Dale Dixon
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Dale Bernard Dixon, 36, 2119 Park Springs Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996, in his residence.
Born Nov. 17, 1959, in Danville, Va., he was a son of Bernard Harding Dixon and Reba Moss Dixon, who survive.
He attended Park Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was a graduate of Piedmont Academy and of Danville Community College, where he had built and demonstrated a solar car.
He was employed by the North Carolina Public School System as a mechanic.
In addition to his parents of Providence, he is survived by a daughter, Amanda Renee Dixon of Danville; and a son, Matthew Dale Dixon of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Park Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Mark Moore. Burial will be in Moon Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his parents, 2091 Park Springs Road, Providence.
Dandridge Shepherd
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Dandridge A. Shepherd, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996.
Born Dec. 21, 1917, in Danville, Va., she was a daughter of Alfred and Beulah Warren Abney.
She was married
to W.G. Shepherd, who survives.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Lynda S. Lowery of South Boston, Va., Bonita S. Griffith of Pekin, Ill., and Sherry S. Pittman of Supply; a son, Dr. W.N. Shepherd of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Rocky Mount Memorial Park by Bishop Boney. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Dock McCain
BLANCH, N.C. - Dock Henry McCain, 66, of 3452 High Rock School Road, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, at his residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1930, in Caswell County, he was the son of Roxanna Johnson McCain and Charlie McCain.
He was married
to Alene Garland McCain.
He was a retired construction worker.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one son, Henry Leon McCain of Burlington; two stepsons, Earl Garland of Burlington and Clyde Garland of New York City; two daughters, Carol Graves of Burlington, and Ida McCain of Green Level; four brothers, Ernest McCain and Burris McCain, both of Blanch, Paul McCain and Charlie McCain, both of Richmond; two sisters, Mae F. Long of Blanch, and Maggie Harrison of Yanceyville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Semora by the Rev. D.P. Medley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 Monday night at Fulton Funeral Home in Yanceyville, and at other times at the residence.
William Anderson Sr.
ROUGEMONT, N.C. - William Wade Anderson Sr., 62, 230 Mountain Brook Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, in his residence, following an illness.
Born Feb. 25, 1934, in Danville, Va., he was a son of Laura Beverly Anderson and Archie Shelton Anderson.
He was married
to Virginia Moxley Anderson, who survives.
He moved to Durham in 1961. He was employed by Pike Electrical Construction Co. for 26 years. In 1984, he moved to Rougemont.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Lori A. Watt of Apex; a son, William Wade Anderson Jr. of Rougemont; three brothers, Joseph Anderson, Allen Anderson, and Charlie Anderson, all of Danville, Va.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Charles Cumbow, the Rev. Johnny Gentry, and the Rev. Greg Allison. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Clements Funeral Home in Durham, and 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Swicegood Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at the residence of his brother, Allen Anderson, 199 Banner Street, Danville, Va.
Elizabeth Butler
BLANCH, N.C. - Elizabeth Kerr Thompson Butler, 58, 3209 N.C. Hwy. 62 North, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1996, in Treyburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Durham.
Born March 15, 1938, in Person County, she was a daughter of Lucile Gentry Thompson, who survives, and Edwin W. Thompson.
She was a graduate of Alamance Community College. Prior to her decline in health, she was employed by Roache Biomedical in Burlington. She was also a member of Griers Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her mother of Blanch, survivors include a daughter, Terry Nelm of Timberlake; two step-daughters, Jo Butler Crawford of Louisburg and Bonnie Butler Wilson of Burlington; two sons, Lawrence Edwin Barker of Semora and Carl Davis Butler Jr. of Choctaw, Okla.; two sisters, Janie T. Mitchell of Ahoskie and Margaret Thompson of Blanch; two brothers, Edwin W. Thompson Jr. and William L. Thompson, both of Blanch; six grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Davis Butler, who died Aug. 12, 1996, and by a sister, Georgia G. Thompson.
Marley Funeral Home of Yanceyville is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Elizabeth Butler

Dr. Roland Johnson
HICKORY, N.C. - Dr. Claud Roland Johnson, 49, Hickory, N.C., died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, of complications from a congenital heart problem.
Born Oct. 14, 1946, in Danville, Va., he was a son of Dr. L.D. Johnson and Marion Ervin Johnson, who survives.
He was married
to Suzanne Clark Johnson, who survives.
He was a graduate of Furman University, Duke University Divinity School, and received his doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
After serving as a Baptist pastor to churches in Virginia and Georgia for 21 years, he continued his ministry as executive director of ALFA (Aids Leadership Foothills Alliance) in Hickory.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hickory.
In addition to his mother and his wife, survivors include two sons, Lafayette David Johnson of Richmond and Mark Roland Johnson of the residence; a daughter, Rebecca Clark Johnson of the residence; and a sister, Elaine Yeatts of Richmond.
A worship service will be held 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Hickory. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Danville, Va.
The family will receive friends 7:30-9:00 tonight at First Baptist Church in Danville, and other times at the residence.

Lois Littlejohn
EDEN, N.C. - Lois Henderson Littlejohn, 74, of 203 S. Edgewood Road, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Born April 9, 1922, in Halifax County, Va., she was the daughter of Roy Satterfield Henderson and Eva Henderson Henderson.
She was married
to Robin Adair Littlejohn, who survives.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Eden.
In addition to her husband of Eden, she is survived by one son, Steven Charles Littlejohn of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Cecile Shelton and Janey Morris both of Danville, Va., and two grandsons.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Level Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joel Long. The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Powell Funeral Home, South Boston, Va.
Elsie McCollough
EAST SPENCER, N.C. - Elsie Slade McCullough, 76, of 512 Welder St., died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996, at her residence. She had been in declining health for several years.
Born Sept. 14, 1920, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Lillie Correll Slade and Felix Slade.
She was a graduate of Dunbar High School and was a retired crossing guard with the East Spencer Police Department.
She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Deaconess Board, Usher Board, Sunday school, Truelight Missionary Circle and Kitchen Committee. She was also a member of of the East Spencer Senior Citizens and the 2nd Street Community Club.
Her husband, W.B. McCollough, preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Willie J. McCollough of the home; Eugene McCollough and John A. McCollough both of East Spencer; one daughter, Julia M. Wilson of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Helen Scott of East Spencer and Julia Wood of Salisbury, N.C.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel in Salisbury by the Rev. William Conrad and the Rev. John G. Gaston. Burial will be in U.S. National Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at A. R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel.

Fannie Collins
PINEHURST, N.C. - Fannie M. Collins, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, in Manor Care Nursing Center.
Born May 1, 1919, in Danville, Va., she was a homemaker. She was also a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.
She has no surviving relatives.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday from Pugh Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Southern Pines.
