Esther Hedrick

Lexington, N.C. - Esther Hedrick Hedrick, 94, formerly of Hedricks Grove, died Monday in Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Born May 27, 1902 in Davidson County, she was a daughter of Wiley C. Hedrick and Alice Allred Hedrick.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of Memorial United Church of Christ. She was a past Sunday school teacher and a member of the Woman's Guild. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club.
She was married icon to David Ottis Hedrick, who died on Jan. 12, 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Leon B. Hedrick, of Lexington, and Olin D. Hedrick, of Danville, Va.; one daughter, Evelyn Oates of Lexington; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Memorial United Church of Christ. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the residents of the daughter, 103 Sequoia Dr.

Henry N. Wallace

SEMORA, N.C. - The funeral for Henry Nathaniel Wallace, 74, of 4783 N.C. Highway 57 North, will be conducted 11 a.m. today from the chapel of Barker Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Ewing. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park, with military honors being performed by American Legion Post 325.
He died Saturday, June 14, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Fred Wallace and Annie Worley Wallace.
He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Rowland Wallace, in 1983.
He worked as a security guard second lieutenant for Globe Security and was of the Baptist faith. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Wayne Wallace of Danville; one daughter, Phyllis Klaff of Danville; one sister, Jean Alderson of Danville; one brother, Bobby Wallace of Danville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Phyllis Klaff, 318 Westhampton Ave.

Kenneth Corbett

MEBANE, N.C. - Kenneth Ray Corbett, 4208 Willie Street, Capital Heights, Md., and formerly of Mebane, N.C., died Monday, June 17, 1996, in his residence.
Born April 13, 1960, in Caswell County, he was a son of Elbert and Betty Glass Corbett, who survive.
He was a member of Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church. He was employed as a display artist for Forman Brothers Distributors.
In addition to his parents of Mebane, survivors include five brothers, Sandy Corbett and Abraham Corbett, both of Mebane, James Corbett of Danville, Va., Donnell Corbett of Highpoint, N.C., and Elbert Corbett Jr. of Philadelphia; four sisters, Rosa C. Sellers of Yanceyville, Christine Corbett of Burlington, Joyce Robinson of Oxon Hill, Md., and Flossie Cooper of Temple Hill, Md.
The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday from Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home, in Yanceyville, and other times at residence of his parents, 5654 Burton Chapel Road, Mebane.

Willie Slade Jr.

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Willie Slade Jr., of Old Farm Apartment 10A, died Tuesday, June 18, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 18, 1931, in Caswell County, he was a son of Willie Slade and Mary Gunn Slade.
He was formerly employed by Cone Mills White Oak Plant.
Survivors include three sons, Darrell Slade of Brown Summit and Carl Slade and Tony Slade, both of Burlington; two daughters, Regina Slade and Ruth Arnetta S. Haith, both of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Slade of Burlington; his stepmother, Ruth Slade of Yanceyville; three brothers, Ervin Slade of Greensboro, Roy Slade of Yanceyville and John Slade of Stokesdale; three sisters, Clay Ren of Long Island, N.Y., Virginia Watkins of Danville, Va., and Maggie Watlington of Yanceyville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday from Sassafras Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Bigelow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home, in Yanceyville.

Pauline Chatham

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Pauline B. Chatham, 78, 3610 Edgewood Drive, died Sunday, June 23, 1996, in Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Meadows of Dan, Va.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Edmunds Drug Store. She was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church in Pelham, and also a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, James Leonard Chatham of Danville, Va., and Richard Wayne Chatham and Johnnie Preston Chatham, both of Greensboro; three sisters, Hazel Swainey and Beulah Johnson, both of Greensboro, and Heloise Watts of California; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home in Greensboro. Burial will be in Schoolfield Cemetery in Danville, Va.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Rudolph Fuller

BLANCH, N.C. - Rudolph Currie Fuller, 1789 Slade Road, died Friday, June 21, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 23, 1952, in Alamance County, he was a son of Madeline Briggs Fuller, who survives, and Thie Currie Fuller.
In addition to his mother of Yanceyville, survivors include four sons, Tony Stokes, Rudolph Fuller, Raphael Fuller and Rudie Fuller, all of Yanceyville; seven sisters, Zesta Fuller, Linda Fuller and Brenda Fuller, all of Yanceyville, Sherba Fuller of Jacksonville, N.C., Rhonda Fuller of Hatsfield, Kimberly Fuller of Burlington, and Elssa Melvin of Greensboro; and five brothers, Jerry Fuller and Ronnie Fuller, both of Yanceyville, Donnie Fuller and Gary Fuller, both of Burlington, and Randall Fuller of Greensboro.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Fulton Funeral Home by the Rev. Willie Sellars. Burial will be in Lee Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
The body may be viewed 2-8 tonight at Fulton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Winfred Johnson

EDEN, N.C. - Winfred Wilson Johnson, 83, formerly of Highland Drive, died Thursday, June 27, 1996, in the Morehead Nursing Center of Eden.
He was a native of Henry County, Va.
He was a member of The Church of the Epiphany in Eden, and also a member of the Eastern Star. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Fieldcrest Mills in the Karastan Rug Division.
Survivors include a niece, Karen Foster of Danville, Va., and a host of other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday from Overlook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Fair Funeral Home, in Eden, and other times at the residence of a niece, Inez O'Dell, 807 W. Washington St., Eden.

Virginia Sweet

NEW BERN, N.C. - Virginia Thompson Foley Sweet, 89, died Wednesday, July 3, 1996, in Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Foley Henson of New Bern; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday from Mountain View Cemetery, in Danville, Va., by the Rev. Dr. Robert Dannals.
Pollock-Wells & Best Funeral Home of New Bern is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Gibbs

REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Mary Carter Gibbs, 88, formerly of Reidsville, died Monday, July 1, 1996, in Moses Cone Extended Care.
She was a native of Yanceyville. A graduate from the University School of Nursing at VCU, she was employed as a nurse.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and of the Rockingham County Humane Society.
Survivors include three grandchildren and a niece.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel M. Gibbs, her sister, Nanny Hatcher, and her daughter, Jacqueline Straight.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Main Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Joanna Gibbs, 1406 Gibbs Drive.

Wade Hooker

MEBANE, N.C. - Wade Hampton Hooker, 471 Wade Hooker Road, died Tuesday, July 2, 1996, in Alamance Regional Medical Center of Burlington.
Born March 10, 1908, in Randolph County, N.C., he was a son of Moses and Maggie Hooker.
He was married icon to Cleatie Richmond Hooker, who survives.
He was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a retired tractor mechanic and a farmer.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three sons, Willie Moses Hooker, Robert June Hooker, and Joe Lenwood Hooker, all of Mebane; five daughters, Juanita Bigelow, Mildred H. Whitefield, both of Washington, D.C., Mary Stewart, Dorothy M. Womack, and Lizzie Hooker, all of Mebane; a brother, Joe Hooker of Graham; a sister, Hallie Searcy of Greensboro; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Saturday from Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Charlie Miles. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home, and other times at residence.
