Esther Powell
BLANCH, N.C. - Esther Powell, 88, 1073 Farmer Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 12, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Auville Brady Gibson and Sally Hall Gibson.
She spent her entire life in Caswell County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Gibson Powell of Charlottesville, Va., and A.B. Powell of Blanch; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lambert Mann Powell, and by a son, L.M. Powell.
A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday from Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. James Albert.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Elsie Powell, 555 Iris Lane, and at the residence.
Fannie Collins
PINEHURST, N.C. - Fannie M. Collins, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, in Manor Care Nursing Center.
Born May 1, 1919, in Danville, Va., she was a homemaker. She was also a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.
She has no surviving relatives.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday from Pugh Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Southern Pines.

Steve Osborne
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Steve V. Osborne, 38, of United Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996, in his residence.
Born in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Dorothy Nelson and Garnett V. Osborne, who survive.
He was a founding member of Amazing Grace Christian Church. He was also a Triad Health Project volunteer and served the community as an AIDS educator. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a Names Project AIDS Quilt volunteer.
In addition to his mother of Chatham, Va., and his father of Rocky Mount, Va., he is survived by his step-father, Dean Nelson of Chatham, Va.; two brothers, Danny Osborne and Donald Osborne, both of Chatham, Va.; and two sisters, Bonnie Goad of Bassett, Va., and Tina Perdue of Glade Hill, Va.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. Burial will be in Westminister Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Noah Stump
EDEN, N.C. - Noah Nelson Stump, 88, of 1116 Front St., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996, in Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
He was born in Floyd, Va., and lived with his great-nephew and guardians, Ben and Glenda Lipford Jr.
He formerly lived with Willie and Claudine Mills, who predeceased him.
Survivors include one sister, Sarah Denny of Eden.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dan View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home, Eden, and other times will be at the residence.
Wilma Craig
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Wilma Hollifield Craig, 83, 182 Shady Acres Lane, died Wednesday, June 12, 1996, in her residence.
A native of Asheville, she was a member of State Street Church of God.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Cone Mills.
Survivors include six sons, James Craig and Ellis C. Craig, both of Reidsville, Jerry Ray Craig and Anthony J. Craig, both of Greensboro, Samuel E. Craig and Drew Craig, both of Ruffin; two sisters, Thelma Lawson and Nellie Dillard, both of Greensboro; a brother, Fred Blackmon of Wilmington; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eillis Creed Craig; and two daughters, Peggy Joyce Ryals and Judy Marie Ryals.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Henry N. Wallace
SEMORA, N.C. - Henry Nathaniel Wallace, 74, of 4783 N.C. Highway 57 North, died Saturday in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Fred Wallace and Annie Worley Wallace.
He worked as a security guard second lt. for Globe Security and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Rowland Wallace, in 1983.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Wayne Wallace of Danville; one daughter, Phyllis Klaff of Danville; one sister, Jean Alderson of Danville; one brother, Bobby Wallace of Danville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from the chapel of Barker Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Ewing. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park with military honors to be performed by American Legion Post 325.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of Phyllis Klaff, 318 Westhampton Ave.
Michael D. Wray
EDEN, N.C. - Michael Dale Wray, 47, of 127 Azalea Rd., died Sunday in his home.
Born in Draper, he was the son of Lilly W. Wray of Eden.
He was employed by Amp Inc. and was a member of Osborne Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Margaret Dickerson Wray; two sons, Mark Anthony Osborne and Timothy Clyde Osborne, both of Eden; one daughter, Teresa Brooks of Sutherlin, Va.; two brothers, Curtis Wray of Ruffin and Bobby Wray of Greensboro; also six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home chapel in Eden. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Garden in Reidsville.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence in Eden.
