Dora Hankins
PELHAM, N.C. - Dora Johnson Hankins, 39, 559 Mineral Springs Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998 at the Alamance/Caswell Hospice Home in Burlington.
Born Jan. 2, 1959 in Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Pearl Brown Johnson and Hollis Johnson, who survives.
She was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church and was an employee of Burlington Industries.
She was married
to Tony Hankins, who survives.
In addition to her husband, of the residence, and her father, of Yanceyville, she is survived by a son, Tony Durrell Hankins of Pelham; three brothers, Clifton Brown of Pelham, Richard Johnson of Ruffin, and Anthony Johnson of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Mae Watlington of Green Level and Carolyn Farrish of Pelham.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Everett Dickerson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. today at Fulton Funeral Home in Yanceyville.
The family will be at the residence.
Louise Webb
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Louise Dibrell Webb, 78, widow of Ercell Simpson Webb, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Webb, a native of Danville, Va., was a longtime resident of Greenville. A member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, she served on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Greenville Service League and a former member of the Thalian Book Club. She was an avid gardener.
She is survived by two daughters, Lou Folger, of Greenville, and Myra Joy, and her husband, Bob, of Lawrenceville, N.J.; a son, Stuart Ficklen, Jr., and his wife, Susan, of Hankins, N.Y., step-daughter Sara Rogers and her husband, Jimmy, of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Lou Folger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mack Willis
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Carl Mack Willis, 66, 1786 U.S. Highway 158 West of West Yanceyville, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Triangle Hospice of Hillsborough. He had been in declining health for 15 months.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Prospect United Methodist Church by the Rev. Scott Wilkinson. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
He was born in Caswell County, the son of the late P.P. and Jenny Lunsford Willis.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and retired from the N.C. Division of Prisons after 30 years of service. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and attended Prospect United Methodist Church.
He was married
to Ola Shelton Willis, who survives, of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Carl Blake Willis, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Butters Willis, of Durham; two grandchildren, Alexandria Blake Willis and Daniel Shelton Willis of Durham; three sisters, Mrs. B.L. (Mildred) Laughon and Anne W. Swicegood of Burlington, and Nancy W. Shelton of West Yanceyville; and two brothers, Hazel Paul Willis of Sterling, Va. and James M. (Jimmy) Willis of Purley.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 tonight at Hooper Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Triangle Hospice, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, N.C. 27278.
Georgeanna Gwynn
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Georgeanna Simpson Gwynn, 2015 Hodges Dairy Road, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, in Reidsville.
Born Nov. 30, 1900, in Caswell County, she was the daughter of John Wesley Simpson and Eliza Cobb Simpson.
She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of the missionary circle. She was also a member of Home Demonstration Club and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Simon C. Gwynn Jr. of Capital Heights, Md.; three daughters, Loretta G. Ramsey of Greensboro and Mary E. Gwynn and Dorothy G. Slade, both of Yanceyville; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Mineral Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Seabrook. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fulton Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Cornelia Langford
ROXBORO, N.C. - Cornelia Richardson Langford, 83, Whitt Town Road, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Piney Forest Health Center, Danville, Va.
Born March 3, 1914, in Charlotte County, Va., she was a daughter of Ernest Richardson and Lucy Wells Richardson.
She was married
to Berkley A. Langford, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Somerset Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, B. Allen Langford Jr. of Hampton, Va.; four daughters, Lois L. Bradsher and Audrey L. Wade, both of Roxboro, Rachel L. Hoosier of Danville and Marguerite L. Buhler of Toronto; two sisters, Jeanne Tanner of Lilburn, Ga., and Viola Williams of Chester; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Jack Waddell. Burial will be in Burchwood Cemetery on Old Durham Road in Roxboro.
Willie 'Toot' McCollough
EAST SPENCER, N.C. - Willie James "Toot" McCollough, 60, 512 Welder St., died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a year of declining health and three days of serious illness.
Born June 30, 1937, in Rowan County, he was a son of Elsie Slade McCollough and W.B. McCollough.
He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and was last employed at Cone Mills.
He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he was a former junior deacon.
Survivors include two brothers, Eugene McCollough and John A. McCollough, both of East Spencer; and a sister, Julia M. Wilson of Danville, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. John G. Gaston. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Jack Moore
PELHAM, N.C. - Jack R. Moore, 64, 10678 N.C. 700, died Sunday morning, Jan. 11, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 5, 1933, in Rockingham County, he was a son of Julius Levi Moore and Ora Lemons Moore.
He was married
to the former Shirley Salmons, who survives.
Most of his life was spent in Pelham, where he owned and operated Moore's Garage. Prior to his death, he was a mechanic for Danville Bandag.
He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a son, Jeffrey Scott Moore of Keeling; four brothers, Bernard Moore, Dood Moore, Johnny Moore and Alton Moore, all of Pelham; three sisters, Ila Bray, Carrie Barber and Annie Cox, all of Pelham.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence Moore and Dickie Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Chapel by the Rev. Robert Vermillion and the Rev. Roy Kennedy. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Shirley Cook
PELHAM, N.C. - A graveside service for Shirley Ann Saunders Cook, 58, 184 Chandler Mill Road, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Schoolfield Cemetery by the Rev. Donald G. Frank.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at her residence after a three month decline in health.
Born Jan. 15, 1939, in Danville, she was a daughter of William Odie Saunders and Hattie Stallings Saunders, who survives.
She was married
to Lindsey Washington Cook, who died Dec. 2, 1994.
A resident of the Pelham community for most of her life, she worked as a sewing machine operator for Chase Bag Inc. of Reidsville for several years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother of Pelham, survivors include a sister, Elsie Spicer of Pelham.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Otis Saunders Jr.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her mother and sister, 809 Goodman Road, off U.S. 29.

Thelma Elmore
MILTON, N.C. - Thelma Bigelow Elmore, 75, 79 Hudson Road, died Thursday evening, Jan. 15, 1998, at Coble Home Care Center in Durham.
Born July 28, 1922, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Geter and Fannie Jeffries Bigelow.
She was a member of Hamer Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Carolyn Dixon of the residence, Virginia Maynard of Oxnhill, Md., and Rose Yarboro and Marilyn Royster, both of Jersey City, N.J., and Regina Bailey of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; a son, George Elmore Jr. of Milton; two sisters, Maude Thaxton of Augusta, Ga., and Annie Bryant of Columbia, Md.; two brothers, Geter Bigelow Jr. of White Plains, N.Y., and Lucham Bigelow of Pleasantville, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hamer Baptist Church, Blanch, by the Rev. Cephus Lea. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8p.m. tonight at the church, and the family is also at the residence.
