Jane J. Burrell
LEXINGTON, N.C. - Funeral services for Jane J. Burrell, 79, of 398 Western Blvd., will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Chapel by Dr. Ray Howell III and Dr. Hoke Coon.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Danville.
She died Friday at her home after a sudden illness.
She was born in Danville on Oct. 1, 1918, to Charles Wesley Jackson and Florence Crawford Jackson. She was a retired teacher with the Lexington City School System and a member of the North Carolina Retired Teacher Association and a member of the Lexington Civinettes.
Her husband, James Alvin Burrell, preceded her in death in 1970.
Survivors include daughters, Betsy Beck of Clemmons, and Jane Burrell Kolar of Barstow, Ca.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Cecil Estes
EDEN, N.C. - Cecil Hardiman Estes, 72, 5150 Hwy 700, died Tuesday morning, July 29, 1997, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
He was married
to Hazel Pratt Estes, who survives.
A native of Pittsylvania County, he was a retired electrician for American Tobacco Co.
He was a member of Meadow View Methodist Church.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
In addition to his wife of Eden, survivors include four sons, William Larry Estes of Brosville, Va., and Cecil H. Estes and Charles Wayne Estes, both of Ruffin, and James Earl Estes of Eden; a daughter, Karen E. McDaniel of Ruffin; three brothers, Ralph Estes, Calvin Estes and Carlton Estes, all of Eden; four sisters, Edna Alderman, Christine Chrismon and Edith Chilton, all of Eden, and Bobbie Jean Thornton of Greensboro; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Estes, and a sister, Inez Pegran.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Meadow View Methodist Church. Burial will be in Danview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Fair Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
Theordore Long
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Theordore Roosevelt Long, 66, of 37 Long Road, died Monday, July 28, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 2, 1931, in Caswell County, he was a son of George H. Long and Virginia Gunn Long.
He was married
to Mamie Fuller Long, who survives.
He was employed by Danville Plywood Company for many years.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include six sons, Hilton Long of Yanceyville, Theordore R. Long Jr., James Totten and Harvey Totten, all of Greensboro, Robert Graves of Danville, Va., and Timothy Fitzgerald of Newport News, Va.; seven daughters, Sallie Lee and Denise Williamson, both of Reidsville, Sheila Fitzgerald of Landover, Md., and Theresa Woods of Yanceyville, Kenise Carter of Danville, Va., and Katherine Farmer of New York, N.Y., and Jackie Springfield of Greensboro; seven sisters, Martha Swann of Baltimore, Russell Taylor and Carolyn Lea, both of Blanch, Frances Weatherford and Mary Walters, both of Danville, Va., and Estelle Jeffries of Reidsville, and Catherine Turner of Yanceyville; and two brothers, Herbert Long of Baltimore and Clarence Long of Reidsville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Sassafrass Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Bigelow. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Mabel Kendrick
EDEN, N.C. - Mabel H. Kendrick, 81, of the Bryan Center in Yanceyville, died Monday night, July 28, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Pittsylvania County, where she was a homemaker and attended Bethel Baptist Church.
She was married
to Billy Kendrick, who survives.
In addition to her husband of Reidsville, survivors include two sons, Elmer Mattox of California, Md., and Harry Mattox of Middleburg, Fla.; five daughters, Virginia Austin of Kingsport, Tenn., and Naomi Austin of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gloria Stewart of Livingston, Tenn., and JoAnn Quilliams of Eden and Glenda Helms of Wagram, N.C.; a stepson, Wayne Kendrick of Reidsville; two stepdaugthers, Barbara Meeks of Reidsville and Betty Patterson of Summerfield, N.C.; three sisters, Doris Yeatts of Reidsville, Gladys Shelton of Chatham, Va., and Frances Mullins of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother, Charlie Hedrick of Chatham, Va.; 30 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church in Swansonville, Va. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Wilkerson Funeral Home, Reidsville, is in charge of arrangements.
Herman Totten
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Herman Totten, of 2311 Foster Road, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 10, 1934, in Caswell County, he was a son of James Franklin Totten and Mary Ollie Turner Totten.
