William McFarling
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - William A. "Allie" McFarling, 87, of 250 Park Springs Road, died Sunday afternoon, April 28, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center after a two-year decline in health.
Born Jan. 9, 1909, in Danville, Va., he was a son of William Walker McFarling and Martha L. Willis McFarling. He was married
to Margaret Gourley McFarling, who died Dec. 4, 1993.
He spent most of his life in the Purley and Providence communities of Caswell County, where he was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was superintendent of Sunday school for many years. He also served on the board of deacons and on several committees at church.
He was a member of Travelers Protective Association and worked for Dan River Inc. for 26 years in Production Control.
He had been in the advertising business since the 1950s, and worked for Preferred Advertising since 1965.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou M. Duke of Providence; one son, Alvis L. McFarling of danville, Va., and one brother, Ernest McFarling of Danville, Va.; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Tuesday at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Claude Harrelson and the Rev. Kenneth Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Swicegood Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
Arthur B. Brinkley Jr.
SEMORA, N.C. - The funeral for Arthur B. Brinkley Jr., 71, of 650 Cunningham Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. today from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Frank Garton. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 325.
He died suddenly Saturday, April 27, 1996, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Born March 30, 1925, in Sugar Grove, he was a son of Arthur Bingham Brinkley and Annie Mast Brinkley.
He spent most of his life in Caswell County, where he worked with Thomas Bros. Oil Co. as an attendant for T & T Gas Stations in Blairs, Va. He retired in 1987.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of American Legion Post 325.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marines.
He was married
to Nancy Wilson Brinkley who died May 14, 1968.
On Aug. 25, 1972, he married
Mary McCann Adkins Brinkley, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Bonnie B. Swicegood of Providence; Robin G. Brinkley of Ringgold, Va.; two step-daughters, Wanda A. Hancock of Keeling, Va., and Jane A. Osborn of Meridian, Miss.; one step-son, Larry J. Adkins of Danville, Va.; one sister, Nadine B. Monk of Mebane; two grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 650 Cunningham Road, Semora, N.C.
Rosa Prather
MEBANE, N.C. - Rosa Carter Prather, 100, 504 East Graham Street, Mebane, and formerly of Route 4, Eden, died Sunday, April 28, 1996, in the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, following a year of declining health and six weeks of critical illness.
Born in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of John Tyler Carter and Liza C. Carter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Parker Prather, and by her brother, Marvin Prather.
She was employed by Fieldcrest Mill in Eden, until her retirement.
She was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Prather Evans of Mebane; two grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of McClure Funeral Home, in Eden, by the Rev. Rex Brooks. A graveside service will also be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Ridgeview Cemetery, in Eden.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of Ruby P. Evans, 504 East Graham St., Mebane.
Blanche Wells
STATESVILLE, N.C. - Blanche Montgomery Wells, 70, 1243 Jennings Road, died Monday, April 29, 1996, in the N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 11, 1925, in Iredell County, she was a daughter of Henry Oscar Montgomery and Ada Bell Montgomery.
She was married
to Waymoth J. Wells, who survives, on Oct. 12, 1952.
She was formerly employed by the Iredell County of Social Services. She was also a member of Rose Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Frank Montgomery Wells of Statesville; one daughter, Carol Wells Broadhead of Yanceyville; two sistes, Edith Templeton of Pilot Mountain, and Sarah Nicholson of Statesville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Rose Chapel United Methodist Church, in Statesville, by the Rev. H. Cowles Bristol and the Rev. Herman Nicholson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, in Statesville, and other times at the residence.
Elma Brannock
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - Elma Maie Bobbitt Brannock, 85, 458 Trails End Road, died Tuesday, April 30, 1996, in her residence.
She was married
to William H. "Bill" Brannock, who died in 1980.
She was a native of Wake County, who spent most of her life in Rockingham County. She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, William E. "Bill" Brannock of Charleston, S.C., and Larry R. Brannock of Gastonia; one daughter, Peggy Wright of Danville, Va.; one brother, Michael E. "Mike" Bobbitt of Fayetteville; one sister, Frances Vestal of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Camp Springs United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles Myers and the Rev. David Brannock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Citty Funeral Home, in Reidsville.
Robert Bendall Jr.
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Robert Paschal Bendall Jr., 74, of Benbrooke Farm, 3269 Old Hwy. 86 North, died early Sunday morning, May 5, 1996, at his home.
Born Sept. 24, 1921, in Danville, Va., he was the son of Robert Paschal Bendall Sr. and Russell Patterson Bendall.
He was married
to Lucy Charles Jones, formerly of Chatham, Va., who survives.
He attended Hampden-Sydney College and graduated from the Medical College of Virginia. He operated Bendall's Drug Store on Craghead Street in Danville, Va., until his retirement in 1970.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Robert Paschal Bendall III of Los Angeles, Gordon Pannill Bendall of Yanceyville, and Charles Hunter Bendall of Richmond, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Danville.
Beverly Thompson
BLANCHE, N.C. - Beverly Kaye Potts Thompson, 36, 6987 Blanche Road, died Saturday, May 4, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 4, 1959, she was a daughter of James Potts and Cleddie Allen Potts, who survives.
She was of the Baptist faith.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of L.H. Brooks and Bro. Funeral Home by the Rev. Tyrone Thornton. Burial will be at River Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brandi Faircloth
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Brandi Nicole Faircloth, 8, 231 South Seventh Ave., Yanceyville, N.C., died Monday, May 6, 1996, in Caswell County in an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 12, 1988, in Durham County, she was a daughter of Melinda Jo Williams Faircloth and Robert "Dwayne" Faircloth, who survives.
She was a second grade student at Oakwood School in Yanceyville. She also attended Gatewood Baptist Church.
In addition to her father of the residence, survivors include her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams of Yanceyville; and her paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Faircloth of Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Community Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Smith and the Rev. John Gentry. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Melinda Faircloth
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Melinda Jo Williams Faircloth, 32, 231 South Seventh Ave., Yanceyville, N.C., died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, in the Baptist Hospital of Winstom-Salem following an automobile accident.
Born Oct. 29, 1963, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Joseph Thornton Williams and Margaret Smith Williams, who survive.
She was married
to Robert "Dwayne" Faircloth, who survives.
She was employed by N.C. Department of Corrections, Blanch Youth Institution. She also attended Gatewood Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence and her parents of Yanceyville, survivors include one sister, Martha Dale Williams of Wilmington; and one brother, J.T. Williams of Yanceyville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Community Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Smith and the Rev. John Gentry. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
