Jim Campbell of Yanceyville and Ernest Campbell of Blackwell Rest Home.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Florina King and Mozell Campbell.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Wallis Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be carried to the home at 11 a.m. Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Lottie Gregory
MAYODAN, N.C. - Lottie Wright Gregory, 87, 307-C Whitbeck Drive, Oakwood Manor Apts., died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, in her residence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Pittsylvania County, Va.
She was married
to the Rev. Herman Aubrey Gregory, who predeceased her.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Elliott Duncan Elementary School in Mayodan as a dietician for over 18 years.
She was formerly active in the Retarded Children's Program in Rockingham County. She was also a member of Valley Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mountain Valley, Va.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise G. Ziglar of Mayodan and Nellie G. Hill of Madison; three sons, Billy R. Gregory of Hampton, Va., Jackie D. Gregory of West Hills, Calif., and Ralph P. Gregory of Gold Beach, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday from County Line Christian Church Cemetery in Axton, Va.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Ray Funeral Home in Madison, and other times at the residence.
Daisy Bumgarner
LANDIS, N.C. - Daisy Pruitt Bumgarner, 92, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 1996, in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital of Concord.
Born April 4, 1904, in Pelham, she was a daughter of Lizzie Pruitt and James Pruitt.
She was married
to Claude Bumgarner Sr., who died in 1983.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Linn Mills in Landis as a spinner. She was also a member of Concord Lake Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Claude Bumgarner Jr. of Mooresville and David M. Bumgarner of Cornelius; three sisters, Frances Jefferson, Maggie Pruitt and Lucy Hill, all of Danville, Va.; two grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Concord Lake Baptist Church by Dr. Bill R. Frye. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis.
