Robert Gwynn
BLANCH, N.C. - Robert McCoy Gwynn, 53, 1753 Slade Road, died Wednesday, July 10, 1996, in his residence.
Born May 20, 1943, in Caswell County, he was a son of Nolan and Beatrice Foster Gwynn, who survive.
He was married
to Louise Clauden Gwynn, who survives.
He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where he was a trustee. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 33 in Reidsville.
He was employed by Masonite Corporation as a supervisor.
In addition to his wife of the residence, and his parents of Yanceyville, survivors include a daughter, Rene Noell of Atlanta; two sons, James C. Noell of Blanch and Kenneth J. Noell of Ruffin; a sister, Barbara Brown of Nyack, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Mineral Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Seabrook. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Saturday at Fulton Funeral Home, in Yanceyville, and other times at the residence.
William "Sonny" Johnson
BRONX, N.Y. - William Lafayette "Sonny" Johnson, 1551 Unionport Road, and formerly of Yanceyville, N.C., died Tuesday, July 9, 1996, in Westchester Square Medical Center.
Born Oct. 11, 1936, in Caswell County, N.C., he was a son of Dorothy Wade Johnson, who survives, and Joseph William Johnson.
He was married
to Dorothy Paige Johnson, who survives.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a motor vehicle operator. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his wife of the residence, and his mother of Yanceyville, N.C., survivors include two sons, Lawerence Johnson of Boston and William Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Vickie Johnson of the Bronx and Karen Hutchinson of Manhattan; a sister, Jonsie Mae Adams of the Bronx; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday from Yanceyville Missionary Church by the Rev. Cephus Lea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, and other times at the residence of his mother, Lee Street, Yanceyville, N.C.
Fulton Funeral Home of Yanceyville is in charge of arrangements.
Rubie Sadler
BLANCH, N.C. - Rubie McFarling Sadler, 73, 604 Blanch Road, died Friday, July 12, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 7, 1923, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of George and Lily Brightwell McFarling.
She was educated in Caswell County and employed by Durham Hosiery. She was also a Tupperware dealer.
Survivors include a son, Eugene McFarling of the residence; a sister, Lorraine Dryman of Danville; and a brother, Houston McFarling of Eden.
She was predeceased by her parents; a son, David "Pete" McFarling; a sister, Marie McFarling Etchison; and a brother, George "G.T." McFarling.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Hooper Funeral Home Chapel, in Yanceyville. Burial will be in the McFarling Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Thelma Snow
MT. AIRY, N.C. - Thelma Johnson Snow, 75, 1143 Bluemont Road, died Monday, July 15, 1996, in her residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1921, in Surry County, she was a daughter of Thomas W. and Celia Elizabeth Jones Johnson.
She was married
to James T. Snow, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two sons, Thomas Nelson Snow Sr. of Mt. Airy, and Lanny Johnson Snow of Dry Fork, Va.; a sister, Birchell King of Clearwater, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Haymore Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert McCrary. Burial will be in Skyline Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Moody Funeral Home, in Mt. Airy. The body will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service on Wednesday.
Hesper Setliff
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Hesper Ingram Setliff, 61, died Monday, July 15, 1996, in her residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1935, in Patrick County, Va., she was a daughter of Kermit and Gerda Quesinberry Ingram.
On Dec. 25, 1955, she was married
to Wayne Setliff, who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence and her mother, survivors include four daughters, Pixie Skeen and Madeline Setliff, both of Lexington, Va., Vern A'Dare Shoaf of Winston-Salem, and Thanna Setliff of the residence; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, A. Leigh Setliff.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, in Winston-Salem, by the Rev. Banks Shepherd. A graveside service will follow 2 p.m. Friday in Schoolfield Cemetery.
James 'Wise' Crumpton
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - James Wiseman "Wise" Crumpton, 91, formerly of 10401 N.C. Highway 86 North, died Thursday, July 18, 1996, in Maplewood Nursing Home of Reidsville. He had been in declining health since 1986.
Born March 17, 1905, in Caswell County, he was a son of John Carroll Crumpton and Ruth Cook Crumpton.
He spent his entire life in Caswell County, where he worked as a tobacco farmer. He was of the Methodist faith. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a sister, Nannie Sue Crumpton of Providence; and a brother, Edgar Crumpton of Danville, Va.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Pritchett Crumpton and Giles "Doc" Crumpton.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Providence, by the Rev. Rufus Butner and the Rev. Barry Crumpton.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his sister, 10401 N.C. Highway 86 North, Providence.
Rubie Sadler
BLANCH, N.C. - The funeral for Rubie McFarling Sadler, 73, 604 Blanch Road, was conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Hooper Funeral Home Chapel, in Yanceyville, by the Rev. Richard Morris and the Rev. Kenneth McFarling. Burial was in the McFarling Family Cemetery.
She died Friday, July 12, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.

Joe Pickard
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Joe Louis Pickard, 60, of Webster Street, Las Vegas, N.V., died Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
Born Feb. 28, 1936, in Caswell County, he was the son of Joseph and Zenobia Stokes Pickard.
He was a native of Caswell County and was employed at Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include one son, Jamie Pickard of Last Vegas; one daughter, Shannon Pickard of Las Vegas; three sisters, Hazel Brown of Washington, D.C.; Thelma Green of Woodbridge, Va.; and Barbara Jean Harvey of Landover, Md.; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Ephesus Baptist Church in Ruffin by the Rev. William Lea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Demetrius Thomas
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Demetrius Thomas, 75, of Winston-Salem, formerly of New Kensington, Pa., died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at Human Service Alliance.
Born June 28, 1921, in New Kensington, Pa., he was a son of Charles and Asma Neahmia Thomas.
He retired as district manager for American General Insurance Co., and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of St. George's Syrian Orthodox Church in New Kensington, Pa., and had attended the Greek Orthodox Church in Winston-Salem.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Thomas; one son, Robert J. Thomas of Eagle Springs; five daughters, Cheryl Sheads of Gettysburg, Pa.; Charlene McCarthy and Carole Herndon both of Winston-Salem; Caron Sharp of Danville, Va.; and Cynthia Black of Advance; one sister, Rosemont Solomon of New Kensington, Pa.; and two brothers, Ralph Thomas and Andrew Thomas both of New Kensington, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown's Chapel Church Cemetery in Eagle Springs, N.C. A Trisagion service will be conducted 7 p.m. Monday at the Greek Orthodox Church.
