Martin Wooden
PROVIDENCE, N.C. - Martin Ezra Wooden, 70, 415 Stephens Road, Providence, N.C., died Friday, May 17, 1996, in the Duke University Medical Center of Durham.
Born May 11, 1926, in Peaking, China, he was a son of Stewart Lyndon Wooden and Eleanora Wiswall Wooden.
He was married
to Phyllis Reynolds Wooden, who survives.
He was a graduate of Suffiled Academy and of Bowdoin College.
He completed his graduate studies at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
He was a retired general contractor.
He was also a member of Old North Church in Marblehead, Mass.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Andrea W. Jones of Tokyo, Japan; two sons, Andrew Fargo Wooden of Albuquerque, N.M., and Stewart Lyndon Wooden of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Main Street, Danville, Va., at a later date.

George Edward Mimms
PELHAM, N.C. - George Edward Mimms, 7928 Chrysler St., Detroit, and formerly of Pelham, N.C., died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in the Mercy Hospital of Detroit.
Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Sun, W.Va., he was a son of George and Janie Howard Mimms.
He was married
to Opal Mimms, who survives.
He was employed as a construction worker, until his retirement.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy, who served during World War II.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Sue Mimms of Anchorage, Alaska; and one sister, Burdia Mimms of Las Vegas.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday from Red Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregory Hopkins.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may viewed Friday evening at Fulton Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at residence of his niece, Barbara Mimms, 188 Lanyne Mimms Farm Road, Pelham.
Cullen Buck
SEMORA, N.C. - Cullen Lee Buck, 92, 2969 Yarborough Mill Road, died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, in Person County Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy decline in health.
Born in Caswell County, he was a son of John Lee and Lucy Hamlett Buck.
He was educated in the Caswell County School System. He was a retired farmer and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home, in Yanceyville, with burial in Connally United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Thelma Dix, 2684 Park Springs Road.
Julia Dennis
PELHAM, N.C. - Julia Mae Reid Dennis, 54, 879 Holland Road, died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 8, 1942, in Elizabeth City.
She was employed by Roman Eagle Memorial Home for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Levon Hall of Baltimore, and Reginald James Hall and Darren Keith Hall, both of Pelham.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday from Smith Chapel, in Pelham, by the Rev. Jimmy Richmond. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 996 Holland Road, Pelham.

Julia Dennis
PELHAM, N.C. - The funeral for Julia Dennis, 54, 879 Holland Road, Pelham, N.C., will be conducted 4 p.m. today from Smith Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Richmond. Interment will be in the church cemetary.
She died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, in Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville, Va.
Born April 8, 1942, in Elizabeth City, she was a daughter of Lilly M. Reid and John McDonald.
She was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church, where she served in Willing Workers, the Missionary Auxillary, and the Floral Club.
She was also an usher and a member of the gospel choir.
Survivors include three sons, Darren Hall of Danville, Gregory Hall of Maryland, and Reginald Hall of Pelham; her adoptive mother, Daisy Reid of Danville; two brothers, Jessie Anderson of Richmond, Va., and Joe Anderson of Maryland; one sister, Gloria Joyner of Maryland; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 996 Holland Road, Pelham.

Archie Glass Jr.
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Archie James Glass Jr., 140 Barber Shop Drive, died Sunday, May 26, 1996.
Born Jan. 28, 1943, in Caswell County, he was a son of Archie James Glass Sr. and Jennie Glass Holloway, who survives.
He was married
to Brenda Long Glass, who survives.
He was employed by T.M. Logging Co. He was also a member of High Rock Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, and his mother of Durham, survivors include six daughters, Cordelia McGhee of Yanceyville, Linda Graves, Chiquita McGhee, Monica McGhee, and Kwana McGhee, all of Burlington, and Pamela Randolph of Maryland; two sons, Randolph Graves of Greensboro and Leonard Lunsford of Roxboro; one sister, Janet E. Holloway of Durham; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from High Rock Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Fulton Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of an aunt, Lula McCain, 1561 Stephentown Road, Blanch.
Amiel Kapps
KING, N.C. - Amiel Eugene Kapps, 83, 540 Ingram Drive, died Monday, May 27, 1996, in Forsyth Hospital.
Born Dec. 7, 1912, in Danville, Va., he was a son of Oscar and Lula Hodnett Kapps.
He was predeceased by his wife, Charles Ferrell Kapps, who died July 21, 1991.
He was a member of Old Town Masonic Lodge No. 751 A.F. and A.M., Eastern Star No. 355, the Scottish Rite, Oasis Shrine Temple, and Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was also a charter member of Old Town Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann K. Blankenship of Pfafftown; two sons, Charles E. Kapps of Germantown, and Timothy W. Kapps of Rural Hall; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Old Town Baptist Church by the Rev. Wade Dellinger.
Burial, along with masonic rites, will be in Forsyth Memorial Park.
The body may be viewed at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel of Winston-Salem.
Mary Millner
BLANCH, N.C. - Mary Poteat Millner, 74, 1298 Farmer Road, Blanch, N.C., died Tuesday, May 28, 1996, in Patton Family Care.
Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Allie Poteat and Virginia Hayden Poteat.
She was predeceased by her husband, L.F. "Mutt" Millner, who died Aug. 31, 1988.
She was employed by Dan River Mills Inc., until several years ago when her health began to decline.
She was also a homemaker and a member of Purley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Millner Stephens of Blanch; a son, Larry Ray Millner of Blanch; three sisters, Margaret P. Turner of Columbia, S.C., Jeanette P. Turner of Blanch, and Jane P. Byrd of Danville, Va.; two brothers, Raymond Poteat and Billy Poteat, both of Blanch; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Thursday from Purley United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Floyd Marrow.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
