Cleve Davis
BROWN SUMMIT, N.C. - V.C. "Cleve" Davis, 53, 205 Plum Hollow Court, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1944, in Pittsylvania County, Va., he was the son of Vester W. Davis and Beatrice J. Davis.
He was the owner of Consolidated Insulation Co.
He was married
to Debra Payne Davis.
In addition to his wife of the residence and his mother of Greensboro, survivors include two sons, Chris Davis and Kevin Dodson of the residence.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Davis Wine.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Janie Lindsey
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Janie Florence Lindsey, 76, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rolling Roads Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Va., she was a homemaker. She was a member of Rolling Roads Baptist Church and a member of the Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Curtis G. Lindsey; daughters, Harriett McKenney and husband Earnest of Greensboro, and Janet Lindsey VanHook and husband Charlie of Greensboro; and grandsons, David and Michael McKenney of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, and other times at the home.

George 'Jack' Totten
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - George "Jack" Totten, 72, 262 Third Avenue, died Friday, June 13, in Brian Center Nursing Home.
Born March 26, 1925, in Caswell County, he was the son of Will and Fannie Totten.
He was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by five sons, Thomas Johnson and James Johnson, both of Yanceyville, Frank Johnson of Greensboro, Lawrence Johnson of Pelham, and Richard Johnson of Ruffin; one daughter, Elizabeth Johnson of Yanceyville; one foster sister, Martha Ann Gordon of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday from the Fulton Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Cephus Lea. Burial will be in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body may be viewed 2-8 p.m. today at Fulton Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence.
George "Doc" Pruitt
PELHAM, N.C. - George W. "Doc" Pruitt Jr., 69, of 197 Pruitt Road, died Sunday morning, June 15, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 20, 1928, in Pelham, he was the son of George Pruitt Sr. and Jenny Crowder Pruitt.
He was a member of Shelton Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 47 years. He was retired from Dan River Inc.
On Dec. 8, 1947, he was married
to Hazel Cook Pruitt, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, George "Albert" Pruitt and Glenn A. Pruitt, both of Pelham; a daughter, Karen Pruitt Gregory of Pelham; a brother, John T. Pruitt of Pelham; a sister, Mamie Hunt of Greensboro; six half-brothers, June Pruitt, Russell Pruitt, Paul Pruitt, Jack Pruitt, Ricky Pruitt and Joe Pruitt; three half-sisters, Elsie Setliff, Sally Wilkerson and Nancy Rowland; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shelton Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth D. Hall. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 tonight at Shelton Baptist Church, and other times will be at the residence.

Ruby Hight Starling
Ruby Hight Starling, 93, formerly of 3113 Charles B. Root Wynd, Apt. 244, Raleigh, N.C., died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Rex Convalescent Center after a brief period of declining health.
Mrs. Starling was born in Franklin County on March 13, 1904, to the late Ollie O. and Cora Pierce Hight. She spent her early years in Buies creek and was graduated from Buies Creek Academy.
She married
the late James Fulton Starling on August 6, 1929, and they spent most of their married
life in Lumberton, N.C., where they owned and managed Modern Funiture Company together.
Mrs. Starling was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lumberton and she participated in many clubs and community organizations before moving to Independence Village in Raleigh in 1995. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James F. and Diana Starling of Danville, Va., and by a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Robert E. and Ann S. Singleton of Raleigh; and five grandchildren, Jeff, Brent and Amanda Starling, and Rob and Hollis Singleton. She is also survived by a granddaughter-in-law, Kim Singleton, and a sister-in-law, Juanita Hight of Buies Creek.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 on Tuesday at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 602 N. Walnut St., Lumberton, N.C. 28358.
Steven Maxwell
FRANKLIN, N.C. - Steven James Maxwell, 34, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, in Loudoun County, Va.
A native of Fairfax, Va., he was a son of Robert and Grace Ruby Maxwell, who survive.
He was a self-employed contractor and computer specialist.
He was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church in Hamilton, Va.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two sisters, Judy Greer of Sterling, Va., and Rosalee Wren of Danville, Va.; and a brother, Frank Maxwell of Franklin.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Macon Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin by the Rev. Harold Ball. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James "Jim" Allison
REIDSVILLE, N.C. - James "Jim" Richard Allison, 55, 214 Browning Road, died Friday, June 20, 1997, in his residence.
A native of Reidsville, he was a son of Annie A. Allison, who survives, and James W. Allison.
He attended Reidsville High School and graduated from East Carolina University.
He was formerly employed as the sanitarian for Rockingham County and later worked as the supervisor of environmental health for Caswell County.
In addition to his mother of Reidsville, survivors include a daughter, Lisa Allison Truitt of Reidsville; two sons, James Richard Allison Jr. and John David Allison, both of Reidsville; two sisters, Ann Allison Martin of Greensboro and Sandra Allison Moore of Reidsville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Reidsville. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Matilda Mims
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Matilda Mims, 321 Melvin Wrenn Road, died Friday, June 20, 1997, in her residence.
Born Dec. 4, 1906, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Aldophus and Hannah Gwynn Mims.
She was married
to John Mims, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Florine Mims Shoffner of Greensboro and Mary Adelaide Mims Blackwell of Burlington; two sons, Theodore Mims and James Mims, both of Yanceyville; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Mineral Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Seabrooks. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Fulton Funeral Home in Yanceyville, and other times at the residence.
Lillian Douglas
BLANCH, N.C. - Lillian Smith Douglas, 79, 494 Bob Smith Road, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, in her residence.
Born June 20, 1918, in Person County, she was a daughter of Robert Barksdale Smith and Lillian Finney Smith.
She was a member of New Hope-Purley Charge and a retired dairy farmer.
She is survived by a son, Barksdale Douglas of Blanch; a sister, Mary Alice Smith Sims of Blanch; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Purley United Methodist Church by the Rev. Floyd Morrow. A private burial will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son, 291 Bob Smith Road, Blanch.

Charles Lamb
RANDLEMAN, N.C. - Charles Leslie Lamb, 63, 6435 Georgia Drive, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.
He was married
to Mittie Lamb, who survives.
He was a native of Danville, Va.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Randleman.
He was retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries.
He served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Lamb Sheron of Trinity and Debra Ann Lamb Spart of McGaheysville, Va.; a sister, Juanita Lamb McGhee
of Danville, Va.; a brother, Raymond H. Lamb of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Reaves and the Rev. James McGhee. Burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.