He was a member of Blackwell Baptist Church, and was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include a son, Sylvester Walters of Harrisburg, Penn.; a daughter, Dyanne Walters of Harrisburg, Penn.; a brother, Thomas Lee Totten of Eden; and two sisters, Mary Emma Gwynn of Yanceyville and Willie Totten of Reidsville.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Blackwell Baptist Church by the Rev. Everett Dickerson. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 tonight at Fulton Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his sister, Mary Gwynn, 395 Blackwell Road, Yanceyville.
Lemuel Marsh
KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. - Lemuel Ellis Marsh, 64, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, in an Elizabeth City hospital.
Born in Claxton, Ga., he was the son of Bernard Chesley Starkey and Mary Beulah Lane Marsh Starkey.
He was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and a member of Duck Woods Country Club.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include Mary Lou Haraway of the home; a daughter, Lynn Alys Esbach of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Bernard Chesley Marsh of Manassas, Va., and Clayton Dewitt of Fairfax, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Duck Methodist Church in North Carolina.
Aubrey 'Bill' Parrott Jr.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Aubrey Montague "Bill" Parrott Jr., 66, 705 Rollingwood Drive, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
He was married
to Nancy Goodson Parrott, who survives.
He received his undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and a master's degree from UNC-Greensboro.
He owned and operated Laminated Specialties, and prior to that, was employed by Carolina By Products for 23 years.
He was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church, and a former member of Greensboro Jaycees and Greensboro Lions Club.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a son, Stephen Parrott of Charlotte; a daughter, Susan Parrott Harrison of Summerfield; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Bob Parrott.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Lawndale Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Forbis & Dick North Elm St., in Greensboro.
Claude Hines
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Claude Lee Hines Jr., 74, 1414 20th St., died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at his residence.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Park.
A native of Danville, Va., he was retired from Cone Mills in print works.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Post 386. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was married
to Jackie Hines.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Sandra George and Sue Hines, both of Greensboro; and his stepmother, Elizabeth Hines of Richmond, Va.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Billie Jean King
WEST YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Billie Jean McKinney King, 67, 2852 U.S. Hwy. 158 West, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
The daughter of Norman E. McKinney and Ethel Pearl McKinney Shaw, who survives, she was born May, 19, 1930, in Rockingham County.
She was retired from Burlington Industries and was of the Methodist Faith.
She was married
to Richard Willard King, who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence and mother of Reidsville, she is survived by five daughters, Scarlet K. Williamson of Reidsville, Linda K. Stoneburg of Danville, Va., Deborah K. Henson of Texas, Terri K. Wilson of Elon College and Wanda Jill Cochran of West Yanceyville; a son, Richard Wayne King of Reidsville; a sister, Dorothy M. Rudd of Ruffin; a stepsister, Agnes Cook of Reidsville; a stepbrother, Frank Shaw of Reidsville; a half brother, Curtis Shaw of Reidsville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church cemetery on Cherry Grove Road by Elder Wallis Smith and the Rev. Carl Kencaid.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Marley Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Patrick "Pat" Lassiter
BLANCH, N.C. - The graveside service for Patrick "Pat" Dowd Lassiter, 78, 4464 Blanch Road, will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Blanch Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. George Rumney and John Bradsher. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
He died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born April 27, 1919, in Hamlet, he was the son of Pulaski Stewart Lassiter and Cornelia Farrell Lassiter.
He was retired from Auto Parts in Danville, Va., where he was a salesman. He was a lifetime resident of Blanch and was a member of Blanch Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir.
He served as a staff sergeant during World War II in central Europe and the Rhineland. He was a member of VFW Post 7316 and American Legion Post 89, Yanceyville.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Allen Lassiter of the home; two daughters, Shirley L. Winstead of Yanceyville and Susan P. Lassiter of Blanch; one son, Stewart A. Lassiter of Greensboro; two brothers, Richard P. Lassiter of Graham and J. Kenneth Lassiter of Greensboro; one sister, Colleen L. Flynt of Blanch; and two grandchildren.
